This paper presents a control method for variable-speed motor drives that do not use a DC-link electrolytic capacitor. The proposed circuit consists of a power factor correction converter for boosting the DC-link voltage, an inverter for driving the motor, and a small DC-link film capacitor. By employing a small DC-link capacitor, the proposed circuit that is small, and a low cost and weight are achieved. However, because the DC-link voltage varies periodically, the control of the circuit is more difficult than that of the conventional method. Using the proposed control method, an inverter can be controlled reliably even when the capacitance of the DC-link capacitor is very small. Experiments are performed using a 1.5-kW inverter with a $20-{\mu}F$ DC-link capacitor, and the experimental results are analyzed thoroughly.

PWM(Pluse Width Modulation) induction motor drives are being used in greater numvers through a wide variety of industrial and commercial applications. In this paper, a new speed control algorithm (hybrid algorithm) for induction motor drives that uses regular sampled PWM and harmonic elimination PWM is presented. The hybrid algorithm in implemeted on the computer to obtain solutions from the calculation equations of the width of the pulses and the firing angles for the selected harmonic elimination. this paper describes the time delay effects and the suitable compensating methods moreover, optical transmission system for driving signals is proposed and is compared with general trnasmission system. The hybrid inverter was tested with induction motor, and these test results are shown that this hybrid inverter closely approximates and exhibits many of the desirable performance characteristic distortions and eliminated the objectionable harmonics. Finally, detailed experimental investigation of the proposed hybrid scheme in presented.

Multi-level inverters are now receiving widespread interest form the industrial drives for high power variable speed applications. Especially, for the high power variable speed applications, a diode clamped multi-level inverter has been widely used. However, it has the inherent problem that the voltage of the link capacitors fluctuates. This paper describes a voltage control scheme effectively to suppress the DC-link potential fluctuation for a diode clamped four-level inverter. The current to flow from/into the each link capacitor is analyzed and the operation limit is obtained when a conventional SVPWM is used. To overcome the operation limit, a modified carrier-based SVPWM is proposed. Various simulation and experiment results are presented to verify the proposed voltage control scheme for DC-link voltage balancing.

The geometrical algorithm for generating a 3-phase SPWM signal for VVVF (Variable Voltage, Variable Frequency) inverter drives is proposed. In this techniques, it is suitable for micro-processor based implementation since the pulsewiths are computable in real time from simple analytic expressions. System hardware consists of the inverter circuit and the 3-phase SPWM signal generating circuit. The inverter circuit is a 3-phase SPWM signal generating circuit is single board micro-processor consisting of Z-80A CPU, EPROMXI, CTC, PIO. The method of controlling VVVF at the inverter output is discussed here.
The ac servo system using an induction motor is so strong and inexpensive that it is most suitable for today's drive systems. For controlled ac motor drives, but slip frequency vector control system have been put to practical use, it is difficult to perform control of wide range, the same as de motor. A study is presented on an adaptive current control scheme for induction type ac servo motor drives using PWM inverter. An analysis of the control scheme in operations is given and the characteristics are studied by simulation. The implementation of the control scheme using a microprocessor-based system is considered.

This paper presents a solution that an analytical model for an induction motor and the formula of regenerative power and instantaneous torque are derived. based on the spiral vector. The torque is controlled linearly through variations of the slip angular velocity, based on the field acceleration method (FAM). And also PWM inverter fed induction motor drives is schemed to be easily a regenerative drive. The voltage source inverter fed induction motor drives that regenerative power occurs with back current type is presented, to easily controlled the feedback power and to proper the adaption of energy shaving drives. The experimental tests verify the performance of the FAM, proving that food behavior of the drive is achieved in the transient and steady state operating condition, and are discussed to save the power that regenerative power is measured at the operating acceleration or deceleration of servo system.

In this paper, Inverter drives adopting 2 phase space vector SRP-PWM (Separately Randomized Pulse Position PWM) with fixed switching frequency is proposed. The proposed 2 phase space vector SRP-PWM scheme is based on the 3 phase SRP-PWM. In the proposed SRP-PWM scheme, each of two phase pulses is located randomly in each switching interval. The experimental results show that the voltage and acoustic noise harmonics are spread to a wide band area. Also, the performance of the proposed 2 phase SRP-PWM and the conventional center aligned SVM are compared to each other. In result, the speed response is nearly similar to each other from the viewpoint of the v/f constant control.
The paper describes the correction of the switching dead times avoiding a bridge leg short circuit in pulse width modulated voltage sorce inverters. The co consequences on AC variable speed drives with synchronous and asynchronous motors are described by harmonic analysis and by computer simulation.
This paper presents a current mode integrated control technique (CM-ICT) using a modified voltage space vector modulation (MSVM) for Z-source inverter (ZSI) fed induction motor drives. MSVM provides a better DC voltage boost in the dc-link, a wide range of AC output voltage controllability and a better line harmonic profile. In a voltage mode ICT (VM-ICT), the outer voltage feedback loop alone is designed and it enforces the desired line voltage to the motor drive. An integrated control technique (ICT), with an inner current feedback loop is proposed in this paper for the purpose of line current limiting and soft operation of the drive. The current command generated by the PI controller and limiter in the outer voltage feedback loop, is compared with the actual line current, and the error is processed through the PI controller and a limiter. This limiter ensures that, the voltage control signal to the Z-source inverter is constrained to a safe level. The rise and fall of the control signal voltage are made to be gradual, so as to protect the induction motor drive and the Z-source inverter from transients. The single stage controller arrangement of the proposed CM-ICT offers easier compensation. Analysis, Matlab/Simulink simulations, and experimental results have been presented to validate the proposed technique.
This paper presents accurate solutions for nonlinear transcendental equations of the selective harmonic elimination technique used in three-phase PWM inverters feeding the induction motor by particle swarm optimization (PSO). With the proposed approach, the required switching angles are computed efficiently to eliminate low order harmonics up to the $23^{rd}$ from the inverter voltage waveform, whereas the magnitude of the fundamental component is controlled to the desired value. A set of solutions and the evaluation of the proposed method are presented. The obtained results prove that the algorithm converges to a precise solution after several iterations. The salient contribution of the paper is the application of the particle swarm algorithm to attenuate successfully any undesired loworder harmonics from the inverter output voltage. The current paper demonstrates that the PSO is a promising approach to control the operation of a three-phase voltage source inverter with a selective harmonic elimination strategy to be applied in induction motor drives.
