In the design of the fuel cell charger, it is important to find out the suitable topology and to design the converter to guarantee the performance of the fuel cell as well as the battery. Most of the chargers developed so far have used step-down converters. However, since the small fuel cell stack can only generate a low voltage, it is required to use the step-up converter to charge the battery. In this paper, a modified non-isolated boost charger topology for the Proton Exchange Membrane Fuel Cell (PEMFC) is proposed to meet the strict ripple requirements for the battery charge and its control method by using PI controller is detailed. The feasibility of the proposed topology and its control method is then verified by the experiments.
A new soft switching single stage AC-DC full bridge boost converter with unit input power factor and isolated output is presented. Due to using of the non-dissipative snubber in the primary side, a single stage high-power factor isolated full bridge boost converter has a significant reduction of switching losses in main switching devices and output rectifiers of the primary and secondary side, respectively. The non-dissipative snubber adopted in this study is consisted of a snubber capacitor C. and a snubber inductor $L_r$, a fast recovery snubber diode $D_r$, a commutation diode $D_p$. This paper presents the complete operating principles, theoretical analysis and simulation results.

Recently, the high frequency isolated boost DC/DC converter has been widely used for the PCS (Power Conditioning System) system because of its small size and low cost. However, the high frequency isolated boost DC/DC converters applied the conventional voltage-fed converter and current-fed converter have the problems such as the high conduction losses and the surge voltage due to the high circulating current and the leakage inductance, respectively. To overcome this problems, in this paper the secondary LLC resonant converter is proposed, and the experimental results of the secondary LLC series resonant converter for boost DC/DC converter are verified on the simulation based on the theoretical analysis and the 700W experimental prototype.
In this paper, an isolated ZVS-PWM boost converter is proposed for single stage line conversion. For power factor correction, we used the half bridge topology at the primary side of isolation transformer permitting switching devices to operate under ZVS by using circuit parastics and operating at a fixed duty ratio near 50%. Thus the relatively continuous input current distortion and small size input filter are also achievable. The ZVS-PWM boost operation of the proposed converter can be achieved by using the boost inductor $L_f$, main switch $Q_3$, and simple auxiliary circuit at the secondary side of isolation transformer. The secondary side circuit differ from a conventional PWM boost converter by introduction a simple auxiliary circuit. The auxiliary circuit is actived only during a short switching transition time to create the ZVS condition for the main switch as that of the ZVT-PWM boost converter. With a single stage, it is possible to achieve a sinusoidal line current at unity power factor as well as the isolated 48V DC output. Comparing to the two stage schemes, overall effiency of the proposed converter is highly improved due to the effective ZVS of all devices as well as single stage power conversion. Thus, it can be operated at high switching frequency allowing use of small size input filter. Minimum voltage and current stress make it high power application possible.

This paper suggests anon-isolated high-gain boost converter using voltage-stacking cell. The voltage gain can be increased by adjusting number of voltage-stacking cells and transformer turns-ratio. Test results with 1kW prototype converter show that the voltage gain is three or four times higher than conventional boost converter at unity transformer turns-ratio and about 90% of efficiency is recorded under full load condition.
A new isolated boost dc to dc convertor suitable for a low input voltage application is proposed. The proposed convertor features the low switch current stresses, the wide input voltage range operation, and the inherent inrush current protection characteristics, essential to design a low to high voltage conversion circuit. A comparative analysis and experimental results are presented to show the validity of the proposed convertor.

This paper presents an isolated bidirectional dc/dc converter based on primary parallel isolated boost converter (PPIBC). This topology is an efficient solution in low voltage high power applications due to its ability to handle high currents in the low voltage side. In this paper, the converter has been modeled using non-ideal components and operated without any additional circuitry for startup using a digital soft-start procedure. Simulated and measured loop gains have been compared for the validity of the model. On-the-fly current direction change has been achieved with a prototype interconnecting two battery banks. A second prototype has been constructed and tested for supercapacitor operation in constant power charge mode.

In this paper, a new three-phase interleaved isolated high efficiency boost dc-dc converter with active clamp is proposed. The converter is capable of increased power transfer due to its three-phase power configuration, and it reduces the rms current per phase, thus reducing conduction losses. Further, interleaved operation of three-phase boost converter reduces overall ripple current, which is imposed into fuel cells and realizes smaller sized filter components, increasing effective operating frequency and leading to higher power density. Each output current of three-phase boost converter is combined by the three-phase transformer and flows in the continuous conduction mode by the proposed three-phase PWM strategy. An efficiency of above 96% is mainly achieved by reducing conduction losses and switching losses are reduced by the action of active clamp branches, as well. The proposed converter and three-phase PWM strategy are analyzed, simulated and implemented in hardware. Experimental results are obtained on a 500 W prototype unit, with all of the design verified and analyzed.

An interleaved operation of isolated boost converter system has become a very attractive solution in order to convert from low input voltage (30 ~ 50V) of distributed power sources such as photovoltaic and fuel cells to high output voltage (380V/760V) required in grid-connected power conversion applications. In this paper, we have proposed zero voltage transition(ZVT) interleaved boost converter using a single resonant inductor.
