FIT OF FIXTURE/ABUTMENT/SCREW INTERFACES OF INTERNAL CONNECTION IMPLANT SYSTEM

  • Statement of problem. Accurate fit between the implant components is important because the misfit of the implant components results in frequent screw loosening, irreversible screw fracture, plaque accumulation, poor soft tissue reaction, and destruction of osseointegration. Purpose. This study is to evaluate the machining accuracy and consistency of the implant fixture/ abutment/screw interfaces of the internal connection system by using a Stereoscopic Zoom microscope and FE-SEM(field emission scanning electron microscope) Materials and methods. The implant systems selected in this study were internal connection type implants from AVANA(Osstem^{\circledR}), Bioplant(Cowell-Medi^{\circledR}), Dio(DIO^{\circledR}), Neoplant(Neobiotech 􀋓), Implantium(Dentium􀋓)systems. Each group was acquired 2 fixtures at random. Two piece type abutment and one piece type abutment for use with each implant system were acquired. Screw were respectively used to hold a two piece type abutment to a implant fixture. The implant fixtures were perpendiculary mounted in acrylic resin block. Each two piece abutment was secured to the implant fixture by screw and one piece abutment also secured to the implant fixture. Abutment/fixture assembly were mounted in liquid unsaturated polyester. All samples were cross-sectioned with grinder-polisher unit. Finally all specimens were analysed the fit between implant fixture/abutment/screw interfaces Results and conclusions. 1. Implant fixture/abutment/screw connection interfaces of internal connection systems made in Korea were in good condition. 2. The results of the above study showed that materials and mechanical properties and quality of milling differed depending on their manufacturing companies.

  • It is important to manage internal and external interfaces in a system integration. As there are many of related multi-disciplinary engineers and high level complexity in big and complex project, it is difficult that carrying out interfaces management by consistent method. We study the method that represent efficiently system interfaces by matrix structure. And we suggest the way to identify system interfaces and trace interfaces between components using Interface Analysis Matrix and Interface Control Document.

  • This paper deals with free vibration of plates with steps and internal line supports by using a modified matched interface and boundary (MMIB) method. Different kinds of interfaces caused by steps, rigid and elastic line supports and their combinations are taken into account. Detailed MMIB procedures for dealing with these different interfaces are presented. Various examples are chosen to illustrate the accuracy and convergence of MMIB method. Numerical results show that the proposed MMIB is a highly accurate and convergent approach for solving the title issue. This study will extend the application range of MMIB method.

Interface shear between different oil-contaminated sand and construction materials

  • The aim of this paper was to investigating the effects of soil relative density, construction materials roughness, oil type (gasoil, crude oil, and used motor oil), and oil content on the internal and interface shear behavior of sand with different construction materials by means of a modified large direct shear test apparatus. Tests conducted on the soil-soil (S-S), soil-rough concrete (S-RC), soil-smooth concrete (S-SC), and soil-steel (S-ST) interfaces and results showed that the shear strength of S-S interface is always higher than the soil-material interfaces. Internal and interface friction angles of sand beds increased by increase in relative density and decreased by increasing oil content. The oil properties (especially viscosity) played a major role in interface friction behavior. Despite the friction angles of contaminated sands with viscous fluids drastically decreased, it compensated by the apparent cohesion and adhesion developed between the soil grains and construction materials.

  • In this study, we empirically investigated the internal consistency among priorities in manufacturing strategy, manufacturing activity program performances and managerial performance indices in domestic electronic manufacturing firms. The test results show that there exist several significant internal consistencies with managerial implication related in research model. Especially, priority in quality shows most significant consistency through manufacturing activity program performances and managerial performance indices.

  • For the purpose of drawing out the technological criteria for the development of the National Environmental Satellite Center Earth Station, some constructional conditions for the establishment of the National Environmental Satellite Center and several characteristics of National Environmental Satellite Center Earth Station to be developed in the near future were analyzed. In addition, the structure of Environmental Satellite Earth Station and its internal interfaces by analyzing the characteristics of National Environmental Satellite Center Earth Station were depicted. In this paper, some top level requirements of the Environmental Satellite Earth Station and several interface requirements between the Environmental Satellite Earth Station and the Satellite Control Center were systematically described.

