The next decade promises drastic improvements and additions to global navigation satellite systems (GNSS). Plans for GPS modernization include a civilian code measurement on the L2 frequency and a new L5 signal at 1176.45 MHz. Current speculations indicate that a fully operational constellation with these improvements could be available by 2013. Simultaneously, the Galileo Joint Undertaking is in the development and validation stages of introducing a parallel GNSS called Galileo. Galileo will also transmit freely available satellite navigation signals on three frequencies and is scheduled to be fully operational as early as 2008. In other words, a dual system receiver (e.g., GPS+GALILEO) for general users can access six civil frequencies transmitted by at least fifty eights navigation satellites in space. The advent of GALILEO and the modernization of GPS raise a lot of attention to the study of the compatibility and interoperability of the two systems. A number of performance analyses have been conducted in a global scale with respect to availability, reliability, accuracy and integrity in different simulated scenarios (such as open sky and urban canyons) for the two systems individually and when integrated. Therefore, the scope of this article aims at providing the technical benefits analysis for Taiwan specifically in terms of the performance indices mentioned above in a local scale, especially in typical urban canyon scenarios. The conclusions gained by this study will be applied by the Land Survey Bureau of Taiwanese as the guideline for developing future GNSS tracking facilities and dual GNSS processing module for precise surveying applications in static and kinematic modes.

The Internet of Things (IoT) is the interconnection of uniquely identifiable embedded computing devices within the existing Internet infrastructure. IoT is expected to offer advanced connectivity of devices, systems, and services that goes beyond machine-to-machine communications and covers a variety of protocols, domains, and applications. Key system-level features that IoT needs to support can be summarized as device heterogeneity, scalability, ubiquitous data exchange through proximity wireless technologies, energy optimized solutions, localization and tracking capabilities, self-organization capabilities, semantic interoperability and data management, embedded security and privacy-preserving mechanisms. Time information is a critical piece of infrastructure for any distributed system. Time information and time synchronization are also fundamental building blocks in the IoT. The IoT requires new paradigms for combining time and data. This paper reviews conventional time keeping mechanisms in the Internet and presents issues to be considered for combining time and data in the IoT.
Standards are essential to facilitate the efficient use of GIS data. International Standards such as ISO TC211's 19100 series and various technical specifications from OpenGIS Consortium are some of the examples of efforts to maintain the interoperability among GIS applications. This paper aims to provide the effective policy directions that can increase the use of GIS standards by providing the comprehensive list of priorities in developing GIS standards. This paper reviews the current status of the use of GIS standards in the field and analyses the use pattern. Also this paper examines the need for revision of the existing standards and new standardization efforts based on the current status of International Standards. Based on the analysis of the use pattern of the current GIS standard, this paper suggests a policy directions which emphasizes the need for more efforts in standardization of geographic information services standards and more coordination among all standard-related stakeholders in government and industry.
According to the purpose of applications, the application program will utilize the most suitable data model and 3D modeling data would be generated based on the selected data model. In these reasons, there are various data sets to represent the same geographical features. The duplicated data sets bring serious problems in system interoperability and data compatibility issues, as well in finance issues of geo-spatial information industries. In order to overcome the problems, this study proposes a spatial data fusion method using topological relationships among spatial objects in the feature classes, called Topological Relation Model (TRM). The TRM is a spatial data fusion method implemented in application-level, which means that the geometric data generated by two different data models are used directly without any data exchange or conversion processes in an application system to provide indoor LBSs. The topological relationships are defined and described by the basic concepts of IndoorGML. After describing the concepts of TRM, experimental implementations of the proposed data fusion method in 3D GIS are presented. In the final section, the limitations of this study and further research are summarized.
본 논문에서는 ATM 통신프로토콜을 위한 자동시험시스템인 ACTS(ATM Conformance Test System)의 개발과 적용을 소개한다. Abstract This paper presents development and application of ACTS(ATM Conformance Test System), an automated test system for ATM protocols. ACTS is a test system that checks conformance of ATM terminal and network equipment implementing either ITU-T or ATM Forum user-network interface. This paper, after presenting the methodology and process used for developing ACTS, conducts case studies of its applications to real ATM equipment. By applying ACTS, we were able to detect numerous problems in protocol implementations of ATM equipment and analyse causes of the problems, thereby demonstrating the efficacy of ACTS as an efficient automated testing tool. Furthermore, by predicting the potential effects of the problems on interoperability, we show how ACTS can be used as a useful tool for ensuring interoperable ATM equipment.
Semantic Web is getting popular to next web environment. Additionally, ontology language research is also activating to represent semantic relation of resource in semantic web. Specially, Ontology language as RDF and DAML+OIL appear on start point of research. But Ontology Language limited to describing characters of resource and to making a clear definition of relation of resource. So W3C suggest OWL at the next standard language for describing resource. OWL supply the lack of representation for RDF and RDF Schema. In this paper, we make Ontology to implement Online Retrieval System using OWL and propose the structure of storing Ontology document at the RDB. The structure support characters of OWL that are equivalent relationship, heterogeneous relationship, inverse relationship, union relationship and one of relationship between classes or properties. In this paper, we classify the extended elements for OWL from RDF Schema. And we propose the method of storing OWL using RDB for interoperability with many applications based on RDB. Finally, implement the storage and retrieval system based on OWL to provide advanced search function.
According to increase of concerning in health and entry of aging society, sensor-based smart clothing has developed various type and applications. Sensor-based smart clothing should be designed with considering of the interaction between a human body-device-clothing, such as accuracy of signal, wearability, suitability and the configuration of the sensor and so on. In this respect, these characteristics distinguish sensor-based smart clothing process from clothing process and Sensor-based smart clothing process is expected to be needing requirements Specification for development purpose and interoperability assessment based on requirements engineering. In this study, to assess efficiency of process based on requirement engineering, the sensor-based smart clothing process was deducted in two types by analysis of empirical performance. Presented two process were empirically evaluated through qualitative and quantitative evaluation. As a result, design process II based on requiments engineering were confirmed more effective process than processI.

