BACKGROUND/OBJECTIVES: Alzheimer's disease is a neurodegenerative disease that induces symptoms such as a decrease in motor function and cognitive impairment. Increases in the aggregation and deposition of amyloid beta protein ($A{\beta}$) in the brain may be closely correlated with the development of Alzheimer's disease. In this study, the effects of an adzuki bean extract on the aggregation of $A{\beta}$ were examined; moreover, the anti-Alzheimer's activity of the adzuki extract was examined. MATERIALS/METHODS: First, we undertook thioflavin T (ThT) fluorescence analysis and transmission electron microscopy (TEM) to evaluate the effect of an adzuki bean extract on $A{\beta}_{42}$ aggregation. To evaluate the effects of the adzuki extract on the symptoms of Alzheimer's disease in vivo, $A{\beta}_{42}$-overexpressing Drosophila were used. In these flies, overexpression of $A{\beta}_{42}$ induced the formation of $A{\beta}_{42}$ aggregates in the brain, decreased motor function, and resulted in cognitive impairment. RESULTS: Based on the results obtained by ThT fluorescence assays and TEM, the adzuki bean extract inhibited the formation of $A{\beta}_{42}$ aggregates in a concentration-dependent manner. When $A{\beta}_{42}$-overexpressing flies were fed regular medium containing adzuki extract, the $A{\beta}_{42}$ level in the brain was significantly lower than that in the group fed regular medium only. Furthermore, suppression of the decrease in motor function, suppression of cognitive impairment, and improvement in lifespan were observed in $A{\beta}_{42}$-overexpressing flies fed regular medium with adzuki extract. CONCLUSIONS: The results reveal the delaying effects of an adzuki bean extract on the progression of Alzheimer's disease and provide useful information for identifying novel prevention treatments for Alzheimer's disease.

This paper suggests a method to refine a massive collective intelligence data, and visualize with multilevel sentiment network, in order to understand information in an intuitive and semantic way. For this study, we first calculated a frequency of sentiment words from each movie review. Second, we designed a Heatmap visualization to effectively discover the main emotions on each online movie review. Third, we formed a Sentiment-Movie Network combining the MDS Map and Social Network in order to fix the movie network topology, while creating a network graph to enable the clustering of similar nodes. Finally, we evaluated our progress to verify if it is actually helpful to improve user cognition for multilevel analysis experience compared to the existing network system, thus concluded that our method provides improved user experience in terms of cognition, being appropriate as an alternative method for semantic understanding.

문자메시지를 작성하는 작업 특성과 사용자의 특성간의 상호작용의 결과로, 휴대전화 사용자 집단간 통화량과 문자메시지 사용량은 다르게 나타난다. 본 연구에서는 문장 입력시간을 기준으로 청년층과 중장년층 집단 간의 운지 속도를 비교하여 노화로 인한 운지 속도의 차이를 고려한 지적활동의 시간 차이를 알아보고자 하였다. 그리고 한글 문자 입력 과제의 수행을 반복하여 청년층과 중장년층의 입력 속도 변화를 비교하였다. 즉, 사용자가 충분한 연습을 거치면 연령층에 관계없이 문장 입력 시간이 비슷해질 수 있는지를 실험을 통해 확인하였다. 휴대전화의 문자 입력 시스템에 익숙하지 않은 청년층과 중장년층 각각 8명을 선발하였으며, 50ms단위로 입력시간을 측정하였다. 실험결과, 두 집단의 연습 이후의 성취한 문장입력 수행도는 유의한 차이가 있는 것으로 나타났다 (P=0.039). 이러한 결과는 노화로 인한 인지적 기능의 저하가 문자 입력의 속도를 저해하는 주요 요인임을 보여준다.

Background and Purpose: The Han(cold)-Yol(heat) patternization is one of the most usually used diagnostic methods in oriental medicine. This is studies for compensating questionnaries for Han-Yol that were made by Sook-Kyeng Kim. Methods: Questionnaries for Yol should be useful for clinical examination. So symptoms being chosen for questionnaries are based on Donguibogam that is clifnical textbook and 46 items are developed. By delphi panel and statistical analysis Items of questionnaries are choosen. Resultset: By delphi panel and statistical analysis 8 Items of questionnaries are choosen. Conclusion: Further research is necessary for improvement reliabilities and validities of the questionnaires for Yol pattemization.

