The Effect on Conflict Resolution Type and Relationship Performance by Conflict Formation Factors between Convenience Store Franchise Headquarters and Franchise Stores (편의점 가맹본부와 가맹점주의 갈등형성요인이 갈등해결성향과 관계성과에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the factors of conflict formation, conflict resolution type, and relationship performance between convenience store franchise headquarters and franchise stores operated by the franchise system located in the metropolitan area. The conclusion could be summarized as follows. First, according to factor analysis based on the previous research, the factor of conflict between convenience store headquarters and franchisee was tied to three factors such as goal disagreement, doctrinal discrepancy, and interdependence, whereas conflict resolution type was linked to three factors such as cooperation type, attack type, and avoidance type. Finally, the relationship performance is tied to three factors: financial performance, long-term cooperation, and non-financial performance. Second, as a result of Hypothesis 1, the interdependence was positively correlated when the cooperative type was the dependent variable. The target discrepancy was significantly positive(+) when the aggressive type was the dependent variable. The interdependence was significantly negative(-) when the avoidance type was the dependent variable. There also was a significantly positive(+) relationship in the target disagreement. Third, for Hypothesis 2, it is shown that target inconsistency is negative(-) for all cases where financial performance, long-term cooperation, and non-financial performance are dependent variables. Fourth, for Hypothesis 3, when the financial performance is the dependent variable, only the cooperative type shows a positive(+) relationship. On the other hand, when the long-term cooperation and the non-financial aptitude are the dependent variables, the cooperative type has a significant positive(+) relationship.

  • The purpose of this study is to explore the nature of supply chain partnership, and to find the factors influencing the supply chain partnership success. For this, relationship commitment and trust were used as the basic components of the supply chain partnership. Also we identified strategic fit, interdependence, compatibility, and communication as determinants of supply chain partnership. Based on the statistical analysis of the sample of Korean corporations, it was found that relationship commitment and trust were shown to be significant factors influencing the supply chain partnership success. In addition, the findings reveal that strategic fit, interdependence, compatibility, and communication will facilitate supply chain partnership. More specifically, strategic fit and interdependence have a significant positive influence on relationship commitment. Also, compatibility and communication have a significant positive influence on trust. There result, in short, supported the importance of supply chain partnership for the successful SCM.

Mediating Effects of Adult-Child Relationship and the Association between Marital Adjustment and Mental Health of Elderly Couples : An Application of the Actor-Partner Interdependence Model (노년기 부부의 결혼적응과 정신건강간의 관계에서 성인자녀관계의 매개효과 : 자기상대방효과 상호의존모형 적용(APIM))

  • The primary focus of the study assesses how individual spouses' and their partners' marital adjustment influence their own and their mental health. The study also examines whether this influence was mediated by the relationship with their adult-children. Data were collected from 271 dyads of elderly couples by using a self-report questionnaire. Marital adjustment was measured in terms of intimacy and comparison level of marriage. Mental health was measured in terms of depressive mood, anxiety, and somatization. The Actor-Partner Interdependence Model (APIM) analysis revealed that marital adjustment was positively associated with one's own mental health and with one's own relationship with their adult-children, but not with their partner's. On the other hand, the relationship with adult-children was positively associated with one's own and with their partner's mental health. Furthermore, analysis of the mediating model using APIM indicated that marital adjustment through one's own adult-children relationship had direct and indirect effects on one's own mental health. It is interesting to note that the wives' mental health were directly influenced by their partners' relationship with adult-children. However, the effect of the husbands' mental health was not significant. These findings highlight dyadic interdependence among spouses' perceptions of marital and adult-children relationship with their mental health. The results suggest implications for educators and clinicians working with elderly couples to improve their psychological and relational health.