  • Metallic sandwich plate has many good properties such as high specific stiffness, high specific strength, good impact absorptivity, effective thermal insulation and soundproofing. In our study, a new bonding method, 3-layer roll projection welding, is introduced to fabricate the metallic sandwich plate. The new method uses a pair of roll electrodes like the seam welding, and projection welding is made at two internal interfaces of the 3-layer weldment consisting of a structured inner sheet and a pair of skin sheets. During the welding process, skin sheet temperature are measured to produce metallic sandwich plate with uniform and good quality. But it is difficult to observe or measure the temperature at the welding points during welding process because the welding points exist at the internal interfaces. Therefore FEM numerical analysis using ABAQUS is conducted to estimate the generated heat at the welding points with different welding conditions.

Effect of roughness on interface shear behavior of sand with steel and concrete surface

  • The present study evaluates the interface shear strength between sand and different construction materials, namely steel and concrete, using direct shear test apparatus. The influence of surface roughness, mean size of sand particles, relative density of sand and size of the direct shear box on the interface shear behavior of sand with steel and concrete has been investigated. Test results show that the surface roughness of the construction materials significantly influences the interface shear strength. The peak and residual interface friction angles increase rapidly up to a particular value of surface roughness (critical surface roughness), beyond which the effect becomes negligible. At critical surface roughness, the peak and residual friction angles of the interfaces are 85-92% of the peak and residual internal friction angles of the sand. The particle size of sand (for morphologically identical sands) significantly influences the value of critical surface roughness. For the different roughness considered in the present study, both the peak and residual interaction coefficients lie in the range of 0.3-1. Moreover, the peak and residual interaction coefficients for all the interfaces considered are nearly identical, irrespective of the size of the direct shear box. The constitutive modeling of different interfaces followed the experimental investigation and it successfully predicted the pre-peak, peak and post peak interface shear response with reasonable accuracy. Moreover, the predicted stress-displacement relationship of different interfaces is in good agreement with the experimental results. The findings of the present study may also be applicable to other non-yielding interfaces having a similar range of roughness and sand properties.

  • Development of launch vehicle needs a large-scale and complicated System Engineering discipline interfacing to small-quantity production with special manufacturing processes. In general, the System Engineering discipline of launch vehicle has its relationship with Production, Operations, Product Assurance and Management disciplines and its internal partitions into the functions of System Engineering Integration & Control, Requirements Engineering, Analysis, Design and Configuration and Verification. As a function of Product Assurance, reliability of launch vehicle plays an significant role in risk management, system safety, flight safety and launch certification through design assurance. Moreover, major functions of systems engineering are integrated by means of reliability in the phases of design and verification. Therefore, derailed identification of system engineering interfaces of reliability, and execution of tasks for reliability assurance is required for successful development of launch vehicle. This paper identifies specific pattern and mechanism of the interfaces between reliability and system engineering.

Microstructure and Electrical Conductivity of Cu-16 at % Ag Microcomposite (Cu-16 at % Ag 미세복합재료의 미세구조와 전도도)

  • In this study, the effect of the microstructural evolution on the electrical of Cu-Ag microcomposite was investigated. The nature of interfaces between silver filaments and Cu matrix may have pronounced effects on the physical properties of Cu-Ag filamentary microcomposites, little is known about these interfaces. In heavily drawn Cu-Ag filamentary microcomposities, the microstructure is too fine and the interfacial area is too large to maintsin a stable internal dislocation structure because of closely spaced filaments. Rather, most dislocations are thought to be gradually absorbed at the interfaces as the draw ratio increases. The mechanical and electrical properties of Cu-Ag filamentary microcomposites wires were also examined and correlated with the microstructural change caused by thermomechanical treatments. The study on the electrical conductivity combined to resistivity in Cu-Ag filamentary microcomposites and the rapid increase of the electrical conductivity at high annealing temperatures is mainly caused by the dissolution and coarsening of silver filaments. The relatively low ratio of the resistivities is mainly caused by the dissolution and coarsening of silver filaments. The relatively low ratio of the resistivities at 295K($\rho$\ulcorner/$\rho$\ulcorner) in as-drawn Cu-Ag microcomposites can also be explained by the contribution of the interface scattering.
