  • Due to the continuing technical progress in the capabilities of modeling, simulation, and sensor devices, huge volume data with very high resolution are common. In scientific visualization, various interactive real-time techniques on high performance parallel computers to effectively render such large scale volume data sets have been proposed. In this paper, we present a mobile volume visualization system that consists of mobile clients, gateways, and parallel rendering servers. The mobile clients allow to explore the regions of interests adaptively in higher resolution level as well as specify rendering / viewing parameters interactively which are sent to parallel rendering server. The gateways play a role in managing requests / responses between mobile clients and parallel rendering servers for stable services. The parallel rendering servers visualize the specified sub-volume with rendering contexts from clients and then transfer the high quality final images back. This proposed system lets multi-users with PDA simultaneously share commonly interesting parts of huge volume, rendering contexts, and final images through CSCW(Computer Supported Cooperative Work) mode.

  • In this study, the failure prediction of composite laminates under flexural loading is investigated. A FEA(finite element analysis) using 2D strain-based interactive failure theory. A pregressive failure analysis was applied to FEA for stiffness degradation with failure mode each layer. A three-point bending test based on the ASTM D790 are performed for cross-ply $[0/90]_8$ and quasi-isotropic $[0/{\pm}45/90]_{2s}$ laminated composites. The accuracy of the applied failure theory is verified with the experimental results and other failure criteria such as maximum strain, maximum stress and Tsai-Wu theories.

  • To detect islanding mode when the grid is being tripped is a major safety issue in the Utility Interactive Photo Voltaic (UIPV) system. In this paper, analytical design method is suggested for AFD & RPV method under IEEE 929-2000 recommended islanding test condition. We have discussed that there is a same point. we injected reactive component of the current by AFD & RPV methods, but the current reference generated is other waveform. Possible if amount of reactive components in this methods are same each method, there is happened same rates frequency variation. To verify the validity of the analytical comparison, this paper presents simulation and experimental results from single phase, 3[kW] inverter for the transformerless UIPV system.

  • Geostationary Ocean Color Imager (GOCI), the world-first ocean remote sensing instrument on geostationary Communication, Ocean, Meteorological Satellite (COMS), will be able to take a picture of a large region several times a day (almost with every one hour interval). We, KORDI, are in charge for developing the GOCI data processing system (GDPS) which is the basic software for processing the data from GOCI. The GDPS will be based on windows operating system to produce the GOCI level 2 data products (useful for oceanographic environmental analysis) automatically in real-time mode. Also, the GDPS will be a user-interactive program by well-organized graphical user interfaces for data processing and visualization. Its products will be the chlorophyll concentration, amount of total suspended sediments (TSS), colored dissolved organic matters (CDOM) and red tide from water leaving radiance or remote sensing reflectance. In addition, the GDPS will be able to produce daily products such as water current vector, primary productivity, water quality categorization, vegetation index, using individual observation data composed from several subscenes provided by GOCI for each slit within the target area. The resulting GOCI level 2 data will be disseminated through LRIT using satellite dissemination system and through online request and download systems. This software is carefully designed and implemented, and will be tested by sub-contractual company until the end of this year. It will need to be updated in effect with respect to new/improved algorithms and the calibration/validation activities.

  • We present a new technological concept named RCP (Robotic Cellular Phone), which combines RT and CP. That is an ubiquitous robot. RCP consists of 3 sub-modules, RCP Mobility, RCP interaction, and RCP Integration. RCP Interaction is the main focus of this paper. It is an interactive emotion system which provides CP with multi-emotional signal receiving functionalities. RCP Interaction is linked with communication functions of CP in order to interface between CP and user through a variety of emotional models. It is divided into a tactile, an olfactory and a visual mode. The tactile signal receiving module is designed by patterns and beat frequencies which are made by mechanical-vibration conversion of the musical melody, rhythm and harmony. The olfactory signal receiving module is designed by switching control of perfume-injection nozzles which are able to give the signal receiving to the CP-called user through a special kind of smell according to the CP-calling user. The visual signal receiving module is made by motion control of DC-motored wheel-based system which can inform the CP-called user of the signal receiving through a desired motion according to the CP-calling user. In this paper, a prototype system is developed far multi-emotional signal receiving modes of CP. We describe an overall structure of the system and provide experimental results of the functional modules.

  • With rapid advances on Interactive technology, and the growing popularity of the Internet, Internet shopping receives considerable attention in both the popular-press and academic journals. The Internet has enormous commercial possibilities. But it is a new and dynamic medium that poses special challenges for marketers. The revolutionary nature of the Internet mandates that established wisdom on consumer marketing along with marketing-mix strategies has to be reexamined and perhaps radically revised. In order to assist marketers in this endeavor it is critical to understand consumers' buying behaviors of Internet shopping. But research in this area still very much its infancy. This study examined previous researches of Internet shopping and developed conceptual framework of Internet shopping modes. Additionally, this study examined empirical investigation of Internet shopping. Preliminary results suggests that there are significant differences in individuals' perceptions of Internet shopping and traditional shopping modes. Various factors influences on consumers' buying behavior on Internet shopping. There are Individuals' factors(personality, lifestyle, prior experience, perceived risk etc), shopping mall factors(trust, vividness, security, promotion, etc), product characteristics(product category, brand, etc), situational factors(time pressure, locational constraints etc), social/cultural factors(Norms, importance of other peoples etc). Additionally, We conducted empirical study of the impact of the Internet on consumer shopping behavior. We gathered consumers' reactions via an open-ended survey using a sample of 90 shoppers. We related the reactions to the factors of consumers' satisfaction or dissatisfaction of the Internet shopping. Consequently, there are many questions regarding factors that might influence Internet shopping. From theoretical and practical perspectives, studies that examine these factors would seem to offer much to the discipline. This paper has attempted th provide insights and direction of future empirical examination of Internet shopping.

  • This paper presents a multiple face detector based on a robust pupil detection technique. The pupil detector uses active illumination that exploits the retroreflectivity property of eyes to facilitate detection. The detection range of this method is appropriate for interactive desktop and kiosk applications. Once the location of the pupil candidates are computed, the candidates are filtered and grouped into pairs that correspond to faces using heuristic rules. To demonstrate the robustness of the face detection technique, a dual mode face tracker was developed, which is initialized with the most salient detected face. Recursive estimators are used to guarantee the stability of the process and combine the measurements from the multiface detector and a feature correlation tracker. The estimated position of the face is used to control a pantilt servo mechanism in realtime, that moves the camera to keep the tracked face always centered in the image.

  • The project of China initiative Accelerator Driven Subcritical (CiADS) system has been started to construct in southeast China's Guangdong province since 2019, which is expected to be checked and accepted in the year 2025. In order to make the students in University of Chinese Academy of Sciences (UCAS) better understand the main characteristic and the operation condition in the subcritical nuclear facility, the training platform for CiADS has been developed based on the Cave Automatic Virtual Environment (CAVE) in the Institute of Modern Physics Chinese Academy of Sciences (IMPCAS). The CAVE platform is a kind of non-head mounted virtual reality display system, which can provide the immersive experience and the alternative training platform to substitute the dangerous operation experiments with strong radioactivity. In this paper, the CAVE platform for the training scenarios in CiADS system has been presented with real-time simulation feature, where the required devices to generate the auditory and visual senses with the interactive mode have been detailed. Moreover, the three dimensional modeling database has been created for the different operation conditions, which can bring more freedom for the teachers to generate the appropriate training courses for the students. All the user-friendly features will offer a deep realistic impression to the students for the purpose of getting the required knowledge and experience without the large costs in the traditional experimental nuclear reactor.
