A composite electrode made of iron oxide nanoparticles/multi-wall carbon nanotube (iNPs/M) delivers high specific capacity and cycle durability. At a rate of $200mAg^{-1}$, the electrode shows a high discharge capacity of ${\sim}664mAhg^{-1}$ after 100 cycles, which is ~ 70% of the theoretical capacity of $Fe_3O_4$. Carbon black, carbon nanotube, and graphene as anode materials have been explored to improve the electrical conductivity and cycle stability in Li ion batteries. Herein, iron oxide nanoparticles on acid treated MWCNTs as a conductive platform are combined to enhance the drawbacks of $Fe_3O_4$ such as low electrical conductivity and volume expansion during the alloying/dealloying process. Enhanced performance was achieved due to a synergistic effect between electrically 3D networks of conductive MWCNTs and the high Li ion storage ability of $Fe_3O_4$ nanoparticles (iNPs).
In this study, the effect of the various operating conditions on the removal of $Cr^{6+}$ from $Cr^{6+}$ containing wastewater which has strong toxicity by using electrolysis with iron electrode as anode and aluminum electrode as cathode was investigated. The removal efficiency of $Cr^{6+}$ was increased as the pH was decreased, as the distance of electrode was decreased and the voltage was increased. The reaction temperature slightly affected the removal efficiency. The optimum conditions for the treatment of $Cr^{6+}$ containing wastewater were initial pH 3, 5 volt and the distance of electrode was 1cm. The feasibility of the electrochemical treatment to the $Cr^{6+}$ containing industrial wastewater was verified from this study.

Determination of iron(II) ion with a perfluorinated sulfonated polymer(nafion)-ethylenediamine(en) modified glassy carbon electrode was studied. It was based on the chemical reactivity of an immobilized layer(nafion-en) to yield complex $[Fe(en)_3]^{+2}$. The oxidation peak potential by differential pulse voltammetry(DPV) was observed at 0.340${\pm}$0.015 V(vs. Ag/AgCl). The linear calibration curve was obtained in iron(II) ion concentration range $5{\times}10^{-6}{\sim}0.2{\times}10^{-3} M(0.28{\sim}11.17\; mg/L)$, and the detection limit(3s) was $1.89{\times}10^{-5}$M(1.056 mg/L).
An on-line corrosion rate measurement system was developed using a personal computer, a data acquisition board and program, and a 2-electrode corrosion probe. Reliability of the developed system was confirmed with through comparison test. With this system, the effect of sodium nitrite ($NaNO_2$) as a corrosion inhibitor were studied on iron and aluminum brass that were immersed in sodium chloride (NaCl) solution. Corrosion rate was measured based on the linear polarization resistance method. The corrosion rates of aluminum brass and iron in 1% NaCl solutions were measured to be 0.290 mm per year (mmpy) and 0.2134 mmpy, respectively. With the addition of 200 ppm of $NO{_2}^-$, the corrosion rates decreased to 0.0470 mmpy and 0.0254 mmpy. The addition of $NO{_2}^-$ caused a decrease in corrosion rates of both aluminum brass and iron, yet the $NO{_2}^-$ acted as a more effective corrosion inhibitor for iron. than aluminum brass.

Cold arc welding of cast iron has been widely used with repair welding of metal structures. However its welding is often resulted in the galvanic corrosion between weld metal zone and heat affected zone(HAZ) due to increasing of hardness. In this study, corrosion properties such as hardness, corrosion potential, surface microstructures, and variation of corrosion current density of welding zone with parameters of used electrodes for cast iron welding were investigated with an electrochemical evaluation. Hardness of HAZ showed the highest value compared to other welding zone regardless of kinds of used electrodes for cast iron welding. And its corrosion potential was also shifted to more negative direction than other welding zone. In addition, corrosion current density of WM in polarization curves was qualitatively smaller than that of HAZ. Therefore galvanic corrosion may be apparently observed at HAZ. However galvanic corrosion may be somewhat controlled by using an optimum welding electrode.

