Communication, Ocean, and Meteorological Satellite (COMS) to be launched in year 2008 will be the first Korean multi-purpose geostationary satellite aiming at three major missions, i.e.: communication, ocean, and meteorological applications. The development of systems for the meteorological mission sponsored by the Korea Meteorological Administration (KMA) consists of payloads, ground system, and data processing system. The program called COMS Meteorological Data Processing System (CMDPS) has been initiated for the development of data processing system. The primary objective ofCMDPS is to derive the level-2 environmental products from geo-Iocated and calibrated level 1.5 COMS data. Preliminary design for the level-2 data processing system consists of 16 baseline products and will be refined by end of 3rd project year. Also considered for the development are the necessary initial information such as land use and digital elevation map, algorithms for the vicarious calibration and procedures for the calibration monitoring, and radiative transfer model. Here, we briefly introduce the overall development strategy, flow chart for the intended baseline products, a few preliminary algorithm results and future plans.

Integrated CI (country identity, community identity) planning is necessary for establishing identity and a distinct image as well as for managing green tourism villages. In addition, CI planning will be helpful for improving and advertising a village's image, capitalizing on its specialties and attracting many visitors to the village. Therefore, this study mainly intended to plan and design integrated CI for a green tourism village. For this purpose, this study selected Hari village in Hongsung-Kun, Chungnam province, which the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry designated as a green tourism village in 2003. Twenty CI alternatives were developed, and a vote was conducted with 143 visitors and rural residents attending a village festival in 2004. This study resulted in a new brand-name, 'Hanuri,' and developed symbols, logotypes, distinctive colors, signature system as a basic system and name cards, packaging materials, and signs for use. Above all, this study led the residents to pursue a village identity, village image and community spirit, which can be an effective management strategy to create a distinct image in a green tourism village.

Purpose - This study was intended to find the selection attribution factors and service satisfaction determinants of third party logistics suppliers in Dongdaemun wholesale market. Research design, data, and methodology - A questionnaire survey was performed, and the retailers and wholesalers in Dongdaemun wholesale market were asked to fill in it. Company employees using third party logistics service were selected by a random sampling method. Results - It is easy for both retailers and wholesalers to use third party logistics service. The logistics companies in Dongdaemun wholesale market have paid more heed to the security of freight and the operability. That is, the freight safety and operating service are the most important factors in selecting third party logistics suppliers, and they both have a close relationship with user satisfaction. There is no relation between service level and recognition in selection factors of third party logistics suppliers. All the responsiveness, operability and informativeness of third-party logistics providers has a significant relationship with user satisfaction. Conclusions - Third party logistics service is entirely different from the existing delivery or transport service. The most market vendors' wish for third party logistics suppliers is the stability of freight and robust operating service. They also demand the responsiveness for special or emergency situation with having information strength.

The purpose of this study is to examine the effects of computer-based creativity training. Four groups of vocational high school students totaling 151 were used as experimental subjects. Two dimensions of treatment were designed. One treatment dimension is the use of computer medium in education： computer based vs. paper-pencil setting of education. The second treatment dimension is the method of creativity training: technique-oriented training program vs. factor-oriented training program. Both a pretest and a post-test were administered to all participated students. The tests were composed of a Creative Figural Test and a Creative Product Test. After the pretest 8 sessions of creative training were delivered as intended in the design of the experiment. The Dost-test was arranged a week after the completion of the training sessions. The results of the study include： First, all the 4 groups showed certain amount of improvements in their scores of Creative Figural Test, while no improvements was observed in the creative product test score. Second, the technique-oriented creativity training was more effective than the factor-oriented under the context of computer-based education, and the factor-oriented training was more effective in the paper-pencil setting. The results suggest that different pedagogical approaches should be employed for computer-based training as compared to the paper-pencil education.

Purpose - This study is one of a series of studies on the successful Sextic industry, which was conceived because of the urgency of transforming agriculture to cope with global market-opening pressures as well as to solve domestic difficulties facing Korean rural areas. Research design, data, and methodology - This study involved constructing a questionnaire based on evaluation standards proposed by prior research. Further, this study intended to lay the groundwork for the development of the Sextic industry through the use of IPA. It also sought to explore the possibility of developing scales capable of performing causality analysis. We conducted 149 effective questionnaires, and applied the paired t-test and IPA for the analysis. Results - The results of the analysis indicated that the degrees of producers' perceptions regarding the importance and performance with respect to five variables of the performance indicators were different. Conclusion - It was suggested that the implementing subjects of the Sextic industry should prevent possible problems relating to several factors by building close cooperative relationships with the interested parties of each industry.

