Analysis of Bonding Characteristics of a T-shape Structure Fabricated by Superplastic Hydroforming and Diffusion Bonding using two Ti-3Al-2.5V tubes (Ti-3Al-2.5V 튜브의 초소성 하이드로포밍과 확산접합으로 제조된 T형 구조물의 접합 특성 분석)

  • A T-shape structure was manufactured by the superplastic forming and diffusion bonding process using two Ti-3Al-2.5V alloy tubes. A Ti-3Al-2.5V tube was prepared for the hydroforming in the superplastic condition until it reaches a surface area such as a roof welded in the hole of another Ti-3Al-2.5V tube. Afterward, the superplastic forming process and the diffusion bonding process were carried out simultaneously until the appropriate bonding along the interface area of two Ti-3Al-2.5V tubes was obtained. The bonding qualities were different at each location of the entire interface according to the applied process conditions such as strain, pressure, temperature, holding time, geometries, etc. The microstructures of bonding interface have been observed to understand the characteristics of the applied processes in this study.

The Biocompatibility of HA Film Deposition on Anodized Titanium Alloy

  • A thin film hydroxyapatite (HA) films was deposited on anodized titanium by RF sputtering method. The anodized titanium enhanced the biocompatibility of the Ti and the bioactivity was improved further by the HA deposited on the anodized Ti. $TiO_2$ layer with $0.2{\sim}0.5{\mu}$ diameter pore size was formed on the Ti surface by anodization. Anodized $TiO_2$ layer analysis HA film deposited, oxide pore size and number decreased compared with non-HA deposited surface. The corrosion resistance of HA deposited/anodized Ti was higher than that of the non-treatment Ti alloy in Hank's solution, indicating better protective effect. From the results of cell culture using MTT assays, the best cell proliferation showed in HA deposited surface after anodization of Ti surfaces compared with another surface treatment.

The effect of interfacial layer thickness on the interface dipole energy in $O_2$ plasma treated metal/organic interface

  • Interface dipole energies between interfacial layers with different thicknesses coated on indium tin oxides (ITOs) and 4,4'-bis[N-(1-naphtyl)-N-phenyl-amino]biphenyl are determined. After $O_2$ plasma treatment on thick-metal (>4 nm) coated ITO, the work function and interface dipole energy increased. In thin-metal (< 2 nm) coated ITO, no change in the interface dipole energy was found though the work function increased. Thus, the $O_2$ plasma treated thin (< 2 nm) interfacial layer reduced the hole injection barrier.

  • In this study, we studied surface and adhesion properties with plasma treatment for substitution of buffing and solvent-cleaning in footwear adhesion process. The distance between nozzle and rubber parts was decreased with decreasing the contact angle. And when a speed of plasma treatment increased, the contact angle increased. The result of surface roughness, Ra and Rz increased in 20% and 16% after the plasma treatment. The distance of between nozzle and rubber parts was decreased with decreasing the peel strength. And the speed of plasma treatment was increased with decreasing the peel strength.

  • Silk fibers were subjected to argon and ethylene plasma treatments in order to improve the interfacial adhesion with polylactic acid (PLA). After the plasma surface treatment, the surface morphology and surface adhesion of silk fibers to the PLA resin were largely changed. Various plasma treatment conditions were used in this work: 10, 25, 50, 100 and 150 W of electric power, 1, 3, 5, 7 and 10 minutes of treatment time, and 10 and 50 sccm of a gas flow rate. The interfacial shear strength of plasma-treated Silk/PLA biocomposites was measured by a single fiber micro-droplet debonding test method. The result provided an optimal plasma treatment condition to obtain the improved interfacial adhesion in the Silk/PLA biocomposites.

  • The progression of androgenetic alopecia is closely related to androgen-inducible transforming growth factor (TGF)-${\beta}1$ secretion by hair follicle dermal papilla cells (DPCs) in bald scalp. Physiological levels of androgen exposure were reported to increase reactive oxygen species (ROS) generation. In this study, rat vibrissae dermal papilla cells (DP-6) transfected with androgen receptor showed increased ROS production following androgen treatment. We confirmed that TGF-${\beta}1$ secretion is increased by androgen treatment in DP-6, whereas androgen-inducible TGF-${\beta}1$ was significantly suppressed by the ROSscavenger, N-acetyl cysteine. Therefore, we suggest that induction of TGF-${\beta}1$ by androgen is mediated by ROS in hair follicle DPCs.

  • Currently, the management system of wastewater treatment facility has magnified due to the stringent regulations for the protection of the environment. However, wastewater treatment system is insufficient in wastewater quality monitoring technology in specialized. Above all it aim one-to-one data transmission instead of one-to-n data transmission through sensor and network. And then, it lack compatibility toward communication system between different. Mainly it has observed detecting system of manual system. In this paper, we studied protocol technology about efficient data transmission between sensor and integration interface of water quality detecting interface for automated sensor network integration interface in water restoration facility. Therefore, we proved the possibility of efficient data transmission from communication system of different type through monitoring implementation of sensor network integration interface.

The effect of surface treatment on interface formation between pentacene and polymer dielectrics

  • Electronic and structural properties of the interfaces formed by pentacene deposited on a polymer-based dielectrics are investigated by electron spectroscopy, atomic force microscopy, and water contact angle measurement. There is strong influence of surface treatment of the polymer dielectrics on the energy level alignment and the surface topography upon the pentacene deposition.

  • The research for development of remote monitoring and control systems composed three stages of research categories. At the first stage, we decided the suitable instrumentation devices for interface between H/W systems and waste water treatment facility. And at the second stage, we developed the software package for remote monitoring and data transmission system including data receipt system via wired telephone line. At the final stage we developed local control system for auto-process control of waste water treatment facilities.   • The main fault in this interface is that power cable insulating materials are mainly composed of a double layered structure, XLPE/EPDM laminates in cable joint. In this paper, we instituted the interface of normal and degassed XLPE/EPDM and then investigated the breakdown and conduction characteristics as a function of heat treatment time. The results showed that conduction and breakdown strength was influenced by volatile crosslinking by-products which remained inside the insulating material during the production of XLPE and EPDM, especially during heat treatment process. And micro voids and surface roughness also influenced the conduction current and breakdown strength.