In this study, aluminum electrodes were put in marine clay which was taken from the south coast in Korea to increase the undrained shear strength by inducing the densification and cementation between clay particles and precipitates which were developed by electric decomposition in an electrode. To raise the cementation rate and reduce treatment time, high electric current (2.5A) was applied in each electrode at a semi-pilot scale soil box with marine clay. After the tests, the undrained shear strength was measured at designated points using a static cone penetration test device and sampling was conducted simultaneously in order to measure water content, pH and electric conductivity which would be the key for configuring the cementation effects indirectly. In the results of electric decomposition in aluminum electrode, the measured shear strength was increased considerably compared to the initial shear strength because of the cementation effect between iron ions and soil particles.
Olivine structure of $LiFePO_4$ (LFP) is one of the most commonly used materials in aqueous rechargeable lithium batteries (ARLBs), and can store and release charge through the insertion/de-insertion of $Li^+$ between LFP and FP. We have fabricated LFP and LFP/FP electrodes on titanium paper and studied their electrochemical properties in 2 M $Li_2SO_4$. The LFP/FP electrode was determined to be a suitable electrode for electo-ostmotic pump (EOP) in terms of efficiency in water and 0.5 mM $Li_2SO_4$ solution. Experiments to determine the effect of cations and anions on the performance of EOP using LFP/FP electrode have shown that $Li^+$ is the best cation and that the anion does not significantly affect the performance of the EOP. As the concentration of $Li_2SO_4$ solution was increased, the current increased. The flow rate peaked at $4.8{\mu}L/30s$ in 1.0 mM $Li_2SO_4$ solution and then decreased. When the EOP was tested continuously in 1.0 mM $Li_2SO_4$ solution, the EOP transported approximately 35 mL of fluid while maintaining a stable flow rate and current for 144 h.

In order to treat electrolysis nickel plating pickling wastewater to meet the effluent limit less than 3.0 mg/L, the electrolysis process by using soluble and insoluble electrode were studied. Electrolysis using soluble electrodes has a characteristic of easy elution from the electrode which the insoluble electrodes close not release metal from the electrode. For these reasons, there exist different characteristics in nickel removal efficiency, purity of nickel sludge. With this connection, the feasibility test were concluded to develop optimal conditions for the treatment of pickling wastewater electrolysis by using soluble electrodes, insoluble electrodes. Optimal condition of current density, pH were derived from the pickling wastewater using insoluble electrodes. It was concluded the highest removal efficiency of nickel at the operation condition of at pH 9, current density of $15mA/cm^2$. At these conditions, 95.3% purity of nickel sludge was achieved, iron content was 2.9%. Optimal condition when using soluble electrodes was derived current density of $10mA/cm^2$, pH 9. Purity of nickel sludge was 77.3%, iron content was 21.0%. 50.7% and 24.2% of operating cost can be saved by the use of soluble electrodes and the use of insoluble electrodes, respectively.
Incorporation of metalloporphyrins into polypyrrole (PPy) film was achieved either by electropolymerization of pyrrole in the presence of metal-tetra(sulfonatophenyl)porphyrin anion (MTSPP, M=Co, Fe) or by metalizing hydrogenated tetra(4-sulfonatophenyl)porphyrin anion (H2TSPP) doped into PPy through ion-exchange. Electrochemical reduction of oxygen on the PPy doped with metallo porphyrin (PPy-MTSPP) was studied in acidic and basic solutions. Oxygen reduction on PPy-MTSPP electrodes appeared to proceed through a 4-electron pathway as well as a 2-electron path. In acidic solutions, the overpotential for O2 reduction on PPy-CoTSPP electrode was smaller than that on gold by about 0.2 V. In basic solutions the overpotential of the PPy-CoTSPP electrode in the activation range was close to those of Au and Pt. The limiting current was close to that of Au. However, polypyrrole doped with cobalt-tetra(sulfonatophenyl)porphyrin anion (PPy-CoTSPP) or with iron-tetra(sulfonatophenyl)porphyrin anion (PPy-FeTSPP) was found to have limited potential windows at high temperatures (above 50 ℃), and hence the electrode could not be held at the oxygen reduction potentials in basic solutions (pH 13) without degradation of the polymer.
The micro particle,s shapes of the magnetic films obtained by electrode position of Iron ions and Cobalt-Iron mixed ions in aluminum anodic oxidized films are dependent on the size of particle diameter. When the diameter of deposited particles is larger than $300\AA$, the film plane anisotropy caused by bottom extremity increases, and the crystalization orientation of FeC deposited unusually in the part of the bottom extremities affects on the coercive force Hc and the magnetic anisotropy energy Ku. It was confirmed that the shape anisotropy of particle affects on the both Hc and Ku because the FeC did not deposit in the Iron deposited samples entirely, but in the Cobalt-Iron alloy deposited samples, the effects by the very strong crystalization orientation of the FeC is larger than that of the shape anisotropy. From these results, the Cobalt-Iron alloyed films could switchover the film plane magnetic anisotropy to the perpendicular magnetic anisotropy energy by using the constrainting method of FeC deposition with Cu deposition instead of Cobalt-Iron alloy in the bottom extremities.