Mediating Effect of Intimate Partner Violence on the Relationship between Alcohol Use and Relational Satisfaction: Actor-Partner Interdependence Model Analysis (부부의 음주와 부부관계 만족도의 관계에서 부부 폭력의 매개 효과: 자기-상대방 상호의존 모형(APIM) 분석)

  • This study examined the mediating effect of intimate partner violence (IPV) between alcohol use and relational satisfaction by the Actor Partner Interdependence Model (APIM). For this study, data were drawn from the 13th-wave Korea Welfare Panel data and a total of 2,263 married couples were included in the analysis. SPSS 25.0 and AMOS 24 were used to analyze data and the Actor Partner Interdependence Mediation Model (APIMeM) examined the mediating effect. The results of this study are summarized as follows. First, the actor effect and the partner effect on the relationship of alcohol use and partner violence were all verified to be positive effects. Second, the actor effect and the partner effect on the relationship of partner violence and relational satisfaction were all verified to be negative effects. Third, comparison of the actor effect and partner effect between the husband and wife showed that the partner effect in which alcohol use to partner violence was greater in the husband than in the wife. In addition, both the actor and partner effect of violent reducing their relational satisfaction were greater in wives than in husbands. The findings of this study suggest that IPV has a mediating role between couples' alcohol use and the relational satisfaction and husband's violent behavior has more negative effect on the quality of the relationship than the wife's violent behavior.

Antecedents and consequences of trust and commitment in apparel manufacturer-contractor relationships: The moderating role of length of relationship (국내 패션기업과 협력업체와의 관계에서 신뢰와 몰입에 영향을 미치는 변인: 관계 기간의 조절 효과)

  • This study examined regarding the moderating effect of length of relationship in the relationship among the antecedent variables (i.e., specific investment, opportunistic behavior, communication, uncertainty, interdependence, power imbalance, shared value, and flexibility) of trust and commitment, trust and commitment and firm performance and relationship satisfaction. A total of 128 apparel manufacturers participated in this study. Flexibility exerted the most positive effect on trust in short-term relationship, followed by specific investment. And opportunistic behavior was found to exert negative effect on trust. Commitment was found to be most negatively affected by power imbalance, followed by interdependence. Trust was shown to be significantly affected by communication, shared value and flexibility in short-term relationship. In the case of long-term relationship, commitment was shown to be significantly affected by uncertainty, interdependence, power imbalance and flexibility. Firm performance was positively affected by both trust and commitment. As for the effect of trust and commitment on relationship satisfaction, relationship satisfaction was also affected by both trust and commitment. In case the length of relationship, firm performance was affected by both trust and commitment. As for the effect of trust and commitment on relationship satisfaction, relationship satisfaction was also affected by both trust and commitment. The result of this research provides valuable data for making a concrete suggestion regarding the strategy for improving trust and commitment for the sake of the desirable relationship between apparel manufacturers and contractors.

  • As knowledge management is recognized as an important competency of organizations, organizations are continuously investing in knowledge management policies and technologies. Knowledge management preemptively requires employees to share knowledge, but sharing activities for continuous knowledge management have not been performed. The purpose of this study is to verify the effect of the organization's mutual exchange efforts through collaborative communication on the knowledge sharing intention of its employees. The study surveyed workers of organizations that operate knowledge management policies and verified the research hypothesis by applying 326 samples to structural equation modeling. As a result of the analysis, factors of collaborative communication(rationality, reciprocal feedback, formality) had a positive effect on the intention to share knowledge, and task interdependence and territoriality had a moderating effect on the relationship between collaborative communication and intention to share knowledge. The study has implications in terms of suggesting an activity strategy that an organization should pursue to improve knowledge sharing among its employees.

The Influences from Comparison Level and Comparison Level for Alternatives on the Dating Relationship Stability, and Mediating Effects from the Commitment among the College Students: An Application of the Interdependence Theory (대학생의 데이트 관계 안정성에 미치는 비교수준과 대안에 대한 비교수준의 영향 및 헌신의 매개효과 검증: 상호의존이론의 적용)