The focus of traditional evaluations of ontologies is largely performance-based. A comparison of a new ontology with well-established ones, testing of ontologies in different applications, as well as any judgment of an ontology's appropriateness and relatedness to source data heavily rely on what results that ontology seems to manifest. This study, on the other hand, is an attempt to evaluate the quality of a particular ontology as manifested by its structure, representation, and interoperability. To that end, major categories of quality evaluations were first identified through an extensive survey of literature. Evaluation questions were formulated from these categories using the Delphi method and were validated by ontology experts. The entire process produced a set of 53 evaluation questions, which was then employed to test the quality of a newly-developed smartphone ontology.

The concept of Self-Sovereign Identity (SSI) has emerged to overcome the limitations of traditional centralized personal identity management systems in our society. Therefore, in this study, 36 seminal researches out of 112 collected studies were investigated with a systematic literature review method to deliver a core common definition as well as the research trends on SSI in the socioeconomic, legal and technological fields. SSI studies in the legal field have mainly considered the conflicts with relevant laws such as General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and privacy protection laws. The study of SSI in the technology field have looked at the trends of the technical components to implement SSI and discussed the necessities of establishing standards to increase interoperability for SSI diffusion worldwide. This study ultimately derived the core definition of SSI from a various academic fields as "a trust-based personal identity management system that enables autonomous self-identification by a identity owner without a centralized system or 3rd party intervention". The results of this study contribute to the understanding of the essential SSI concept which were varied on different research fields and industries. The results also provide a foundation for discovering various SSI-based business models, applications as well as future research opportunities. Furthermore, this study suggested that SSI must be developed with interdisciplinary manner among the socioeconomic, legal, and technological fields to be practically applicable system to enable autonomous self-identification by a identity owner in our society.