The purpose of this research is to make a basic study of a small theater planned to be built on the university campus for the exclusive use of performing arts. For this, the documents and records of small theaters in Seoul was first reviewed. And then, some selected theaters among small theaters opened since 2000 was examined and analyzed by their blueprints, design maps and actual measurement on the spot. Since 1990s, the increase in per capital income, the advancement of culture and arts, and the accompanying increase in demand have prompted universities to open performing arts courses. Going beyond the concept of a multipurpose auditorium a space devoted to professional performances has been increasingly needed by many universities. Small theaters that have been the subjects of study have become extinct or changed for other uses due to the rapid changes in the performing environment. This research examined theaters that have opened since 2000 and analyzed the data on their stages and seats. This study is intended for providing preliminary data for building of a small theater on the university campus.

Due to old Toshiba EMS's database size limit and hardware old aging, KPX(Korea Power Exchange) had introduced New EMS from AREVA(old ALSTOM) in July 2002. After then KPX had committed many man power and time to normalize EMS NA(Network Analysis) functions for using real power system. At initial stage, to normalize State Estimator which is the backbone of all other NA functions and DTS(Dispatcher Training Simulator}, KPX had corrected numerous topology errors, network model errors, non-scanned and wrongly scanned SCADA measured errors. After SE function study, running test and tuning, State Estimator could finally have been run properly and stably from June 2003. Based on SE running, KPX had normalized real time Contingency Analysis, and study mode Power Flow, STNET and DTS. From early 2004, dispatchers have been trained to use NA and DTS for the purpose of stable SE running, NA operation & results reading and urgent equipment outage reviewing. EMS NA have been greatly contributed to operate real time power system stably. Above NA normal operation by KPX own efforts under the no experience of NA running, KPX made a good precedent. This paper is intended to introduce EMS NA normalization process, operation status, and etc in Korea power system operation.

This study was intended to contribute to allowing athletes to raise a technical understanding of two motions of high difficulty such as the Swallow motion and the Nakayama motion and enhance their competitive power by analysing the kinematical factors required to link those two motions on the competitive scene on the rings for current national athletes. For this purpose, the game of the ring event was videotaped for male heavy gymnasts participating in the final elimination match of the 2004 Athens Olympic Games. This study attempted to select the performing motions of the final 1st-and 2nd-place athletes performing the linking motions from the Swallow motion and the Nakayama motion using the DLT(direct linear transformation) method. As a result, it arrived at the following conclusion : A1 properly performed the flexing and extending movements using the angular velocity of the segment and joint as the switching motion using the body at the time of linking the motion from the Swallow skill to the Nakayama skill. A2 was evaluated to perform the skill taking the form of depending on the force at the static state. Therefore, it is thought that A1 should take care of shaking at the time of using the elasticity of the body. It is thought that in case of A2 the proper use of the elasticity of the body take care of shaking at the switching motion while taking advantage of the force will contribute to his competitive power.

The purpose of this study is to understand the evolution of food culture by applying the evolutionary mechanism to the process of forming the dog meat culture. To do this, this study first examined mutation, selection, and replication as a evolutionary mechanism by biological genes and explain the evolutionary process of food culture by applying so-called 'mime' which is a virally-transmitted cultural symbol or social idea. A meme acts as a unit for carrying cultural ideas, practices, that can be transmitted from one mind to another through writing, speech, gestures, rituals, or other imitable phenomena with a mimicked theme. In addition, this study also intended to use in-depth interviews on how people have diverse cultural perspectives interpret and accept edible culture of dog meat. In Korea, which was a traditional farming society, dog meat which is easier to obtain compare to beef has been chosen as an important source of protein. And this choice has been repeatedly reproduced through generations. However, the current generation's awareness of the edible culture of dog meat has changed. The meme of pet culture has been selected and replicated, and this cultural evolution will eventually lead to the culling of dog meat.

21century design is working in order to increase the accessibility, eliminating alienation hierarchy for the use of the product. Efforts to these design approach are not intended for a small number of users. It offers the advantage of a variety of design for users of a wider range. So, it was allowed to extend the value in good design for all human beings. Traditional thought is expressed in a variety of shapes by applying meaning to another re-interpretation for the form to contemporary furniture and structure and decoration. Gyeongsang have a religious solemn feeling in the typical furniture of hall space that reflects the inner distinctive tradition thought of scholar of the Chosun Dynasty. For these reasons, in the present study, based on the modeling elements of Gyeongsang, which is based on the traditional idea of our country, there is the purpose to propose a design of agreed with table in modern lifestyle. Design concept proposed in this paper, to be applied to the design of the table is placed in the living space by re-interpreting the modeling properties which can be felt in the thin form and structure and patterns as modern image.
