An experimental investigation of interceptors for a high speed hull

  • Nowadays interceptors have been widely used in a vast range of high-speed crafts. In this study, the results of interceptor adeptness experiments made in Istanbul Technical University's Towing Tank are unveiled. The model was tested through three transverse locations of interceptors with six different deployment depths. For three locations, the interceptor was positioned transverse on the aft; close to chine, in the middle and close to the keel. The fourth interceptor was a full length of 13.00% LWL. The results show a significant drag reduction in benefits of 1.50%-11.30% for Fn 0.58-1.19 and the trim reduction was observed in between 1.60 and $4.70^{\circ}$. Besides, one of the most significant conclusions indicates that the effect of the interceptor decreases from keel to chine for the same blade deployment heights so the blades should be controlled separately at least in three parts from keel to chine area, if operable.

  • 우리 해군이 DDH-II와 DDG에 탑재하여 운용 중인 스탠더드 미사일(Standard Missile)은 미 해군의 대표적인 요격미사일이다. 미 해군은 제2차 세계대전 이후 급속히 증가하는 대공위협에 효과적으로 대응하기 위해 대공미사일의 개발에 박차를 가하여 일명 3T 시리즈(Tartar, Talos, Terrier) 미사일을 개발하였고, 이후 Standard Missile(SM) 시리즈가 개발되어 그 자리를 대체하면서 함대공 요격미사일의 주력으로 자리잡고 있다. 본 논문에서는 SM-1에서부터 SM-6로 이어지는 스탠더드 미사일 시리즈의 종류와 기술적 특성을 조사하여 기술하였다.

Skin safety of the UV Absorbers by Measurement Cytotoxicity High Functional Product with Water-in-Silicone System

  • Consumers have recently preferred to purchase extensive UV intercepting products, which are waterproof and free from side effects on skin. Testing Cytoroxicity in SR method, cell survivial ratio of UV-B interceptors decreased above 0.08W/V%, and so did that of UV-A interceptors above 0.06W/V%. Also, Patch-test of inorganic UV interceptors resulted in no skin irritation even below 10.0 and 11.25. UV interceptors in the sunlight showed yellowish discoloration in 5 to 14 days. In absorption curves, UV-B was most suitable for Octyl methoxycinnamate and UV-A for Butyl methoxy dibenzoylmethane. Fro this reason, Nylonpoly UVA/UVB the material of OMC and BMDM coated with Nylon & polyethylene, was used as the organic UV interceptor. And zinc oxide and titanium dioxide was used as inorganic UV ibterceptors. The appropriate mixture ratio of ZnO and TiO2 was 6 to 4.6% of ZnO, 4% of TiO2 and 5% of Nylonpoly UVA/UVB were all combined with our sunscreen cream. The SPF value of in-vivo applied to a guinea pig was 34.9 and that of in-vivo was 38.5. Cyclomerhicone and dimerthicone were used in water-in-Silicone system. Ceryl diverhicone and sorbitan sesquioleate were used as emulsifiers and MgSO4, 7H2O, Mg-stearate/Mg-Al-stearate copolymer as emulsification stabilizers. In practical application, each SPF duration of O/W type and W/S type containing sunscreen cream of the same content showed that W/S type of sunscreen cream was 5 times as durable as the other. This product is fit for using in swimming, climbing or skiing. This research is to minimize skin trouble used by UV interceptors and to make one with proper softness, skin safety and UV intercepting efficiency.

화장품에서 UV 차단제의 피부 자극성과 SPF 측정 (SPF Measurement and Cytotoxicity of Sunscreen Agents in Cosmetic)

  • 최근의 소비자들은 waterproof 기능을 가진 광범위한 UV 차단 제품을 선호하며, 피부 안전성에도 많은 관심을 가지고 있다. NR method로 세포 자극성(in-vitro)을 실험한 결과, UV-B의 자외선 차단제들은 0.08 w/v% 이상에서 세포의 생존율이 떨어졌고, UV-A의 자외선 차단제들은 0.06 w/v% 이상에서 세포의 생존율이 떨어졌다. 무기 자외선 차단제들의 patch-test는 각각 10.5와 11.25 이하로 피부에 자극성은 없었다. UV 흡수 곡선, UV-B는 octyl methoxycinnamate(OMC), UV-A는 butyl methoxy dibenzoylmethane(BMDM) 가장 적합하였다. 따라서, 유기 자외선 차단제는 OMC와 BMDM이 nylon과 polyethylene에 코팅된 원료인 $Nylonpoly^{TM}$ UVA/UVB을 사용하였다. 무기 자외선 차단제는 zinc oxide(ZnO)와 titanium dioxide($TiO_2$)를 사용하였다. ZnO와 $TiO_2$의 혼합 비율은 6:4가 적당하였다. 총 UV차단제의 함량은 ZnO 6%, $TiO_2$ 4%와 $Nylonpoly^{TM}$ UVA/UVB 5%를 썬 스크린 크림에 혼합하였다. In-vi-tro의 SPF값은 38.9이었다. 응용으로, 동일 함량을 넣은 O/W type과 W/S type의 썬 스크린 크림을 만들어 시간 경과에 따른 SPF를 측정한 결과, SPF가 O/W type보다 W/S type이 5배 이상 오래 지속되었다. 이것은 해수욕, 등산, 스키를 탈 경우에 효과적이다. 본 연구는 자외선 차단제의 피부 트러블을 최소화하고자 하였으며, 매끄러움성, 피부 안전성과 자외선 차단 효과가 우수한 화장품이라고 생각되어진다.

