A reliability model of Level II AFDA is developed to analyze the stability of armor units on the sloped coastal structures. Additionally, the partial safety factors of random variables related to armor units can be straightforwardly evaluated by applying the inverse-reliability method in which influence coefficients and uncertainties of random variables, and target probability of failure are combined directly. In particular, a design equation for armor units is derived in terms of the same criteria as deterministic design method in order to apply the reliability-based design method of Level I without some understanding to the reliability analysis. Finally, it is confirmed that several results redesigned by the reliability-based design method of Level I have satisfactorily agreement with results of CEM as well as those of Level II AFDA.
An efficient and accurate algorithm is proposed to estimate cable safety factor of suspension bridges satisfying prescribed reliability levels. Uncertainties in the structure and load parameters are incorporated. The proposed algorithm integrates the concepts of the inverse reliability method and deterministic method for assessing cable safety factors of suspension bridges. The unique feature of the proposed method is that it offers a tool for cable safety assessment of suspension bridges, when the reliability level is specified as a target to be satisfied by the designer. After the accuracy and efficiency of the method are demonstrated through two numerical examples, the method is used to estimate cable safety factors of suspension bridges with span length ranging from 2000 to 5000 m. The results show that the deterministic method overestimates cable safety factor of suspension bridges because of neglecting the parameter uncertainty effects. The actual cable safety factor of suspension bridges should be estimated based on the proposed method.
Numerical analysis and its inverse design process of 2nd stage of JT8D aircraft engine is described. One of the most important factors that affect the performante of turbomachine is secondary flow in the blade passage, so that the performance of turbomachine can be improved by controlling secondary flow. In this paper, as a method to control secondary flow, commercial inverse design program, TurboDesign is used. Meridional derivative of angular momentum is selected as a parameter to control blade leading in this program, To validate inverse designed model, computational analysis is applied which includes rotor-stator-interaction. In this paper, CFB results of both original and inverse designed model are compared to examine how much the performance improves without reduction of work output.

We propose the Bayesian testing for the equality of two independent Inverse Gaussian population means using the fractional Bayesian factors suggested by O' Hagan(1995). As prior distribution for the parameters, we assumed the noninformative priors. In order to investigate the usefulness of the proposed Bayesian testing procedures, the behaviors of the proposed results are examined via real data analysis.
Higson proved that every homotopy invariant, stable and split exact functor from the category of C⁎-algebras to an additive category factors through Kasparov's KK-theory. By adapting a group equivariant generalization of this result by Thomsen, we generalize Higson's result to the inverse semigroup and locally compact, not necessarily Hausdorff groupoid equivariant setting.
This study proposes an inverse estimation method for the input forces of a fixed beam structural system. The estimator includes the fuzzy Kalman Filter (FKF) technology and the fuzzy weighted recursive least square method (FWRLSM). In the estimation method, the effective estimator are accelerated and weighted by the fuzzy accelerating and weighting factors proposed based on the fuzzy logic inference system. By directly synthesizing the robust filter technology with the estimator, this study presents an efficient robust forgetting zone, which is capable of providing a reasonable trade-off between the tracking capability and the flexibility against noises. The period input of the fixed beam structure system can be effectively estimated by using this method to promote the reliability of the dynamic performance analysis. The simulation results are compared by alternating between the constant and adaptive and fuzzy weighting factors. The results demonstrate that the application of the presented method to the fixed beam structure system is successful.

In this study, the 'force density method' for shape finding of cable net structures is presented. This concept is based on the force-length ratios or force densities which are defined for each branch of the net structures. This method renders a simple linear 'analytical form finding' possible. If the free choice of the force densities is restricted by further condition, the linear method is extended to a nonlinear one. The nonlinear one can be applied to the detailed computation of networks. In this paper, the general inverse matrix is introduced to solve the nonlinear equilibrium equation including Jacobian matrix which is rectangular matrix. Several examples for linear and nonlinear analysis applied additional constraints are presented. It is shown that the force density method is suitable for form finding of cable net and the general inverse matrix can be applied to solve the nonlinear equation without Lagrangian factors.
In this paper, an algorithm for computing the sparse approximate inverse factor of matrix $A^{T}\;A$, where A is an $m\;{\times}\;n$ matrix with $m\;{\geq}\;n$ and rank(A) = n, is proposed. The computation of the inverse factor are done without computing the matrix $A^{T}\;A$. The computed sparse approximate inverse factor is applied as a preconditioner for solving normal equations in conjunction with the CGNR algorithm. Some numerical experiments on test matrices are presented to show the efficiency of the method. A comparison with some available methods is also included.
An inverse problem to determine two-dimensional total heat exchange factor is studied for the prediction of the billet temperature in the reheating furnace. Temperature measurements by the experiment are used in the inverse analysis. This inverse analysis employs the conjugate gradient method. The total heat exchange factors for 12-zones of the cross-section of the billet are estimated. The estimated temperatures at measurement locations are in good agreements with the measured temperatures.
Through matched filtering synthetic aperture radar (SAR) produces high-resolution imagery from data collected by a relative small antenna. While the impulse response obtained by the matched filter approach produces the best achievable signal-to-noise ratio, large sidelobes must be reduced to obtain higher-resolution SAR images. So, many enhancement methods of SAR imagery have been proposed. As a deconvolution method, the phase-extension inverse filtering is based on the characteristics of the matched filtering used in SAR imaging. It improves spatial resolution as well as effectively suppresses the sidelobes with low computational complexity. In the phase-extension inverse filtering, the impulse response is obtained from simulation with a point target. But in a real SAR environment, for example ERS-1, the impulse response is distorted by many non-ideal factors. So, in the phase-extension inverse filtering for a real SAR processing, the magnitudes of the frequency transfer function have to be compensated to produce more desirable results. In this paper, an estimation method to obtain a more accurate impulse response from a real SAR image is studied. And a compensation scheme to produce better performance of the phase-extension inverse filtering is also introduced.
