  • In the process of accurate manufacture and measurement, it is necessarily required to isolate external or internal vibration due to external disturbance and internal actuators. The higher vibration isolation system gets damping around resonance, the better it is generally. This paper analyzes the performance of an existing passive air-spring for vibration isolation table by using experiment and simulation. Optimal design for a passive air spring can be obtained by tuning the size of the orifice. Also design for an active isolation system is carried out by applying PID controller and considering non-linearity of pneumatic characteristics with help of look-up table. We have developed the active vibration isolation table with the better isolation performance.

  • This paper is concerned with the development of the vibration isolation system using piezoelectric actuators and sensors. The active vibration absorber system consists of 4 pairs of PZT actuators bonded on aluminum plates making s- shaped device. Hence, the active system is directly connected to the passive system. The rubber attached to the end of the beam is connected to the upper base as a structural member. It allows bending thus maximizing the vertical movement generated by the piezoceramic actuators. • Piled multi-block system has been frequently adopted in the historic structures or monuments of cultural heritage. It is well known that such a structural system is very vulnerable to the earthquake shaking. If the structure is of slender type, then it may experience overturning at very low level intensity of ground shaking. One of the methods used to protect such structures from earthquake is seismic isolation system. But the behavior of multi-block systems mounted on the isolated basis is not well understood yet. In this paper we investigate the dynamic behavior of single slender rigid block mounted on the three different isolation systems, i.e., P-F system, FPS and LRB system. Sliding at the isolation interface of P-F system and FPS is formulated based on Coulomb friction. The mounted single block is assumed undergoing rocking or sticking only. Impacting of a single block is described using distinct element method (DEM). Free vibrations due to a prescribed initial conditions are studied. Responses to the harmonic excitation and earthquake motions are calculated

  • In this study, the optimal dynamic isolation system for gas operated combat weapon has been investigated. For this purpose, firstly, the dynamic behavior of human induced by firing operations has been analyzed through a series of experimental works using the devised test setup. The characteristics of linear impulse has been compared under some conditions of support system. In order to design the optimal dynamic isolation system, parameter optimization process has been performed based on the simplified isolation system under constraints of moving displacement and transmitted force. Finally, the performance of the designed dynamic absorbing system has been evaluated by simulation.

  • In this paper, we propose a model-based FDI(fault detetion and isolation) algorithm to detect and isolate fault in a linear system. The proposed algorithm is gased on an HFC(hydrid fault classifier) which consists of an FCART2(fault classifier by ART2 neural network) and an FCFM(fault classifier by fault models) which operate in parallel to isolate faults. The proposed algorithm is functionally composed of three main parts-parameter estimation, fault detection, and isolation. When a change in the system occurs, the estimated parameters go through a transition zone in which errors between the system output and the stimated output and the estimated output cross a predetermined thrseshold, and in this zone the estimated parameters are tranferred to the FCART2 for fault isolation. On the other hand, once a fault in the system is detected, the FCFM statistically isolates the fault by using the error between ach fault model out put and the system output. From the computer simulation resutls, it is verified that the proposed model-based FDI algorithm can be performed successfully to detect and isolate faults in a position control system of a DC motor.

  • The seismic response reduction capacity of a smart mid-story isolation system was investigated using the RNN model in this study. For this purpose, an RNN model was developed to make a dynamic response prediction of building structures subjected to seismic loads. An existing tall building with a mid-story isolation system was selected as an example structure for realistic research. A smart mid-story isolation system was comprised of an MR damper instead of existing lead dampers. The RNN model predicted the seismic responses accurately compared to those of the FEM model. The simulation time of the RNN model can be reduced significantly compared to the FEM model. After the numerical simulations, the smart mid-story isolation system could effectively reduce the seismic responses of the existing building compared to the conventional mid-story isolation system.

  • In recent days, vibration isolation system is mostly required in precise measurement and manufacturing system to reduce vibration due to external disturbances and internal actuators. Among all the vibration isolation systems, air spring is widely used because of its low resonant frequency and high damping ratio. In this study, we first analyze the passive air-spring system using leveling valve, and then design the active vibration isolation system. Because the non-linearity of pneumatic characteristics, we try to design the fuzzy controller which is better than PID controller at complex and non-linear system, and then compare them both in experiment and simulation.

  • As applying an active control technique to a pneumatic vibration isolation system, the settling time for the payload excitation could be remarkably reduced as well as the improvement of isolation performance for the ground vibration. Some previous researches were dealt with the settling time through the simulation or experiment but, the discussion on the simulation or experimental results including moving parts, such as a XY-stage, on the isolation table rarely exists. As considering the moving part, the dynamic model could be time varying system and in such a case the force imposed on pneumatic vibration isolation table could be described by inertial forces of moving parts according to Newton's 3rd law, the action and reaction law. In this paper, the simulation procedure of the 3-DOF active pneumatic vibration isolation system including moving parts by TDC(time delay control) technique is proposed and the effectiveness through simulation results are also shown.

  • In this paper, we propose a novel robust fault isolation filter design method using the left eigenstructure assignment scheme proposed by the authors. The proposed method guarantees that the ${\gamma}$ simultaneous faults can be isolated when the number of available outpur measurements is ${\gamma}$. Moreover, if there exist redundant output measurements, the eigenvaluses of te filter system can be assigned to the desired position or the filter can be designed robustly to, the system parameter variation. Liu & Si developed a filter design method which has the same purpose, fault isolation. However their method cannot use the redundant freedom of the output matrix C. The proposed filter can use the redundant freedom of the matrix C effectively. Beside this in this paper, an eigenstructure assignment methodology that satisfies the required fault isolation conditions is also proposed. The proposed fault isolation filter was applied for isolating the simultaneous faults to a VTOL aircraft in order to verify the fault isolation performance.

  • In this paper, a miniaturized radio frequency choke (RFC) using modified stubs is proposed to improve isolation characteristics in a multiple-input-multiple-output (MIMO) antenna system. The proposed RFC, based on the LC resonance, is designed to suppress the leakage current that leads to the degradation of antenna diversity performances in the MIMO antenna configuration. The proposed RFC is composed of two open stubs that are implemented on the top of the ground plane and miniaturized by adding a slit structure on the ground plane. The MIMO antennas are also designed to verify isolation performance in the LTE 2300 band (2,300-2,400 MHz). The MIMO antennas perform well with low reflection coefficient characteristics and high isolation characteristics in the whole LTE 2300 band. To evaluate the isolation in the MIMO system, the envelope correlation coefficient (ECC) is calculated, and the value is less than 0.08. The achieved ECC is regarded as a reasonable result for improving isolation performance in the frequency range of 2,300-2,400 MHz; also, radiation patterns of antenna elements are maintained regardless of the presence of RFC.
