Shape design optimization for linear elasticity problem is performed using isogeometric analysis method. In many design optimization problems for real engineering models, initial raw data usually comes from CAD modeler. Then designer should convert this CAD data into finite element mesh data because conventional design optimization tools are generally based on finite element analysis. During this conversion there is some numerical error due to a geometry approximation, which causes accuracy problems in not only response analysis but also design sensitivity analysis. As a remedy of this phenomenon, the isogeometric analysis method is one of the promising approaches of shape design optimization. The main idea of isogeometric analysis is that the basis functions used in analysis is exactly same as ones which represent the geometry, and this geometrically exact model can be used shape sensitivity analysis and design optimization as well. In shape design sensitivity point of view, precise shape sensitivity is very essential for gradient-based optimization. In conventional finite element based optimization, higher order information such as normal vector and curvature term is inaccurate or even missing due to the use of linear interpolation functions. On the other hands, B-spline basis functions have sufficient continuity and their derivatives are smooth enough. Therefore normal vector and curvature terms can be exactly evaluated, which eventually yields precise optimal shapes. In this article, isogeometric analysis method is utilized for the shape design optimization. By virtue of B-spline basis function, an exact geometry can be handled without finite element meshes. Moreover, initial CAD data are used throughout the optimization process, including response analysis, shape sensitivity analysis, design parameterization and shape optimization, without subsequent communication with CAD description.
A finite element code based on P2P1 tetra element has been developed for the large eddy simulation (LES) of turbulent flows around a complex geometry. Fractional 4-step algorithm is employed to obtain time accurate solution since it is less expensive than the integrated formulation, in which the velocity and pressure fields are solved at the same time. Crank-Nicolson method is used for second order temporal discretization and Galerkin method is adopted for spatial discretization. For very high Reynolds number flows, which would require a formidable number of nodes to resolve the flow field, SUPG (Streamline Upwind Petrov-Galerkin) method is applied to the quadratic interpolation function for velocity variables, Noting that the calculation of intrinsic time scale is very complicated when using SUPG for quadratic tetra element of velocity variables, the present study uses a unique intrinsic time scale proposed by Codina et al. since it makes the present three-dimensional unstructured code much simpler in terms of implementing SUPG. In order to see the effect of numerical diffusion caused by using an upwind scheme (SUPG), those obtained from P2P1 Galerkin method and P2P1 Petrov-Galerkin approach are compared for the flow around a sphere at some Reynolds number. Smagorinsky model is adopted as subgrid scale models in the context of P2P1 finite element method. As a benchmark problem for code validation, turbulent flows around a sphere and a MIRA model have been studied at various Reynolds numbers.
This paper proposes new video signature using spatio-temporal information for copy detection. The proposed video copy detection method is based on concentric circle partitioning method for each key frame. Firstly, key frames are extracted from whole video using temporal bilinear interpolation periodically and each frame is partitioned as a shape of concentric circle. For the partitioned sub-regions, 4 feature distributions of average intensity, its difference, symmetric difference and circular difference distributions are obtained by using the relation between the sub-regions. Finally these feature distributions are converted into binary signature by using simple hash function and merged together. For the proposed video signature, the similarity distance is calculated by simple Hamming distance so that its matching speed is very fast. From experiment results, the proposed method shows high detection success ratio of average 97.4% for various modifications. Therefore it is expected that the proposed method can be utilized for video copy detection widely.

For the safety of aircraft and accuracy of bombs, many companies have researched the new concept of adaptive kit to flying-bombs. For the long distance flying, it's normally used deployed high-aspect ratio wing because of limited volume. The probabilities of large elastic deformation and flutter are increased due to decreased stiffness of high-aspect ratio wing. In this paper, computational fluid dynamics and computational structure dynamics interaction methodology are applied for prediction of aerodynamic characteristics. FLUENT and ABAQUS are used to calculate fluid and structural dynamics. Code-bridge was made base on the compactly supported radial basis function to execute interpolation and mapping. There are some differences between rigid body and fluid-structure interaction analysis which are results of aerodynamics characteristics due to structural deformation. Small successive vibration was observed by interaction.

