A multi-layer design is applied to mitigate single event effect (SEE) in a 28 nm System-on-Chip (SoC). It depends on asymmetric multiprocessing (AMP), redundancy and system watchdog. Irradiation tests utilized 70 and 90 MeV proton beams to examine its performance through comparative analysis. Via examining SEEs in on-chip memory (OCM), compared with the trial without applying the multi-layer design, the test results demonstrate that the adopted multi-layer design can effectively mitigate SEEs in the SoC.

Capsules containing NaCl-MgCl2 salt with 316L stainless steel or alloy N samples were irradiated in the Ohio State University Research Reactor for 21 nonconsecutive hours. A custom irradiation vessel was designed for this purpose, and details on its design and construction are given. Stainless steel samples that were irradiated during exposure had less corrosive attack than samples exposed to the same conditions without irradiation. Alloy N samples showed no significant effect of irradiation. This work shows a method for conducting in-reactor irradiation-corrosion experiments in static molten salts and presents preliminary data showing that neutron irradiation may decelerate corrosion of alloys in molten chloride salts.
In this thesis, output voltage, current and power of solar module were classified by irradiation from data of overall operating characteristics collected for one year in order to manage efficient photovoltaic generation system and deliver maximum power. In addition, from these data, correlations between irradiation of photovoltaic cell and amount of power given by photovoltaic cell was quantitatively examined to deduce optimization of the design and construction of photovoltaic generation system. As I-V characteristics according to a temperature range of 10~50[$^{\circ}C$], the area of I-V characteristics were increased with an increase in temperature. Since this area corresponds to the power, output power is thought to have increased with temperature. As output power characteristics according to a temperature range of 10~50[$^{\circ}C$], output power was increased with an increase in temperature. Since output power increases with temperature increase, the result corresponds well to the related equation on temperature and output power. As I-V characteristics according to a irradiation range of 100~900 [$W/m^2$], voltage and current were increased with an increase in irradiation. The result is thought of as an increase in output power with increasing irradiation. As output power characteristics according to a irradiation range of 100~900 [$W/m^2$], output power was increased with increasing irradiation. This result corresponds well to the related equation on irradiation and output power.
Computer simulation of buildings and solar energy systems are being used increasingly in energy assessments and design. This paper discusses the possibility of using sunshine duration data instead of global hourly solar irradiation (GHSI) data for localities with abundant data on sunshine duration. For six locations in South Korea where global radiation is currently measured, the global radiation was calculated using Sunshine Duration Radiation Model (SDRM), compared and analyzed. Results of SDRM has been compared with the measured data on the coefficients of determination (R2), root-mean-square error (RMSE) and mean bias error (MBE). This study recommends the use of sunshine duration based irradiation models if measured solar radiation data is not available.
Many researchers have studied the effectiveness of ultrasound in chemical and environmental engineering fields including material synthesis, pollutant removal, cleaning, extraction, and disinfection. Acoustic cavitation induced by ultrasound irradiation in aqueous phase can cause various sonophysical and sonochemical reactions without any chemicals. However most of the previous studies focused only on the relationships between ultrasonic conditions and the results of sonochemical reactions in lab-scale sonoreactors. As a results of this, only a few studies have been devoted to design and optimization of industrial scale sonoreactors. In this study, the effect of the distance between two opposite transducer modules on sonochemical reactions was investigated in single and dual irradiation systems (334 kHz) for four distances including 50, 100, 150, and 200 mm using KI dosimetry. It was found that the dual irradiation systems provided higher performance in terms of the zeroth reaction coefficient and the cavitation yield compared to the single irradiation systems. The sonochemiluminescence (SCL) images for the visualization of the cavitation field showed that cavitation active zone was larger and sonochemical reaction intensity was much higher in the dual irradiation system than in the single irradiation system.

A new irradiation loop design has been developed, which provides the ability to carry out radiolytic resistance studies of extraction systems simulating process relevant conditions in an easy and simple way. The step-by-step loop configuration permits an easy modification of settings and has a relative low volume requirement. This irradiation loop has been initially set up to test the main EURO-GANEX process steps: the lanthanide (Ln) and actinide (An) co-extraction followed by the transuranic (TRU) stripping. The performance and changes in the composition have been analyzed during the irradiation experiment by different techniques: gamma spectroscopy and ICP-MS for the extraction and corrosion behavior of the full system, and HPLC-MS and Raman spectroscopy to determine the degradation of the organic and aqueous solvents, respectively. The Ln and An co-extraction step and the corrosion that occurred during the first irradiation step revealed the favorable expected results according to literature. The effects of acidity changes occurred during the irradiation process, the presence of stainless corrosion products in solution as well as the new possible degradation compounds have been explored in the An stripping step. The results obtained demonstrate the importance of developing realistic irradiation experiments where different factors affecting the performance can be easily studied and isolated.

The FTL has been developed to be able to irradiate test fuels at the irradiation hole(IR1 hole) by considering its utility and user's irradiation requirements. FTL consists of In-Pile Test Section (IPS) and Out-of-Pile System (OPS). Test condition in IPS such as pressure, temperature and the water quality, can be controlled by OPS. For safety assurance IPS is designed to have dual stainless steel pressure vessel and OPS is composed of main cooling water system, emergency cooling water system, LMP(letdown, make-up, purification) system, etc. FTL Conceptual design was set up in 2001, basic design had completed including a design requirement, basic piping & instrument diagram (P&ID), and the detail design in 2004. In 2005, the development team carried out purchase and manufacture hardware and make a contract for construction work. FTL construction work began on August, 2006 and ended on March, 2007. After FTL development which is expected to be finished by 2008, FTL will be used for the irradiation test of the new PWR-type fuel and can maximize the usage of HANARO.
Poly(butylene terephthalate)(PBT) surface was modified by UV/ozone irradiation and the effect of UV energy on the surface properties of the irradiated PBT films were characterized by the reflectance, surface roughness, contact angles, ESCA, and ATR analyses of the film surface. The surface reflectance, at the short wavelength of visible spectrum of particularly 400nm, decreased with increasing UV energy. And the irradiation roughened the film surface uniformly in the nano scale. The maximum surface roughness increased from 110nm for the unirradiated sample to 303nm at the UV energy of $10.6J/cm^2$. The surface energy of PBT film increased from $50.5mJ/m^2$ for the unirradiated PBT to $58.8mJ/m^2$ at the irradiation of $21.2J/cm^2$. The improvement in hydrophilicity was caused by the introduction of polar groups containing oxygens such as C-O and C=O bonds resulting in higher $O_{1s}/C_{1s}$. The increased dyeability of the modified film to cationic dyes may be resulted from the photochemically introduced anionic and dipolar dyeing sites on the PBT films surfaces.