  • This study investigates factors that impact dating relationship stability(DRS) among college students by applying two key concepts from the Interdependence Theory suggested by Kelly & Thibaut (1978; Thibaut & Kelly, 1959), the comparison level(CL) and comparison level for alternatives($CL_{alt}$). This study also examined mediating effects of commitment on the relationship between CL and DRS and $CL_{alt}$ and DRS. The research used a survey data set drawn from 327 college students currently involved in a dating relationship. The collected data set was then analyzed using SPSS software ver. 23.0 and AMOS software ver. 25.0, to produce the descriptive statistics, Pearson's correlations, and path analysis with bootstrapping. First, both CL and $CL_{alt}$ had a significant direct impact on DRS. In terms of effect size, CL's effect size was comparatively larger than $CL{_{alt}}'s$. The mediating effects from the commitment were evidenced. In the model, the commitment partially mediated the relationships between CL and DRS, and $CL_{alt}$ and DRS. The findings suggest that commitment still plays a key role in dating relationships among college students who currently have a romantic partner. The findings of this study show the possibilities in applying the concepts and theory of interdependence to explain current dating relationships among young adults.

Influence of Distributive Injustice and Relation Conflict on Knowledge Hoarding: Role of Sensitivity to Incentive and Task Interdependence (분배 불공정성과 관계 갈등이 지식축적에 미치는 영향: 인센티브 민감성 및 업무 의존도의 역할)

  • In light of the COVID-19 incident, organizations have recognized the importance of systematically managing knowledge resources to enhance work efficiency and performance within the organization. We have adopted the perspective of knowledge hoarding, which entails the ownership of individual knowledge, and aim to elucidate the underlying mechanisms that contribute to knowledge hoarding by considering the organizational environment, personal characteristics, and task characteristics. To test our hypothesis, we conducted a survey among employees working in companies that have implemented knowledge management policies or systems. We obtained a total of 381 samples, which were analyzed using AMOS 22.0 and Process 3.1 macros. Our findings reveal that distributive injustice leads to conflicts relationships and subsequently increases individual knowledge hoarding. Furthermore, we found that sensitivity to incentive interacts with distributive injustice, further exacerbating knowledge hoarding. Conversely, task interdependence mitigates knowledge hoarding by interacting with distributive injustice and relation conflict. These results contribute to the development of effective organizational knowledge management strategies aimed at curbing knowledge hoarding within the organization.

Interdependence of Corporate Control Mechanisms and Firm Performance in Korea (기업지배구조의 상호관계 및 기업성과에 관한 연구)

  • This paper examines a simultaneous determination of corporate control mechanisms, and its effects on firm performance. The corporate control mechanisms considered include the following; insider shareholding, institutional shareholding, the board of directors, dividend policy, and capital structure. This paper applies a simultaneous equation methodology and investigates the interdependence among the corporate control mechanisms. In the first part, the paper finds that firm-level variations of control mechanisms are large across time although average variations are relatively small. These variations are related to one another, which is confirmed by Granger causality test based on dynamic panel autoregression model. More specifically insider shareholding, institutional shareholding and outside director ratio cause each other. With regard to interdependence among the control mechanisms, 2SLS(two stage least squares) regression results show that insider shareholding and institutional shareholding are substitutes while institutional shareholding acts as complements to the ratio of outside members in the board of directors. Then in the second part, the paper examines the relationship between firm performance and corporate governance. Firm performance, measured by Tobin's Q, has a positive association with leverage ratio while that has a negative relation to outside director ratio. This suggests that there may be a room for reforming corporate governance in Korea. Specifically it is necessary to enhance the independence of the outside directors.

Interdependence of the Asia-Pacific Emerging Equity Markets (아시아-태평양지역 국가들의 상호의존성)

  • We examine the interdependence of the major Asia-Pacific stock markets including S&P 500, FTSE 100, Kualar Lumpur Composite, Straits Times, Hang Seng, NIKKEI 225 and KOSPI 200 from October 4, 1995 to March 31,2000. The analysis employs the vector-auto-regression, Granger causality, impulse response function and variance decomposition using daily returns on the national stock market indices. The findings in this paper indicate that the volatilities of all countries has grown after IMF crisis, while there is no significance in cointegration test of both total period and sub-periods. This result implies that investors are able to get abnormal returns by investment diversification according to the portfolio theory. We find that while the effect from NIKKEI 225 to others is relatively weak, the interdependence from S&P 500 to other countries is strong. Also we find that the strong effect from Straits Times to Hang Seng exists. This study suggests that there is slight feedback relation between KOSPI 200 and Kualar Lumpur Composite, Straits Times, Hang Seng stock market.