A LMTT (Linear Motor-based Transfer Technology) is a horizontal transfer system for the yard automation This system is based on PMLSM (Permanent Magnetic Linear Synchronous Motor) that consists of stator modules on the rail and shuttle car. In this research, the kriging interpolation method using sequential sampling is utilized to find the optimum design of a mover in LMTT. The design variables are considered as the transverse, longitudinal and wheel beam's thicknesses. The objective function is set up as weight, while the constant functions are set up as the stresses generated by four loading conditions. The optimum results obtained by the suggested method are compared with those determined by the GENESIS.
A least-square regression analysis is applied for the estimation of velocity streamfunction field based on discretely sampled current meter data. The coefficients of a streamfuunction that is expanded in terms of trigonometric basis function are obtained by enforcing the horizontal non-divergence of two-dimensional flow field. This method avoids Interpolation and gives a root-mean-square (rms) residual of fit which Includes the divergent part and noisiness of oceanic data. The Implementation of the method Is done by employing a boundary-fitted, curvilinear orthogonal coordinate which facilitates the specification of boundary conditions. An application is successfully made to the Texas-Louisiana shelf using the 32 months current meter data (31 moorings) observed as a part of the Texas-Louisiana Shelf and Transport Processes Study (LATEX). The rms residual of the fitting is relatively small for the shelf, which indicates the field Is Ivell represented by the streamnfunction.

In this paper, design, development and evaluation of DIP(Database Interface Program) are presented. The main purpose of this study is to improve the simulation quality to get more realistic response of target system. The designed and developed major function is composed of flexible memory structure, efficient arithmetic database language and high speed interpolation/extrapolation algorithm. To evaluate the operation speed and accuracy of returned data, trim simulation is performed based on in-house software and, DIP is applied to existing real-time simulator such as engineering HQS(Handling Quality Simulator) to evaluate reliability and performance. The result of evlaution reveals that calculation speed and data accuracy are satisfied, and flight performance is satisfied in the real-time simulator environments.

The side collision reconstruction algorithm is developed using three dimensional car crash analysis. Medium size passenger car is modeled for finite element analysis. Total 24 side collision configurations, four different speed and six different angle, are set up for making side collision database. Deformation index and degree index are built up for each collision case. Deformation index is a kind of deformation estimate averaging displacement of side door of crashed car from finite element analysis result. Angle index is constructed measuring deformed angle of crashing car. There are two kinds of angle index, one is measured at driver's side and the other is measured at passenger's side. Also a collision analysis information in side of cars is used for giving a basis for scientific and practical reason in a reconstruction of the car accident. The analysis program, LS-DYNA3D is utilized for finite element analysis program for a collision analysis. Those database are used for side collision reconstruction. Side collision reconstruction algorithm is developed, and applied to find the collision conditions before the accident occurs. Three example collision cases are tried to check the effectiveness of the algorithm. Deformation index and angle index is extracted for the case from the analysis result. Deformation index is compared to the established database, and estimated collision speed and angle are introduced by interpolation function. Angle index is used to select a specific collision condition from the several available conditions. The collision condition found by reconstruction algorithm shows good match with original condition within 10% error for speed and angle. As a result, the calculation from the reconstruction of the situation is reproducing the situation well. The performance in this study can be used in many ways for practical field using deformation index and degree index. Other different collision situations may be set up for extending the scope of this study in the future.

This paper presents a material estimation method using dual-energy X-ray images generated as a result of cargo inspection system in MeV region. We use new discrimination curve using logarithmic function rather than four discrimination curves commonly used in existing estimation algorithms. We also propose an atomic number estimation using the probability distribution of the logarithmic curve rather than linear interpolation. When the probability distribution is used as a weight, we used two methods of using the weight for the two nearest reference materials and the weight for all the reference materials. Experimental results showed that the atomic number estimation of materials using the probability distribution as a weight is more accurate than the existing methods. In order to visualize the estimated atomic number, the HSI model was used for color the resulting image.

Clustering method which based on sentence type or document genre is a technique used to improve translation quality of SMT(statistical machine translation) by domain-specific translation. But there is no previous research using sentence type and document genre information simultaneously. In this paper, we suggest an integrated clustering method that classifying sentence type by syntactic structure similarity and document genre by word similarity information. We interpolated domain-specific models from clusters with general models to improve translation quality of SMT system. Kernel function and cosine measures are applied to calculate structural similarity and word similarity. With these similarities, we used machine learning algorithms similar to K-means to clustering. In Japanese-English patent translation corpus, we got 2.5% point relative improvements of translation quality at optimal case.
