A Study on the Protective Function Performance Evaluation of Grid-Connected Power Conditioning System for Residential Fuel Cell System (가정용 연료전지시스템 계통연계형 전력변환장치의 보호기능 성능평가에 관한 연구)

  • In this paper, protective function evaluation was conducted to determine the performance and safety of a power conditioning system(PCS) for 1kW residential fuel cell system. It is essential to have a power quality, grid-connection and safety of PCS. Even though it is under 500ms by KGS-A410 standard, it is shown a rapid response time of 25ms from input under-voltage test. In terms of output over/under-voltage test, it is shown 29.15 and 79.4ms. Especially using anti-islanding test, it is shown all times under 100ms for combination cases of real and reactive power. We confirmed a rapid response characteristics and safety of PCS. The results of this evaluation are being used to develop a new test protocols of PCS.

  • This paper proposes a modeling method and operating algorithm of an islanding microgrid that is composed of a Battery Energy Storage System (BESS), wind turbine and diesel generator applied in island areas. Initially, the bilateral AC/DC converter was designed for charge/discharge for frequency and voltage to be maintained within the proper ranges according to the load and weather change, and the operating method was proposed for a diesel generator to operate when power supply from the wind turbine or BESS is insufficient. The proposed modeling and controller design method of BESS was applied to a typical islanded microgrid with a wind turbine and diesel generator. The frequency and voltage was kept within the permissible ranges and the proposed method was proven to be appropriate through simulations.

  • This paper proposes an indirect current control technique based on a proportional resonant (PR) approach for the seamless mode transfer of utility interactive inverters. Direct-current and voltage hybrid control methods have been used for inverter control under grid-connected and islanded modes. A large bandwidth can be selected due to the structure of single-loop control. However, this results in poor dynamic transients due to sudden changes of the controller during mode changes. Therefore, inverter control based on indirect current is proposed to improve the dynamic transients by consistently controlling the output voltage under all of the operation modes. A PR-based indirect current control topology is used in this study to maintain the load voltage quality under all of the modes. The design processes of the PR-based triple loop are analyzed in detail while considering the system stability and dynamic transients. The mode transfer techniques are described in detail for both sudden unintentional islanding and islanded mode voltage quality improvements. In addition, they are described using the proposed indirect control structure. The proposed method is verified by the PSiM simulations and laboratory-scale VDER-HILS experiments.

  • Recently, standardization of installation progress and technology of site acceptance test(SAT) for energy storage system(ESS) are being required due to performance of ESS depending on working condition and environment even though the quality and safety of each component of ESS is guaranteed. And also, it has been required to perform not only performance testing by H/W equipments but also performance verification by S/W tool, in order to more accurately and reliably validate the performance of the ESS in advanced countries. Therefore, this paper proposes evaluation algorithm for SAT to evaluate performance of ESS and presents modeling of SAT test equipment for ESS by using PSCAD/EMTDC. Furthermore, 30[kW] scaled portable test equipments is implemented based on the proposed algorithm and modeling. From the various simulation and test results, it is confirmed that performance of ESS related to characteristics of capacity and Round-trip efficiency, Duty-cycle efficiency, low voltage ride through(LVRT) and Anti-islanding can be accurately evaluated and that the simulation results of PSCAD/EMTDC are identical to test results of 30[kW] test equipment.

  • This paper proposes an enhanced distributed generation (DG) unit with an adaptive virtual impedance control approachin order to address the inaccurate reactive power sharing problems. The proposed method can adaptively regulate the DG unit thanks to the equivalent impedance, andthe effect of the mismatch in feeder impedance is compensatedto share the reactive power accurately.The proposed control strategy can be implemented directly without any requirement of pre-knowledge of the feeder impedances. Simulations are performed to validate the effectiveness of the proposed control approach.

  • 계통 연계형 인버터는 규정 시간 내에 반드시 단독운전 상황을 검출해야 한다. 계통 사로고 인해 계통전력이 차단되면 인버터가 이 상황을 제대로 감지하지 못 해 계통에 연결된 인버터가 계속 동작을 하게 된다면 위험한 상황을 초래하게 될 수도 있다. 이로 인해 계통연계형 인버터는 규정 시간 내에 계통이 이상을 감지하고 인버터의 동작을 멈추어야 한다. 이런 단독운전 상황을 방지하기 위해 본 논문에서 제시하는 알고리즘은 구현 자체가 간단하지만 기존의 알고리즘으로는 검출할 수 없었던 영역을 검출할 수 있고, 검출 속도 또한 개선을 했다. 실험 결과를 통해 알고리즘의 타당성을 검증하였다.

  • 본 논문에서는 분산전원의 계통 연계형 시스템에서의 단독운전 검출 방식인 RPV(Reactive Power Variation)기법에 대한 고찰과 주파수 검출 방식을 분석한다. IEEE 929 - 2000에 근거하여 RPV 기법에서의 NDZ에 대하여 살펴보고, PLL(Phase Locked Loop) 기법을 이용한 주파수 검출에 대한 분석 및 설계와 이를 통한 단독운전 검출을 하고자 한다. 시뮬레이션을 통하여 타당성을 검증하였다.

  • In industrial field, especially the mobile generator is almost used as a islanding generator source for light, electric thrill, and compressor, and so on. However, because there still exists a lot of aged load, it causes the electric shock against person. In this paper authors introduce the proper method to reduce the electric shock in field discussing the scheme of ground connection.