Cooperative Guidance Law for Multiple Near Space Interceptors with Impact Time Control

  • We propose a novel cooperative guidance law design method based on the finite time disturbance observer (FTDO) for multiple near space interceptors (NSIs) with impact time control. Initially, we construct a cooperative guidance model with head pursuit, and employ the FTDO to estimate the system disturbance caused by target maneuvering. We subsequently separate the cooperative guidance process into two stages, and develop the normal acceleration command based on the super-twisting algorithm (STA) and disturbance estimated value, to ensure the convergence of the relative distance. Then, we also design the acceleration command along the line-of-sight (LOS), based on the nonsingular fast terminal sliding mode (NFTSM) control, to ensure that all the NSIs simultaneously hit the target. Furthermore, we prove the stability of the closed-loop guidance system, based on the Lyapunov theory. Finally, our simulation results of a three-to-one interception scenario show that the proposed cooperative guidance scheme makes all the NSIs hit the target at the same time.

수리모형을 이용한 요격확률 및 비용 기반의 다층 방어 요격미사일 운용방법 연구 (A Study on Intercept Probability and Cost based Multi-layer Defense Interceptor Operating Method using Mathematical Model)

  • 탄도미사일 위협에 대응하기 위해 제한된 수량의 요격미사일을 효율적으로 운용하는 것은 중요하다. 기존 요격미사일 운용방법은 방호목표에 적용하는 교전효과수준에 따라 요격미사일 수를 결정한다. 이는 요격확률에 비해 과도한 요격미사일 소모 또는 요격확률 감소를 초래할 수 있다. 따라서 탄도미사일 수와 요격확률 및 비용을 고려하여 요격미사일 운용방법을 결정해야한다. 본 연구는 요격미사일 운용방법을 개선하기 위한 수리모형을 제안한다. 또한, 요격확률과 비용의 절충을 위해 효율성 지표를 제시하였다. 시뮬레이션 결과 수리모형 기반 요격미사일 운용방법이 기존 요격미사일 운용방법에 비해 우수한 결과를 달성할 수 있었다.

An experimental study on the stern bottom pressure distribution of a high-speed planing vessel with and without interceptors

  • In this study, the effects of hydrodynamic interceptors on a high-speed vessel were investigated to identify the operating principle based on experiments. Model tests were performed using a high-speed towing carriage. The resistance, trim and rise of Center of Gravity (CG) of the high-speed vessel were measured for various ship speeds and interceptor heights. As the interceptor height increased, the trim and rise of CG were reduced. In order to quantitatively analyze these phenomena, the pressure at the stern bottom was measured using tactile sensors. The reliability of the measured results from the tactile sensors was verified through repeat tests. The pressure on the stern bottom increased in proportion to the interceptor height, as the interceptor partially blocked the flow there. Then, the trim was reduced. However, as the ship speed increases, the pressure at the location close to the interceptor decreases when the interceptor height is small, leading to increased trim. Therefore, the interceptor height for running attitude control should be carefully determined considering multiple factors in the operating condition of the high-speed planing hull.

차집관로와 하수처리시설의 설치에 따른 도시하천의 수질변화 특성 (Characteristics of Water Quality Change of Urban River according to Installation of Interceptors and Wastewater Treatment Plant)

  • 대전 3대하천을 대상으로 차집관로와 하수처리시설 증설로 인한 도시하천의 수질변화의 특성을 분석하였다. 지난 10년 동안 최고 수질에서 최저 수질의 차이가 가장 큰 하천지점은 하수처리시설 하류부인 갑천5(신구교) 지점이다. 반면에 최근 수질은 이 지점이 다른 지점보다 수질이 불량한 것은 하수처리시설의 방류수 영향이다. 하수처리시설 상류부에서는 대전천이 유기물질의 오염감소에서 다른 지점보다 비교적 양호한 지점인데 이는 차집관로의 유지관리 투자에 기인한 것으로 보인다. 최근 3대하천 수질은 하천수질기준치와 비교하였을 때 대부분 수질항목은 기준치 이내로 적합하였으나 상류지점인 대전천, 유등천, 갑천3 지점의 총인은 기준치에 못 미치므로 하수처리시설 상류부가 하류부보다 차집관로의 유지관리가 더 필요하다. 하수처리시설의 방류수 수질이 하천 수질오염총량관리 지점의 목표수질에 악영향을 주기 쉬우므로 하수처리시설 유지관리의 효율성이 적극 요구된다.

고속선의 트림제어 장치가 항주 자세 및 저항 성능에 미치는 영향 (Experimental investigation of dynamic trim control devices in fast speed vessel)

  • The displacement Deep-V catamaran concept was developed in Newcastle University(UNEW) through development of the systematic Deep-V catamaran series. One of the most important Deep-V catamaran launched to date is Newcastle University's own multi-purpose research vessel, The Princess Royal. The vessel was launched in 2011 and enhanced the Deep-V catamaran concept further with the successful adoption of a novel anti-slamming bulbous bow and tunnel stern for improved efficiency. It was however identified that the vessel has substantial amount of dynamic trim that limited the visibility of the captain. The dynamic trim also increased the wave-making resistance thereby preventing the vessel from attaining its maximum speed in certain sea states. This paper therefore presents the application of devices such as Trim Tabs, Interceptors, Transom Wedges and Integrated Transom Wedges-Tabs to control the dynamic trim and improvement of fuel efficiency of the vessel. All of these energy saving devices were fitted into a model for tests in Newcastle University's Towing Tank. Model test verification confirmed that the optimum appendage was the interceptors, they produced a 5% power saving and 1.2 degree trim reduction at 15 knots, and investigations of full scale trials will be scheduled with and without application of device to compare the improvement of performance.
