Advanced Life Support Systems (ALSS) are being studied to support human life during long-duration space missions. ALSS can be categorized into four subsystems: Crew, Biomass Production, Food Processing and Nutrition, Waste Processing and Resource Recovery. The System Studies and Modeling (SSM) team of New Jersey-NASA Specialized Center of Research and Training (NJ-NSCORT) has facilitated and conducted analyses of ALSS to address systems level issues. The underlying concept of the SSM work is to enable the effective utilization of information to aid in planning, analysis, design, management, and operation of ALSS and their components. Analytical tools and computer models for ALSS analyses have been developed and implemented for value-added information processing. The results of analyses have been delivered through the Internet for effective communication within the advanced life support (ALS) community. Several modeling paradigms have been explored by developing tools for use in systems analysis. They include object-oriented approach for top-level models, procedural approach for process-level models, and application of commercially available modeling tools such as MATLAB$\^$(R)//Simulink$\^$(R)/. Every paradigm has its particular applicability for the purpose of modeling work. An overview is presented of the systems studies and modeling work conducted by the NJ-NSCORT SSM team in its efforts to provide systems analysis capabilities to the ALS community. The experience gained and the analytical tools developed from this work can be extended to solving problems encountered in general agriculture.

As an Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) Working Group, 6LoWPAN is standardizing the IPv6 packet transfer technology in accordance with IEEE 802.15.4. It has completed two Request for Comments (RFC) documents, one of which, RFC 4944, addresses fragmentation, reassembly, and header compression technologies. In this paper, a communication mechanism is proposed to provide efficient communication between 6LoWPAN and external nodes. In this mechanism, the gateway between 6LoWPAN and external networks serves as the proxy gateway between nodes. The simulation was conducted using QualNet to compare the performance of the proposed mechanism and the existing RFC 4944 method. The comparative analysis of the proposed mechanism and the existing method showed that the proposed method performed better.

VoIP is a core technology used to transmit both voice and data in an integrated packet' form. Within this technology, SIP is the signaling protocol used for 'real time' call services; particularly those where H323 is used. Yet, when considering the needs of mobile users, it is essential we integrate VoIp within the mobile technology so the mobile host is able to receive the 'packet' transported and by, and connected to, any available internet-address. For all this to occur, we need to improve Network Delay by reducing transmission problems associated with mobile services. If we are to obtain an optimal service then we must reduce any network delays which may arise from joining Mobile IP and VoIp services. This paper, therefore, considers how, unlike previous research, these delays may be improved through the use of the signaling technology\ulcorner SIP. It also considers how this research may be introduced into current wired and wireless integrated services enabling them to use the IP 'packet'.

The study examines the impact of international integration on Vietnam's rural and urban income inequalities using the regression model. The data used for this study is based on the results of the Vietnam Household Living Standards survey from 2008 to 2016 of the General Statistics Office. These surveys conducted nationwide with a sample size of 46,995 households in 3,133 communes/wards which were representative at national, regional, urban, rural and provincial levels. The level of international economic integration used in the study is the proportion of import and export turnover of GDP, the proportion of FDI and GDP by province. Due to the heterogeneity and unobservableness of the single observant in the data set, we selected the models of random and fixed effects. The research results show that during the economic integration process, the Export/GDP factor is negatively related to income inequality. The remaining factors (GDP per capita, FDI/GDP, Educational level of households, Percentage of internet users, Aggregation of foreign cash inflow and GDP of the province) are all positively related to income inequality. The findings help assess the impact of international integration on rural-urban income inequality, but also provides a concrete basis to help policymakers address income inequality in the integration process.

This paper proposes a system design of IDS for detecting and defending against DDoS attacks on a network. The proposed system has three parts; the Alert, Attack Analyzer and Defense agent. When the server resource was reduced too much by incoming traffic, the Alert Agent sends message and traffic information to the Attack Analyzer. The message and traffic to the Attack analyzer include only the sender & receiver address and packet numbers for minimizing the overload of Attack Analyzer. Message Received Attack Analyzer investigates the Message. If the pattern of traffic is the same as the DDoS Style, the Analyzer sends a message to the Defense Agent to block that traffic. In this system, at the serious state of the server-down, the Attack analyzer uncovers the DDoS Attacker and send a message to the Defense Agent to block that traffic. This works for server reactivation as soon as possible.
Fine dust is one of the top ten causes of deaths globally. More than 95% of the world's population are endangered by it. However, as the fine dust problem is difficult to address immediately, people should be informed of its risk and prepared to deal with it. This study explores the methods used to define, efficiently provide, and manage the complementary relationships between various types of media providing risk information utilizing the competitive characteristics of media in niche theory. A survey consisting of 348 Korean university students was conducted over 12 days, to analyze three factors: consumer perception of fine dust, media usage, and media use gratification. The response value for media gratification was substituted in the equation to derive the niche breadth, niche overlap, and competitive superiority. It was found that 1) for providing fine dust forecast and fine dust response guidance information, a smartphone application was the most effective; 2) smartphone applications were limited in providing additional information such as the severity and origin of fine dust, and hence, it is necessary to establish the functionality of the Internet and TV to complement smartphone applications. Thus, a system considering the above should be developed.
Web 2.0, characterized as openness, sharing, and participation, has enabled Internet users to easily generate a variety of contents, and to share them through Web 2.0 services. Knowledge search service (KSS) is positioning itself as one of typical Web 2.0 services. Yet, few studies have sharpened our understanding of users' knowledge sharing behavior in the KSS environment. In order to address this knowledge void, this paper attempts to explore antecedents of their usage behavior in the KSS environment. Typically, they utilize stored knowledge and share their knowledge simultaneously. Considering this characteristic, our study regards service usage intention and knowledge sharing intention as final dependent variables. This study advances a research model based on Bhattacherjee's expectation-confirmation model, which is expanded by incorporating trust belief. Because of the openness of KSS, trust belief is believed to play a critical role in forming users' service usage intention and knowledge sharing intention. Furthermore, this study examines the difference of the antecedents' effects in terms of users' gender. We collected data from 275 respondents who have experience in using KSS. PLS (partial least squares) was employed for the analysis of the data. Analysis results confirm the important role of user satisfaction and trust belief in the formation of users' service usage intention and knowledge sharing intention. More importantly, trust belief has a more salient effect on knowledge service usage intention than user satisfaction. This study also shows the moderating role of users' gender. Finally, this paper provides managerial guidance on strategic planning aimed at improving users' service usage intention and knowledge sharing intention in the KSS environment.

Mobile IP(MIP) and SIP have been proposed to support mobility in the wireless internet working at different layers of the protocol stack. However MIP has some problems such as triangle routing, the need of each host's home address, the overhead of tunneling and the lack of wide deployment. Thus we proposed a scheme for supporting mobility based on SIP in this research. A novel SIP system to provide a hierarchical registration has been designed according to this scheme. Our SIP system has been established by implementing JAIN technologies which follow next generation network standards to support the mobility of wireless terminal. This system successfully satisfied ITU-T recommendation.
Capturing real-time daily information on food prices is invaluable to help policymakers and development organizations address food security problems and improve public welfare. This study analyses the possible use of large-scale online data, available due to growing Internet connectivity in developing countries, to provide updates on food security landscape. We conduct a case study of Indonesia to develop a time-series prediction model that nowcasts daily food prices for four types of food commodities that are essential in the region: beef, chicken, onion and chilli. By using Twitter price quotes, we demonstrate the capability of social data to function as an affordable and efficient proxy for traditional offline price statistics.
