  • This paper deals with the development of a software module for production planning and scheduling activities of an existing Flexible Machining and Assembly System (FMAS). The Production Planning Module uses the hierarchical and sequential scheme based on "divide and conquer" philosophy. In this module, routes are determined based on the production order, orders are screened, tools are allocated, and order adjustments are executed according to the allocated tools. The Scheduling Module allocates the resources, determines the task priority and the start and completion times of tasks. Re-scheduling can be done to handle unforeseen situations such as lumpy demands and machine breakdowns. Since all modules are integrated with a central database and they interface independently, it is easy to append new modules or update the existing modules. The result of this study is used for operating the real FMAS consisting of a machining cell with 2 domestic NC machines and a part feeding robot, an assembly cell with a conveyor and 3 robots, an inspection cell, an AGV, an AS/RS, and a central control computer.

  • This paper describes the SAR geocoding module, which is the sub-module of a IRHIS ('Integrated RS s/w for High resolution satellite ImageS'): package of 'Development of High Resolution Satellite Image Processing Technique' project in Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute (ETRI). The function of this module is following. 1) Orbit Type : ERS1/ERS2, RADARSAT 2) Data Format : SAR CEOS Format(Single Look Complex) 3) Function: - Geocode : Generate a map projected SAR image based on only orbit information - Orthorectify: Generate a rigorous geocoded SAR image with a DEM information In this paper, we briefly describe the algorithm that is adopted to the functions, and component architecture.

  • This paper proposes learning modules as a kind of integrated instruction model for soft skills program outcomes to enable CEA. Learning modules consist of course learning objectives(outcomes) described in detail, learning content(elements), learning activities(teaching learning methods), evaluation methods, evaluation rubrics so that they can be evaluated based on the performance criteria of the program learning outcomes. The unit of time for the learning module is 50 minutes. If this learning module is applied, it is expected that the soft skill program outcomes can be evaluated in the technical course. As a result of the expert feasibility study, the positive answers were much higher than the negative answers in most of the questions about the composition of the learning module or the method of managing the class.

  • The demand for food rises proportionally as population grows. To be able to achieve sustainable supply of livestock products, efficient farm management is a necessity. With the advancement in technology it also brought innovations that could be harness in order to achieve better productivity in animal production and agriculture. Precision Livestock Farming (PLF) is a budding concept of making use of smart sensors or available devices to automatically and continuously monitor and manage livestock production. With this concept, this paper introduces a swine management system that integrates image processing technique for weight monitoring. This system captures pig images using camera, evaluate and estimate the weight base on the captured image. It is comprised of Pig Module, Breeding Module, Health and Medication Module, Weighr Module, Data Analysis Module and Report Module to help swine farm administrators better understand the performance and situation of the swine farm. This paper aims to improve the management in both small and big livestock raisers.

  • This study presents an application of object-oriented methodology for structural dcsign process. A prototype system of integrated a structural design system is developed by introducing a structural analysis object model(SAOM) and structural design object model(SDOM). The SAOM module. which is modeled as a part of structural member, performs structural analysis using FEM approach and the SDOM module checks structural members based on Korea steel design standard.   • In this paper, we design and implement the monolithic power factor correction IC for system power modules using a high voltage(50V) CMOS process. The power factor correction IC is designed for power applications, such as refrigerator, air-conditioner, etc. It includes low voltage logic, 5V regulator, analog control circuit, high-voltage high current output drivers, and several protection circuits. And also, the designed IC has standby detection function which detects the output power of the converter stage and generates system down signal when load device is under the standby condition. The simulation and experimental results show that the designed IC acts properly as power factor correction IC with efficient protective functions.

  • U-City related researches and development have been actively conducted in Korea since 2002. According to the Act on Ubiquitous City Construction, "U-City" is defined as "the city to provide ubiquitous service anytime anywhere through the existing ubiquitous backbone systems and ubiquitous technologies, ultimately for the purpose of improving urban competitiveness and quality of life. This research explains the plan to develop collective management technology for integrated operation of U-Space which makes up U-City. Specifically, this report is intended to suggest basic approach of identifying collective management elements of each U-Space type, developing integrated management system and creating interface module to link the system with urban integrated operation center.

  • In this paper, the radar cross section of the integrated mast module for battleship is analyzed. The computation program based on physical optics and physical theory of diffraction is developed and the computed results are compared with those of commercial simulator to check the accuracy of computations. The radar cross section is calculated in terms of the mast shape, incident angle, and polarization. The radar cross section can be reduced through the change of the mast slope and the chamfered mast, which can be applied to a mast with a low radar cross section.

  • In this paper, we propose an object-oriented modeling technique using UML(Unified Modeling Language) for accessibility of user and efficiency of facilities under Web-based integrated manufacturing management system application. For this, we first collect user requirements and related technology of integrated manufacturing system, and then design proposed system considering business flow and various essential design part(class, component, package, use case, and etc) to reduce system risk as well as communicate peacefully between developers in system redevelopments. Additionally, we develop database of manufacturing master code, check management, repair management and error management for proposed systems. Finally, we design and implement our three main modules; manufacturing check module, manufacturing repair module, manufacturing error module under Web-based environments with JSP language.

  • Polishing a die that has free-form surfaces is a time-consuming and tedious job, and requires a considerable amount of high-precision skill. Some workers tend to gradually avoid the polishing work because of the poor environment caused by dust and noise. In order to reduce the polishing time and cope with the shortage of skilled workers, a user-friendly automatic polishing system was developed in this research. The polishing system with five degrees of freedom is able to keep the polishing tool normal to the die surface. The polishing system is controlled by a PC-NC controller. To easily operate the developed polishing robot system, this study developed an integrated program in the Windows environment. This program consists of four modules: the polishing module, the graphic simulator, the polishing data generation module, and the teaching module. Also, the automatic teaching system was developed to easily obtain teaching data and it consists of a three dimensional joystick and a proximity sensor. The joystick is used to simultaneously drive the polishing system to an arbitrary orientation and the proximity sensor is used to obtain teaching points precisely. Also, to evaluate the stability of the driving program and the teaching system, polishing experiments of a die of saddle shape were carried out.
