  • P-value is the probability of observing a current sample and possibly other samples departing equally or more extremely from the null hypothesis toward postulated alternative hypothesis. When p-value is less than a certain level called ${\alpha}$(= 0:05), researchers claim that the alternative hypothesis is supported empirically. Unfortunately, some findings discovered in that way are not reproducible, partly because the p-value itself is a statistic vulnerable to random variation. Boos and Stefanski (2011) suggests calculating the upper limit of p-value in hypothesis testing, using a bootstrap predictive distribution. To determine the sample size of a replication study, this study proposes thought experiments by simulating boosted bootstrap samples of different sizes from given observations. The method is illustrated for the cases of two-group comparison and multiple linear regression. This study also addresses the reproducibility of the points in the given 95% confidence interval. Numerical examples show that the center point is covered by 95% confidence intervals generated from bootstrap resamples. However, end points are covered with a 50% chance. Hence this study draws the graph of the reproducibility rate for each parameter in the confidence interval.

  • In this paper, we propose a group scheduling scheme to efficiently utilize network resources for core nodes in optical burst switching networks. This scheme schedules multiple bursts utilizing an interval graph to obtain the maximum stable set using the information such as arrival times and burst lengths from the collected header packets. Simultaneous scheduling of multiple bursts in a scheduling window results in lower burst loss probability and increased channel utilization than those proposed previously using one-to-one mapping. Simulation results for both cases of variable and fixed burst sizes show that the group scheduling scheme is better than the immediate scheduling, so called Latest Available Unused Channel with Void Filling, scheme in both performance metrics above mentioned.

  • In this paper, we implemented a respiration measurement system consisting of piezoelectric sensor, respiration signal processing device, and a viewer on a notebook. We tried an experiment for measuring respiration and detecting sleep apnea syndrome when a subject lay on a bed. We applied the respiration measurement algorithm to sensor data obtained from four subjects. In order to get a good graph shape, data manipulation methods such as moving averages and maximum values were applied. The window size for moving average was chosen as N=70, and the threshold value for each subject was customized. In this case, the proposed system showed 96.0% accuracy. When the maximum value among 90 data was applied instead of moving average, our system achieved 95.1% accuracy. In an experiment for detecting sleep apnea syndrome, the system showed that sleep apnea occurred correctly and calculated the average interval of sleep apnea. While infants or the elderly as well as patients with sleep apnea syndrome are lying down on a bed, our results are also expected to be able to cope with some accidental emergency situation by observing their respiration and detecting sleep apnea.

  • Back-propagation(BP) algorithm needs a lot of time to train the artificial neural network (ANN) to get high accuracy level in classification tasks. So there have been extensive researches to process back-propagation algorithm on parallel processors. This paper prsents a linear systolic array which calculates forward-backward propagation of BP algorithm at the same time using effective space-time transformation and PE structure. First, we analyze data flow of forwared and backward propagations and then, represent the BP algorithm into data dapendency graph (DG) which shows parallelism inherent in the BP algorithm. Next, apply space-time transformation on the DG of ANN is turn with orthogonal direction projection. By doing so, we can get a snakelike systolic array. Also we calculate the interval of input for parallel processing, calculate the indices to make the right datas be used at the right PE when forward and bvackward propagations are processed in the same PE. And then verify the correctness of output when forward and backward propagations are executed at the same time. By doing so, the proposed system maximizes parallelism of BP algorithm, minimizes th enumber of PEs. And it reduces the execution time by 2 times through making idle PEs participate in forward-backward propagation at the same time.

  • The electrochemical reaction between lead borate glass frit doped with Sn metal filler and Ni-Cr wire of a J-type resistor during a term of Joule heating is investigated. The fusing behavior in which the Ni-Cr wire is melted is not observed for the control group but measured for the Sn-doped specimen under 30 V and 500 mA. The Sn-doped lead borate glass frit shows a fusing property compared with other metal-doped specimens. Meanwhile, the redox reaction significantly contributes to the fusing behavior due to the release of free electrons of the metal toward the glass. The electrons derived from the glass, which used Joule heat to reach the melting point of Ni-Cr wire, increase with increasing corrosion rate at interface of metal/glass. Finally, the confidence interval is 95 ± 1.959 %, and the adjusted regression coefficient, R in the optimal linear graph, is 0.93, reflecting 93% of the data and providing great potential for fusible resistor applications.

