국산 자동차 부품산업의 국제경쟁력 분석에 관한 연구 - 미국시장 수출 집중도 및 경쟁력을 중심으로 - (A Study on the International Competitiveness of Korean Auto Parts Industry - Focus on the Exporting Concentration and Competitiveness in U.S. Market -)

  • Korean auto mobile industry has been contributed to development on national economy for last 30 years. Especially, The fact is that latest increasement of Korean automobile selling is worthy of notice in U.S. market which is the biggest automobile market of the world. But development of automobile industry unattainable nothing of helping of auto parts industry. So, when we discuss about growth of automobile industry, we also have to consider role of auto parts industry at the same time. The purpose of this study was to analyze exporting competition of Korean auto parts in U.S. market by using Index of Export Bias and Market Comparative Advantage Index. For attaining the purpose of study, we classified the Korean auto parts which exported to U.S. market and the world by using the six units classification of the Harmonized System(HS). Also we measured Index of Export Bias and Market Comparative Advantage Index. Analyzing period was 1998-2004. The results of Index of Export Bias indicated that HS Code No. 8708.50, 8708.91 represented over 3 numerical value and 8708.92, 8708.60, 8708.39, 8708.29 represented over 2 numerical value. Additional results indicated that the Korean auto parts which gained exporting competition in the U.S. market were HS Code No. 8708.70, 8708.93, 8708.92. The products which will have exporting competition in the U.S. market would be HS Code No. 8708.99,

The International Development Strategy of Les Enphants Roots in China Market

  • Facing a mature domestic market and the challenges of the global consumer market, retailers in Taiwan are in pursuit of international development strategies for increasing its market opportunities as one of its key growth strategies. In the global market, the Chinese market becomes Taiwan retailers' main international development milestone due to its similarity of language, culture and historical background with China. Therefore, this research uses case study method based on Eclectic paradigm (Dunning 1981) to explore the various advantages of a Taiwanese children's clothing retailer Les Enphants, which include ownership advantage, internalization advantage, and location advantage. These advantages in turn demonstrate rationales behind Les Enphants' internationalization necessity (Why to Go), selecting China as an expansion target (Where to Go), and management and operation strategies implemented in China (How to Go). Our study highlights a successful entry and expansion model of the Taiwanese children clothing retailer, and may have solid contribution to the practical application of internationalization strategy theory.

  • 본 연구는 2국간 의료기기무역흐름(international trade flow)에 관한 무역결합도이론(Intensity Approach)을 통해 우리나라의 의료기기수출구조(export structure)와 중국과 일본의 수입구조(import structure)를 상호유기적으로 연계시킴으로써 한 중 일 의료기기 무역의 흐름을 보다 이론적이고 체계적으로 분석하였다. 또한, 우리의 대중국과 일본의 의료기기 수출증대(boost exports)에 기여할 수 있는 방안을 모색하는데 의의가 있다. 이에 본고에서는 한국과 의료기기(medical device) 시장에서 주요한 경쟁관계에 있는 중국과 일본의료기기 시장의 중요성을 인식하고 특별히 의료기기의 한 중 일 무역현황(situation of trade)을 살펴본다. 이어서 삼국의 의료기기에 있어서 상대적인 시장흐름(market stream)과 주요 의료기기 품목의 무역결합도(trade intensity)를 알아보고, 한 중 일 의료기기 시장의 지속적인 성장방안을 찾고자 한다.

Risk Volatility Measurement: Evidence from Indonesian Stock Market

  • The purpose of this paper is to investigate the volatility of both Islamic and conventional stock market in Indonesia with the aim of identifying the most appropriate model for risk management practice. The study considers GARCH as a genre of model to measure the volatility of stock market movement. The results support the view that each model shows specific volatility from both Islamic and conventional stock market in Indonesia. In Islamic stock market, volatility is affected by exchange rate and money supply (M1) but not interest rate as interest is prohibited in Islam. However, interest rate is found as a principal factor that affects volatility of conventional stock market. The outcomes of this paper are of particular significance to policy makers, as it provides guidelines to maintain economic health. Furthermore, the findings may assist practitioners to understand the consequences of macroeconomic factors such as exchange rate, money supply and interest rate, which are very crucial for the market stability of Indonesian stock market. The paper enhances the understanding of stock market volatility and proposes guidelines risk management practices.