Objectives: Seven Emotions consist of Joy(喜), Anger(怒), Anxiety(憂), Thought(思), Sorrow(悲), Fear(恐), Fright(驚). If Seven Emotions are excessive, their extreme mental stimulations cause physical illness. The aim of the research is to make a proposal on the concept of Seven Emotions by a statistical comparison between guibi-tang questionnaire and health related questionnaires. Methods: We studied the similarities among three factors of guibi-tang questionnaire and three health related questionnaires(subjective symptoms of fatigue test, beck depression inventory, state-trait anxiety inventory, etc.) using multidimensional scaling. Results and Conclusions: 1. Physical-Emotion Dimension and Chronic-Acute Dimension were labelled in two-dimensional solution. 2. Seven Emotions and Fatigue have a high correlation. 3. Seven Emotions and Trait-Anxiety have a high correlation.

We compared the gene expression among four clinical and five environmental V. vulnificus isolates, using a cDNA microarray containing 131 genes possibly associated with pathogenicity, transport, signal transduction, and gene regulations in the pathogen. cDNAs from total RNAs of these isolates were hybridized into the cDNA microarray using the cDNA of the wild-type strain MO6-24/O as a reference. We focused on selecting differentially expressed (DE) genes between clinical and environmental isolates using a modified t-statistic. We could detect two statistically significant DE genes between virulent isolates and less-virulent isolates with a marginal statistical significance (p-value of 0.008). These were genes putatively encoding pilin and adenlyate cylase. Real time-PCR confirmed that these two selected genes transcribed in significantly higher levels in virulent isolates than in less-virulent isolates. Mutants with lesions in the gene encoding pilin showed significantly higher $LD_{50}$ values than that of wild type.

오늘날 인터넷 환경에서의 망은 유무선의 환경이 통합된 하나의 망으로 달수 있다. 일반적인 TCP에서는 무선망에서의 핸드오프나 비트오류 등으로 인한 패킷 손실이 발생하는 경우에도 흔잡제어 알고리즘으로 손실된 패킷을 복구하게 되며 이러한 복구는 혼잡윈도우를 줄이게 됨으로 인해 현저히 TCP의 처리량을 감소시키게 된다. 본 논문에서는 유무선이 통합된 망에서 데이터 전송 효율을 높일 수 있는 알고리즘을 제시하고자 한다. 이 알고리즘에서는 홈서버를 사용하여 무선망에서 발생한 패킷 손실이 종단간의 재전송이 아닌 홈서버에서 지역 재전송을 함으로써 유무선망의 부하를 줄이고 흔잡제어 알고리즘이 실행되는 것을 방지하여 TCP의 성능향상을 가져올 수 있으며 캐쉬메모리에 재전송 패킷을 보관하여 재전송함으로써 보다 빠른 재전송효과를 얻을 수 있다.

매일의 임상에서 흔히 접하게 되면서도 항상 갈등을 야기하는 증례들이 있다. 그러나 많은 경우에 있어서 그 어려움 들은 우리가 치과 학문의 여러 분야들을 종합적으로 활용하지 못하고 단편적으로 접근을 하기 때문에 반복적으로 경험하는 것일 수도 있다. 현대의 치의학은 어느 특정한 한 분야를 선도적으로 주도해나가는 치과의사뿐 아니라, Super GP 로서 치의학의 모든 분야를 종합적으로 활용해 나갈 줄 이는 치과의사를 요구한다. Super GP를 추구하는 많은 치과의사들이 치주, 보존, 보철 등의 여러 전문적인 분야의 Interdisciplinary Approach를 통해 훌륭한 결과를 얻어내고 있지만 교정은 그중에서도 심미치료를 지향하는 치과의사들에게는 결코 빼놓을 수 없는 분야 중 하나일 것이다. 다음의 증례들은 치주, 보존, 보철 등의 분야와 함께 교정의 도움이 없이는 결코 얻을 수 없는 심미적인 결과였기에 함께 나누고자 한다.

Background: Yukmijiwhang-tang is one of the most common herbal formulas in Oriental Medicine. Yukmijiwhang-tang has been widely used as a herbal medicine to replenish Yin and tonify the kidneys for hundred years in Asian countries. Because of insufficiency in data, objective judgements about remedial effects have been difficult. In order to make objectivity diagnostic data, this research is developed. Purpose: The aim of the research is to make a pilot questionnaire for clinical use of Yukmijiwhang-tang. Methods: The questionnaire which includes symptoms and signs for Yukmijiwhang-tang is studied by the Delphi method. Results: By the Delphi method and score evaluation, 30 items of the initial copy of questionnaire are chosen for the research. Conclusions: By the Delphic survey among clinicians, a reference questionnaire for Yukmijiwhang-tang applications was suggested. Further research is necessary for modification of questionnaire by statistics and certification by clinical trial. research.

The second telemetry is designed for supplying additional function which the first telemetry system doesn't have and as a part system of the External Management System (EMS). It makes a patient and an animal move more freely with wireless communication at a distance of free activity from the PC and can get most data from the first telemetry to send to the PC. Recently, our laboratory is developing a RF system for the second telemetry.
