  • Purpose:The infection and isolation program used at a university hospital in A city was assessed and improved to provide medical staff with easy-to-understand information on isolation precautions and infectious diseases. Methods: Based on the results of the root cause analysis, the infection and isolation alarm computer program was improved. Subsequently, a survey was conducted with infection control leaders and unit managers (n=98) within the department to evaluate the degree of improvement. Results: The isolation registration and release procedures were simplified and unified to prevent confusion among the relevant departments. Additionally, the screen composition was improved so that various information related to infection can be easily accessed. After improvement in the program, the rate of isolation registration (53.0% to 100.0%, p<.001) and user satisfaction (67.6% to 92.2%) improved. Conclusion: This study will help improve the program so that other medical institutions can comply with the isolation precautions in accordance with the type of infections.

  • A switch or circulator is used for distinguishing between the paths of transmitter and receiver in TDD systems. If the isolation between Tx and Rx paths is low in TDD systems, the output signal of the ransmitter acts as an interferer to the receiver even if the transceiver operates on the receiver mode. In this paper we propose a method to get high isolation characteristics between transmitting and receiving paths in TDD systems. We implement the module with a proposed improving method to verify the effect of the isolation improvement and the experimental results are presented. The isolation improvement of above 44.8 dB over the frequency bandwidth of 30 MHz is obtained from the implemented isolation improvement module.

  • This study aims to present proper thickness of resilient mount and pattern of chips for the improvement of impact sound isolation. To achieve this aim, field tests were performed to evaluate the performance of impact sound isolation of pilot samples using waste tire chips against light and heavy-weight impacter, which samples were installed over concrete slabs of an apartment housing. In this study, the experiments were performed by the impact sound level of floors in KS F 2810 "Method for field measurement of floor impact level". As results, a flooring structure using waste tire chips as a resilient mount, with no relation to chip's types, has enhanced performance by 1~2 degree in light impact sound isolation, while it has improvement in heavy impact sound isolation. And fiber-type chips have better performance than granule-type ones when they overlaid concrete slab with 15~20 mm of thickness. For the improvement of impact sound isolation, it is recommended that insulating materials should be applied at joints between floating floors and walls, or floating floors and a doorframes, and also waterproof papers should be used for the effective thickness of resilient mount.ent mount.

  • The aims of this study were to Investigate the floor impact noise isolation performance of floating floor with isolation materials and propose the improvement direction of floor impact noise measurement method and evaluation classes using impact ball. Reduction of light-weight impact sound pressure level can be achieved by the finishing materials, such as vinyl finishing material and wooden flooring with isolation materials. Floor impact noise Isolation material which satisfy the properties of the floor impact noise isolation materials cause resonance in the low frequency band and worsen heavy-weight impact sound pressure level. Heavy-weight impact sound level can be reduced by using noise reduction flooring, ceiling and increase of slab thickness. Strong impact force in low frequency bang below 63Hz of bang machine is not similar to human impact source and causes some problem in evaluating heavy-weight impact noise but heavy-weight impact noise measurement and evolution using impact ball which is very similar to human impact is more reliable than bang machine. Correction value on the background noise and sensitivity of residents should be considered on the floor impact noise evaluation classes.

  • In this paper, a double split-ring resonator(DSRR) is proposed to improve the isolation between Vivaldi antenna elements. The DSRR was designed using a unit cell simulation and applied to a $1{\times}2$ Vivaldi antenna array to confirm the improvement in the isolation. The unit cell size of the proposed DSRR is $5mm{\times}5mm{\times}1.52mm$ and six unit cells are used. To verify the performance of the proposed DSRR, $1{\times}2$ Vivaldi antenna arrays with and without the DSRR were fabricated and measured. The results show an isolation improvement of 20 dB in the Vivaldi antennas with the DSRR when compared to the Vivaldi antennas without the DSRR.

  • Seismic isolation systems can improve the seismic safety of nuclear power plants by decreasing seismic force transmitted to structures and equipment. This study evaluates the effectiveness of equipment seismic isolation systems by the comparison of core damage frequencies in non-isolated and isolated cases. It can be found that the seismic isolation systems increase seismic capacity of nuclear equipment and decrease core damage frequencies significantly. The effect of equipment isolation is more significant in the PGA range of 0.3g to 0.5g.

  • In this paper, we have studied isolation enhancement using a suppression of surface wave to improve performance of array antenna. To reduce isolation between elements of array antenna, perfect magnetic conductor(PMC) and SOFT-surface is designed and located at center of ground plane, isolation and gain is simulated by commercial full wave simulator(HFSS). As a result, isolation of more than 40 dB and gain improvement of 2.2 dBi are obtained at E-plane array in case of both PMC and SOFT-surface. At H-plane array, air coupling is dominant compared to coupling by surface wave. It is conclude that this study is useful for design of compact array antenna and performance improvement of array antenna.

  • In this paper, we propose a method of isolation improvement for broadband antennas using a high-permeability substrate. The substrate is applied for a planar monopole antenna based on near-field analysis to maintain radiation characteristics at its operating frequency while improving isolation by minimizing mutual coupling with nearby antennas at other frequency bands. To verify isolation improvement, we compare performance variations of $S_{21}$ according to the existence of the substrate using the proposed antenna and a reference antenna whose operating frequency is 2 GHz. As a result, the radiation characteristics are maintained, and $S_{21}$ performance is improved by more than 5~10 dB in the frequency band of greater than 2 GHz, which demonstrates the isolation can be improved by using the high-permeability substrate.

  • Purpose: The negative pressure isolation ward is a key facility in preparedness and response to infectious diseases. For the sustainable operation of the facility, appropriate facility improvement is required. The experience of medical staff responding to infectious diseases in the COVID-19 pandemic provides effective informations for facility planning. Methods: The post occupancy evaluation (POE) was conducted by interviewing medical staff who is working on Nationally designated negative pressure isolation ward in general hospital. Floor plan analysis was conducted before field surveys for identifying facility characteristic and spatial composition. After that, field surveys were conducted at 3 hospitals, and interviews and fieldwork were conducted together. Results: It is necessary to increase the standard size of ward area from 15m2 to 20m2. The size of the doffing room has to be planned for accommodation of two or more people. Equipment storage, clean storage and waste storage also should be properly planned. There were almost no problems with the circulation in the ward. There was not enough space for medical staff. Implications: For a sustainable and safe negative pressure isolation ward planning, it is necessary to exploit learning from the medical staffs who have many experiences of coping with infectious diseases.

  • Floor impact sound has been most annoying for years among the noises which are produced in apartment. This study aims to analyze the improvement of floor impact sound by comparing the results of the test which was carried out for the wall slab type apartment and moment frame apartment, and also for the effect of advanced vibration isolation layer. Moment frame structure that main structure consists of column and slab has shown better performance for the heavyweight impact sound comparing with wall slab type structure which is general type in Korea. Stiffness of floor system was raised by reinforcing the stiffness of vibration isolation layer, and it was analyzed how much the floor impact sound performance was improved. The result showed that the reinforced floor had better performance than the existing floor system that uses lightweight porous concrete as vibration isolation material. In addition, a system used wire mesh in mortar showed improvement of floor impact sound than a system without wire mesh, and better performance for the frequency bands lower than 160 Hz which causes floor impact problem in wall slab type apartment.