COVID-19, Remittance Inflows, and the Stock Market: Empirical Evidence from Bangladesh

  • This study's motivation is to investigate the association between the stock market, remittance, and the pandemic of COVID-19 for the period from March 3, 2020, to December 14, 2020. For evaluating the impact of COVID-19 and remittances on stock market behaviour during the pandemic, the study applies Autoregressive Distributed lagged (ARDL) for magnitudes estimation and directional association through the Toda-Yamamoto causality test. Study findings from ARDL estimation revealed that COVID-19 measured by detecting new cases negatively influences the stock market both in the long-term and short-term. Remittance positively influences the stock market behaviour, particularly in the long-term. Furthermore, the directional causality test disclosed unidirectional causal effects between COVID-19 and the stock market behaviour, which establishes all proxy measures for the equation's stock market. The hypothesis results explain the causal relationship between remittance inflows and the stock market in Bangladesh. The study's application will help policymakers rethink the policies for channelizing remittances for productive investment areas. Furthermore, the study's findings will reinstate the widely perceived notions, which is the critical role of remittance in the economy even though the economy passes through a great pandemic.

독도의 비시장적 가치 평가 (Assessment of Non-market Value of Dokdo)

  • The Korean government has acknowledged the importance of Dokdo Island and has consequently taken various measures for the effective management of it. There has, however, been little quantitative information about the value of Dokdo Island and this study, therefore, attempts to assess the Islands non-market value. To this end, this study estimated the non-market value by MAUT/CVM. The non-market value estimated by MAUT/CVM includes historic value, military value, ecological value, and geological value. According to the results, the values calculated by the price in market is about 10.37 trillion won and the values estimated by MAUT/CVM is about 1.72 trillion won annually.

하얼빈 국제빙설제의 사례로 본 겨울축제의 방문동기 및 시장 세분화 연구 (A Study on the Motivation and Market Segmentation of the Winter Festival as a Case of Harbin International Ice and Snow Festival)

  • Purpose - The purpose of this study is to derive sub-group of Chinese residents to Harbin International Ice and Snow Festival through market segmentation and to identify their characteristics of each group. Design/methodology/approach - The survey was conducted with a total of 405 Chinese residents, and empirical analysis was conducted using SPSS program. Findings - As a result of the analysis, four factors were derived. Based on the factors, four sub-markets were derived by conducting cluster analysis for market segmentation. Market strategies for each sub-group were discussed based on significant differences between clusters according to demographic characteristics. Research implications or Originality - The results of this study contribute to find out potential target market of Chinese residents, and to provide data for better positing of Harbin International Ice and Snow Festival.

Evaluating Construction Market of ASEAN Nations

  • This research evaluated the construction market and project environment of nine nations within the ASEAN members. Quantitative data from global consulting firms and international organizations were identified and normalized for evaluation. The result of the analysis was that Indonesia was ranked highest for construction market growth while Singapore was ranked highest for stability of project environment. The research results can be utilized by construction companies that are planning on entering the construction market within the ASEAN members.

  • 유비쿼터스 기술(uT)의 적용에 대한 논의가 상대적으로 저조한 재래시장에 uT를 적용하여 쇼핑고객의 쇼핑편의와 온/오프라인 쇼핑경험을 촉진할 수 있는 u-Market을 구현한다면, 재래시장을 방문하는 쇼핑고객의 수를 증가시킬 수 있으며, 이는 매출증대로 이어져 재래시장 활성화에 일조할 것이다. 이를 위해 우선 현실적인 u-Market 서비스 시나리오를 개발하였고, u-Market 시나리오를 기반으로 실제 사용자들을 대상으로 u-Market 서비스 수용성에 영향을 미치는 요인에 대한 연구를 하였다. 본 연구에서 제안하는 u-Market 서비스 시나리오는 향후 시스템 구현단계에서 개발자들 간의 협업을 촉진하여 고품질의 시스템을 효과적으로 개발하는데 일조할 것이다. 뿐만 아니라 u-Market 서비스 수용성에 영향을 미치는 요인에 대한 연구결과는 차후 재래시장에 실제로 구축될 u-Market 서비스의 성공가능성을 제고하는데 도움을 줄 것으로 기대한다.

The Effect of Market Orientation on Speed-to-market in International Markets

  • Purpose - The major aim of this article is to advance understanding of the relationship between market orientation and speed-to-market. Specifically, this study examines the different impacts of component of market orientation on commitment to R&D and speed-to-market and explores whether market uncertainty plays a role of moderating in speed-to-market for market-oriented firms. Research design, data, and methodology - This study collected a survey data from Korean exporting firms. The Final sample size was 196. The measure of market orientation was conceptualized with second order constructs. All items were measured on five-point scale. To confirm hypotheses, this study conducted a hierarchical regression. Results - As sub-constructs of market orientation, customer orientation, competitor orientation and interfunctional coordination foster speed-to-market, and the relationship between only customer orientation and speed-to-market might be weakened when the extent of market uncertainty is high. Conclusions - This study confirmed the relationship between market orientation and speed-to-market, with three components of market orientation respectively, and whether market uncertainty plays a role of moderating which weaken the link between market orientation and speed-to-market. It could be useful to take a component approach to the market orientation construct, because the roles of different market orientation components might vary, contingent on uncertainty in the environment.
