  • The purpose of this study is to develop an evaluation system for integrative comfort values of Hanok residence. For this study, a mock-up located in Yongin, Gyeonggi province built by an ongoing governmental research project has been chosen. Then, SSN (Smart Sensor Network) has been utilized for monitoring quantitative factors in the environment and detailed face-to-face surveys have been performed for analyzing qualitative comfort indexes from residents in the experimental settings. Then, this study employs a combined evaluation system using AHP (Analytic Hierarchy Process) established for estimating overall DIC (Degree of Integrative Comfort) of the Hanok residence. As a result, the evaluation system could verify the total comfort indexes of Hanok residence and suggest converged methodologies for establishing value assessment system for traditional residential facilities. The method of DIC suggested in this paper would be examined with current residents in a built mock-up to see its applicability as a comprehensive evaluation model, and it is expected that collected year-round comfort data from the facility would provide more practical information towards future strategies for the Hanok residence.

  • This study aims to construct the integrative performance evaluation model of informatization programs. In order to achieve the purpose of research, first of all, the three major theoretical paradigms (technical/functional, economic/financial, and interpretive/alternative paradigms) are comparatively analyzed concerning their philosophical and methodological perspectives. Also, a number of important studies and research model in the area of IS (Information Systems) evaluation are critically reviewed. And then actual problems and limitations on the process of implementing IS performance evaluation are sought through investigating domestic and foreign practices. Based upon theoretical and practical review of informatization evaluation and logical reasoning, the components of ideal performance evaluation scheme for informatization program are derived, and the integrative performance evaluation model which can comprehensively represent the relationship among the components is conceptually proposed. For researchers, this study provides the theoretical basis for reasonably deriving the performance variables of informatization programs and empirically validating the performance of managing informatization programs. And in real world, the results of this study are very likely to contribute to presenting the practical guideline for desirably implementing performance evaluation of informatization programs.

  • Today, residential building is considered of be one of the most important space of their quality of life and health. Residential buildings should provide comfortable environments to support the activities of their occupants. And good residential buildings are made by appropriately combining residential spaces, such as living room, master bedroom, bedroom, kitchen, restroom, and so on. These combinations in residential building are must be compatible with the activities of the occupants and their needs. The objective of this research is to investigate and analyze the relative importance and space priority between residential space in residential buildings depending on occupants' characteristics, such as, gender and age. Especially, this research is to find space weighting factors for integrative evaluation in residential buildings based on occupant survey. These weighting factors play an important role in determining the relative importance of various residential spaces for integrative residential space evaluation. And, the result from this research will help designers and researchers to find space planning strategies in residential building, and develop new integrative evaluation framework for improving residential quality from the occupants' point of view.

  • Objective: To evaluate the effectiveness of the home-based program composed of sensory diet for child with sensory modulation disorder. Method: The subject underwent the home-based program composed of sensory diet for 8 months. Evaluation tools we used are the Developmental Screening Test II(DDSTII) for developmental screening; the Short Sensory Profile(SSP), clinical observation and the clinical history record form for sensory integrative function; the Motor-Free Visual Perception Test(MVPT) and draw a person test for visual perception. Evaluation was executed before and after the program is provided. Results: The subject has showed remarkable improvement in developmental level, sensory integrative function and visual perceptual ability after went through the home-based program. Conclusion: The home-based program composed of sensory diet is effective for children with sensory modulation disorder when it is difficult to apply classical sensory integrative approach.

  • Objective: The purpose of this study is to report the effect of integrative medicine on recurrent follicular lymphoma, thus providing a clinical basis for integrative medicine. Methods: The medical report of a patient with follicular lymphoma who had undergone several chemotherapies but continuously relapsed before treated with integrative medicine was analyzed. Radiologic outcome was assessed by several imaging tests based on Response Evaluation Criteria in Solid Tumors. Clinical outcome and safety were assessed by laboratory tests. Results: After five years of integrative treatment, there was a complete response in imaging tests such as computed tomography (CT), positron-emission tomography/CT, and endoscopy. There were no toxicity in the laboratory test and no serious side effect of integrative medicine. Conclusion: This study suggested that integrative medicine has few side effects but significant effects on treating recurrent follicular lymphoma. However, the results should be taken cautiously as further clinical studies are needed.

  • Purpose : The purpose of this study was to develop an index of usability that reflects the needs and characteristics of the elderly. The usability index is used primarily to assess issues in the usability of a product. Methods : In this study, 22 items for mobile toilet usability index were developed by consulting with 12 elderly users, 6 caregivers, and 12 experts. The usability evaluation index was intended to increase reliability through preliminary and main evaluations. In addition, the validity of the items used as the usability evaluation index was verified to prove that the index is effective for the evaluation. Result : The usability index is a welfare tool developed by gathering data from various sources such as previous studies dealing with usability evaluation, characteristics of users, range of use, and environment of product use. Conclusion : The development of the usability index for mobile toilets was useful for the user to quantitatively derive the problem of the product. Consequently, user needs and usability problems can be identified, which can help improve product quality.
