  • The purpose of this study was to examine university students' consumption-orientation and attitude toward conspicuous consumption as well as to identify the factors that are most influential on consumption-orientation and conspicuous consumption behavior. The major findings of this study are summarized below. First, the average scores of consumption-orientation and conspicuous consumption were 2.71 and 3.15 respectively, on a 5 point scale. Second, the most influential factor on university students' consumption-orientation was friends' influence. Third, the most influential factor on conspicuous consumption was students' perceived social status. Fourth, conspicuous consumption tendency and consumption-orientation were significantly higher for those students with larger amount of allowances, female students, or the students who are working. Fifth, the university students' consumption-orientation and conspicuous consumption tendency were significantly higher for the students whose parents' child-rearing style is inconsistent or excessive investment. Finally, the consumption orientation has a significant positive relationship with conspicuous consumption.

The degree of rate level of telecommunications services. The objective of this article is to set up the principle which will be applied to decide the level of total revenue requirement(TRR) of telecommunications services in Korea. The trait of the principle is to specify the relation between the investment volume in telecommunications and gross fixed capital formation (G. F. C. F)at the national level. This article also proposes the m,d-term alternatives of strategic variables for the application of the principle.

  • Artificial intelligence (AI) is software that learns large amounts of data and provides the desired results for certain patterns. In other words, learning a large amount of data is very important, and the role of memory in terms of computing systems is important. Massive data means wider bandwidth, and the design of the memory system that can provide it becomes even more important. Providing wide bandwidth in AI systems is also related to power consumption. AlphaGo, for example, consumes 170 kW of power using 1202 CPUs and 176 GPUs. Since more than 50% of the consumption of memory is usually used by system chips, a lot of investment is being made in memory technology for AI chips. MRAM, PRAM, ReRAM and Hybrid RAM are mainly studied. This study presents various memory technologies that are being studied in artificial intelligence chip design. Especially, MRAM and PRAM are commerciallized for the next generation memory. They have two significant advantages that are ultra low power consumption and nearly zero leakage power. This paper describes a comparative analysis of the four representative new memory technologies.

  • Odor control for livestock and compost facilities has focused on manure handling and treatment during storage and land application, however, large amount of malodorous air is emitted and it is one of main sources of malodour in livestock farming. Biological treatment or biodegradation involves converting an organic contaminant to carbon dioxide and water using natural bacteria. Biofiltration is an effective air pollution control technology that uses microorganisms to breakdown gaseous contaminants and produce innocuous end products. Investment and operating costs on the biofiltration are lower than for thermal and chemical oxidation processes. This paper is intended to provide an overview of basic design and operating criteria for biofilters to control odors from livestock and compost facilities.

  • A new transplant production system that produces high quality plug seedlings of specific crop has been studied. It is a plant factory designed to produce massive amount of virus free seedlings. The design concept for building this plant factory is to realize maximum energy efficiency and minimum initial investment and running cost. The basic production strategy is the sitespecific management. In this case, the management of the growth of individual plantlet is considered. This requires highly automated and information intensive production system in a closed aseptic environment the sterilized specific crops. One of the key components of this sophisticated system is the irrigation system. The conditions that this irrigation system has to satisfy are: 1. to perform the site specific crop management in irrigation and 2. to meet the no waste standard. The objective of this study is to develop an irrigation scheduling that can implement the no waste standard.

  • TCA(Total Cost Assessment) can be defined by a tool to evaluate actual profit about investment. Also, It can be used by method to make more reasonable decision-making in business. Enforcement of 'direct payment system' for environment friendship farmhouse of government is spreading recent times. But, it is true that it is no definite standard about appropriation of disbursement amount of money. TCA method can be utilized usefully for solution of these problem. Also, It will help to decide price grasping invisible cost and environment cost. Therefore, We tried that may can apply TCA theory in farmhouse class, and attempted economic performance estimation which use this. This study introduces TCA theory and developed applicable expense list in agriculture field. Also, We applied TCA theory to farmhouse. This theories referenced domestic and th6 foreign countries, connection literature. But, It handled part about invisible cost and social cost etc..

  • This study is concerned with a design algorithm to minimize the investment as well as maximize the throughput in automated warehouse system. A simulation model is designed and a solution methodology is proposed. The experiment, are conducted for the cases with 100, 90, 80, 70, 60, 50 and 0 % dual command policies in terms of the important factors such as the crane velocity, the height of system and the rack utilization. The results indicate that the throughput is slightly decreased when the ratio of dual command is decreased and the other characteristics however are not affected. The result also shows that the optimal rack should be designed for a crane to take the same amount of travel time for horizontal and vertical movement.

  • The problem of selecting a portfolio is to find Un investment plan that achieves a desired return while minimizing the risk involved. One stream of algorithms are based upon mixed integer linear programming models and guarantee an integer optimal solution. But these algorithms require too much time to apply to real problems. Another stream of algorithms are fur a near optimal solution and are fast enough. But, these also have a weakness in that the solution generated can't be guaranteed to be integer values. Since it is not a trivial job to tansform the scullion into integer valued one simutaneously maintaining the quality of the solution, they are not easy to apply to real world portfolio selection. To tackle the problem more efficiently, we propose an algorithm which generates a very good integer solution in reasonable amount of time. The algorithm is tested using Korean stock market data to verify its accuracy and efficiency.

  • The technologies in medical electronic implant(MEI) devices are developing rapidly, and already, there are various kinds of the MEI devices in the current medical equipments market. Recently, the global market scale of MEI devices have been increased about 13% year by year, and the import amount of MEI devices in Korea is increasing rapidly. In the near future, the demands of MEI devices will be magnificently increasing by the continuous development of the biomedical electronics devices which coupled with neural, brain and other organs will bring us to tremendous effects, such as providing new therapeutic solutions to patients, extension and saving human life, and an important clue of medical development. However, the investment of the research and the activity of developments in this field are still very weak in the Korea. Consequently, this paper introduces about the research trends of MEI devices, and technological problems those must be solved, and then concludes with the suggestions in order to be the leading country in this field.

  • An EOQ-like inventory model for a manufacturing process is studied. The system is assumed to deteriorate during the production process. The results are either the production of a number of defective items, or the breakdown of the production machine. The optimal production lot size is derived. The model is extended to the case in which the probabilities of making defective items and machine breakdowns are a function of both the quantity (amount) and quality (performance) of the consumed setup cost (including the preventive maintenance cost). We further assume that the setup performance can be improved by investing in the performance improvement program. Hence, the same or a better setup outcome can be achieved with a lower setup cost. We then investigate the optimal setup cost and investment policy simultaneously, thereby achieving a better process quality and setup cost reduction concurrently.
