  • Curve-net interpolation surface is one of the most popular method in engineering design. Therefore it is supported with many commercial CAD/CAM system. However, construction algorithm of curve-net interpolation surfaces is rarely opened to the public because of its copy-right. In this paper we establish a construction algorithm of curve-net interpolation surface so called sweeping surface which especially concentrates on trajectory of cross-section curve. We also show the method which can construct sweeping surfaces as NURB or Bezier mathematical models. Surfaces having the form of standard mathematical models are very useful for the application of joining, trimming, blending etc. The proposed surface interpolation scheme consists of four steps; (1) preparation of guide curves and section curves, (2) remeshing guide curves and section curves, (3) blending section curves after deformation, and (4) determination of control points for sweeping surface using gordon method. The proposed method guarantee $G^1$-continuety, and construct the surface salifying given section curves and trajectory of section curves.

  • In parametric surface interpolation, the choice of the parameter values to the set of scattered points makes a great deal of difference in the resulting surface. A new method is developed and tested for the parametrization in NURBS surface global interpolation. This method uses the parameter value at the maximal value of relevant rational basis function, to assign the parameter values to the arbitrary set of design data. This method gives us several important advantages in geometric modeling, the freedom of the selection of knot values, the feasible transformation of the data set to the matrix, the possibility of affinite transformation between the design data and generated surface, etc.

  • This work is concerned with the algorithm of generating a new circular are interpolation. This research presents a new biarc curve fitting that is a circular interpolation method based on a triarc curve fitting. The triarc method, where a segment span is composed of three circular arcs, using maximum error estimation has the advantage of generating arc splines easily to a given tolerance. The new biarc method is called when the adjacent radii are the same in the same in the triarc method. In generating the machining data for various cam curves in CNC machining with the biarc method and the new biarc method, the latter accomp- lished faster NC-code generation, shorter NC-code block formation and machined the same cam profile more efficiently.

  • The interpolation of missing AIS data can be used for recovering the lost data of a ship's state which is then able to produce useful information for VTS stations or other ships. Previous research has introduced some interpolating methods however there are some problems with regard to missing AIS data. This paper proposes one new method which includes linear interpolation, cubic Hermit interpolation and an identification mechanism to overcome some of those limitations, first AIS data regarding ship position, COG, SOG and HDG is divided into separate time series, then the characteristic of the missing data is investigated into through using an identification mechanism, an appropriate interpolation is selected to fit all the time series which matches the characteristics. Numerical experiments are carried out using real AIS data to validate the algorithm of this approach and the results are compared with the previous method, after which the actual missing area is suggested to be interpolated by the proposed method. The interpolation results show this approach can be applied well in practice.

  • This paper presents an shifted linear interpolation method with an image-dependent parameter. The previous shifted linear interpolation proposed the optimal shift parameter of 0.21, which is calculated by spectrum analysis of the shifted linear interpolation kernel. However, the parameter can be different if we takes an input image spectrum into account. Thus, we introduce an image-dependent parameter. An experiment shows the best shift parameter is 0.19 in average for real images. Also, simulation results indicate the proposed method is superior to the existing shifted linear interpolation as well as conventional methods such as linear interpolation and cubic convolution interpolation in terms of the subjective and objective image quality.

  • As the resolution of the image display devices has been diversified, the image interpolation methods has played a more important role. The cubic convolution interpolation method has been widely used because it is simple but it has no limitation of using and a good performance. This paper suggests an adaptive method to the cubic convolution interpolation. Considering the difference of the neighbored pixels values to a prediction pixel, a parameter value in the cubic convolution interpolation kernel is chosen.

  • The maximum feedrate generated from the hardware DDA is closely related to its calculation efficiency. The smaller interpolation span results in the lower calculation efficiency. This paper presents the method to improve the calculation efficiency for the smaller interpolation span. For the linear interpolation the higher calculation efficiency can be achieved by putting biggest value that the interpolation DDA can hold. for the circular interpolation, however, the scheme used for linear interpolation does not work since arbitrary change of value in the interpolation DDA changes the radius of the circle. The bit length of the hardware DDA is adjusted instead of adjusting the value in DDA, which results in the every same effect on calculation efficiency for the circular interpolation. The hardware circuit and supporting software are designed, and tested by two axis step motor driven milling machine. The experimental results show that the proposed method drastically increases the maximum feedrate even for the smaller interpolation span.

  • Kriging interpolation is one of the generally used interpolation techniques in Geostatistics field. This technique includes the experimental and theoretical variograms and the formulation of kriging interpolation. In contrast to the conventional least square method for stress recovery, kriging interpolation is based on the weighted least square method to obtain the estimated exact solution from the stress data at the Gauss points. The weight factor is determined by variogram modeling for interpolation of stress data apart from the conventional interpolation methods that use an equal weight factor. In addition to this, the p-level is increased non-uniformly or selectively through a posteriori error estimation based on SPR (superconvergent patch recovery) technique, proposed by Zienkiewicz and Zhu, by auto mesh p-refinement. The cut-out plate problem under tension has been tested to validate this approach. It also provides validity of kriging interpolation through comparing to existing least square method.

  • In level set method, material properties are made to change smoothly across an interface of two materials with different properties by introducing an interpolation or smoothing scheme. So far, the weighted arithmetic mean (WAM) method has been exclusively adopted in level set method, without complete assessment for its validity. We showed here that the weighted harmonic mean (WHM) method for rate constants of various rate processes, including viscosity, thermal conductivity, electrical conductivity, and permittivity, gives much more accurate results than the WAM method. The selection of interpolation scheme is particularly important in multi-phase electrohydrodynamic problems in which driving force for fluid flow is electrical force exerted on the phase interface. Our analysis also showed that WHM method for both electrical conductivity and permittivity gives not only more accurate, but also more physically realistic distribution of electrical force at the interface. Our arguments are confirmed by numerical simulations of drop deformation under DC electric field.

  • We propose a statistical interpolation approximate solution for a nonlinear stochastic integral equation of a stock price process. The proposed method has the order O(h$^2$) of local error under the weaker conditions of $\mu$ and $\sigma$ than those of Milstein' scheme.