  • Elasticity is a statistical technique that interprets the changing pattern of another variable according to a change in one variable as a quantitative numerical value and provides more information than correlation analysis and is widely used in climate change research. In this study the elasticity was calculated and sensitivity analysis was performed using air temperature and water quality data of the major tributaries of the Nakdong River. In addition the confidence interval for the elasticity was calculated using the T-Test and the validity of the elasticity was examined. The strength of elasticity shows high strength in the order of summer>fall>spring>winter and the direction shows regional characteristics with both negative and positive elasticity. After performing hierarchical cluster analysis on monthly observation data they were classified into 5 clusters and the characteristics of each cluster were visually analyzed using a parallel coordinate graph. The direction and intensity of the air temperature elasticity show regional characteristics due to the relatively high population density and complex influencing factors such as sewage treatment plants, small-scale livestock houses and agricultural activities. In the case of TP it shows great regional variability according to the circulation of nutrients in the ecosystem caused by algae growth and death according to temperature changes. Since the air temperature elasticity of the major tributaries of the Nakdong River is over weak and is valid at the significance level of 5%, it was analyzed that there is a change in water quality according to the air temperature change.

  • In recent years the popularity of multi-hop wireless networks has been growing. Its flexible topology and abundant routing path enables many types of applications. However, the lack of a centralized controller often makes it difficult to design a reliable service in multi-hop wireless networks. While packet routing has been the center of attention for decades, recent research focuses on data discovery such as file sharing in multi-hop wireless networks. Although there are many peer-to-peer lookup (P2P-lookup) schemes for wired networks, they have inherent limitations for multi-hop wireless networks. First, a wired P2P-lookup builds a search structure on the overlay network and disregards the underlying topology. Second, the performance guarantee often relies on specific topology models such as random graphs, which do not apply to multi-hop wireless networks. Past studies on wireless P2P-lookup either combined existing solutions with known routing algorithms or proposed tree-based routing, which is prone to traffic congestion. In this paper, we present two wireless P2P-lookup schemes that strictly build a topology-dependent structure. We first propose the Ring Interval Graph Search (RIGS) that constructs a DHT only through direct connections between the nodes. We then propose the ValleyWalk, a loosely-structured scheme that requires simple local hints for query routing. Packet-level simulations showed that RIGS can find the target with near-shortest search length and ValleyWalk can find the target with near-shortest search length when there is at least 5% object replication. We also provide an analytic bound on the search length of ValleyWalk.

  • In this study, we implemented the pulse transit time (PTT) system to examine usefulness of the monitoring method of distensibility and elasticity using photoplethysmography sensor in vivo. PTT is defined as the time interval between the peak of QRS complex in ECG signal and the maximum slope point of photoplethysmography. these two signals were converted to digital data by means of AID converter, then PTT was evaluated by heartbeat using PC. Results of analysis were displayed as a graph using spline interpolation method. The variance of PTT was measured repetitiously to verify efficiency of PTT system in resting state and hyperemic state. Repeated measurement of PTT was not same value but showed that coefficients of correlation were related with each other as 0.8302 (P<0.01) in resting state. And also repeated measurement of PTT showed significant correlation as 0.868 (P<0.01) in the hyperemic state. These result showed that PTT is reflect on transient pressure variance in the artery and is very useful method for the evaluation of prognosis of the hypertension and arteriosclerosis.

  • In this paper, we applied a group scheduling algorithm to core nodes in an optical burst switching (OBS) network and measured its performance by simulation. For the case of core nodes with multi-channel input/output ports, performance of the group scheduling has been compared to that of the immediate scheduling. Since the group scheduling has a characteristic of scheduling a group of bursts simultaneously in a time window using information collected from corresponding burst header packets arrived earlier to a core node, simulation results show that the group scheduling outperforms the immediate scheduling in terms of both burst loss probability and channel utilization and the difference gets larger as the load increases. Another node configuration in which wavelength converters are equipped at the output ports has also been considered. In this case, even though both performance metrics of the group scheduling are almost the same as those of the immediate scheduling in the offered load range between 0.1 and 0.9, the group scheduling has lower wavelength conversion rate than the immediate scheduling by at least a factor of seven. This fact leads us to the conclusion that the group scheduling makes it possible to implement more economical OBS core nodes.

  • In this study. respiratory efforts were monitored by the change of pulse transit time (PTT) which is related with the arterial pressure PTT is the time interval between the peak of R wave in ECG and the maximal slope point of photoplethysmogram(PPG). Biosignals, ECG and finger photoplethysmogram(PPG), were converted to digital data, and PTT was evaluated in personal computer with every heart beat. Results were presented as a graph using spline interpolation. The software was implemented in C$\^$++/ as a window-based application program. PTT was periodically changed according to airflow in resting respiration. In the resting respiration, PTT was changed according to the respiratory cycle. The amplitude of PTT fluctuation was increased by deep respiration, and increased by partial airway obstruction. These results suggest that PTT is responsible to respiratory effort which could be evaluated by the pattern of PTT change. And it is expected that PTT could be applied in the monitoring of respiratory effort by noninvasive methods, and is very useful method for the evaluation of respiratory distress.
