수리구조 개선을 통한 다중 펌프 흡수정에서 발생하는 보텍스 방지 대책 수립에 관한 연구 (Modifications to Hydraulic Structures for Anti-submerged Vortex in a Multi Pump Intake using CFD simulation Technique)

  • In order to suggest the methodology for achieving anti-vortex device within multi pump intake well, CFD(Computational Fluid Dynamics) simulation were conducted for two alternative suggestions. Multi-intake sump model with anti-vortex device basins were designed and the characteristics of submerged vortex were investigated in the flow field by numerical simulation. From the results of simulations, to install the horizontal plate and vertical cross plates within basins were effective for preventing air-induction vortex.

  • A better flow condition for the intake of pump is provided by the sump pump that connects the forebay to the intake of the pump station. If the suction sump is improperly shaped or sized, air-entraining vortices or submerged vortices may develop. These phenomena may greatly affect pump operation if vortices become sufficiently large. Moreover, any remaining vortices in the pump flow passage may result in an increase in the noise and vibration of the pump. Therefore, the vortices in the pump flow passage must be reduced to achieve good pump sump station performance. In this study, the effect of suction pipe leaning angle on the pump sump's internal flow is investigated. Additionally, a pipe type with an elbow shape is investigated. The results show that the air entraining vortices occur under the condition of a water level ratio H/D = 1.31 for each suction pipe type.

  • The amount of the heating and cooling energy of water source heat pump using the raw water from the Paldang water intake station is investigated in the study. The Han river water is conveyed in the large-size shallowly buried pipe. Averaged water temperature at the position, 27 km from the Paldang water intake station, is increased by $1.11^{\circ}C$ due to the geothermal energy transfer under the ground, therefore the raw water has more thermal energy than the river water. To estimate of the thermal energy for the raw water, it is assumed that the water source heat pump is used for the heating and cooling ventilation. When $5.0^{\circ}C$ temperature difference energy of the raw water is used in the heat pump system all the year except for the January and February in which $3.0^{\circ}C$ temperature difference energy is used. It is predicted that total 5,766.3 Tcal could be used in the metropolitan area a year, which is about 3.0% of the river water unutilized energy resources.

  • The head-capacity curves for pumps developed by the pump manufacturer are based on tests of a sin91e pump operating in a semi-infinite pool with no nearby walls or floors and no stray currents. Hence, flow into the pump suction is symmetrical with no vortices or swirling. Pump station designers rely on these curves to define the operating conditions for the pump selected. But various constraints such as size, cost, and limitations on storage time require walls, floors, and pump intakes to be close proximity to each other. From this background, the authors are carrying out a systematic study on the flow characteristics of intakes within a sump found within a sump of pump stations. Model pump intake basin is designed and PIV is adopted as a measuring tool to capture the instantaneous flow patterns. Special attention is paid to investigate the flow patterns near the free surface due to different clearances from back-wall to vertical intake pipe with bell mouse and without. Moreover, the locations and vorticities of the various types of vortices that were found in the examinations are discussed.

펌프 흡수정내 발생된 보텍스에 대한 CFD 예측 (CFD Prediction on Vortex in Sump Intake at Pump Station)

  • In large pump station, vortex generation such as free-surface vortex and submerged vortex occurring around pump intake, or at bell-mouth inlet has been an important flow characteristics which should be considered always to keep away the suction of air-entrained or cavitated flow. In this study, a commercial CFD code was used to predict accurately the vortex generation for the specified intake design. These result shows the preliminary result of submerged vortex prediction for the Turbo-machinery Society of Japan Sump Test CFD standard model. At bottom wall, air volume fraction (red color) was found in a large scale to explain the submerged vortex generation at particular operation and configuration condition. And these indicate the free surface formation behind the bell mouth. Particularly, non-uniform approaching flow is a major parameter to govern the occurrence of the free-surface vortex. Futhermore the comparison between turbulence ($k-{\epsilon}$ & $k-{\omega}$ model) mode were executed in this study.

Association between occurrence of multiple white and flat elevated gastric lesions and oral proton pump inhibitor intake

  • Background/Aims: Multiple white and flat elevated lesions (MWFL) that develop from the gastric corpus to the fornix may be strongly associated with oral antacid intake. Therefore, this study aimed to determine the association between the occurrence of MWFL and oral proton pump inhibitor (PPI) intake and clarify the endoscopic and clinicopathological characteristics of MWFL. Methods: The study included 163 patients. The history of oral drug intake was collected, and serum gastrin levels and anti-Helicobacter pylori immunoglobulin G antibody titers were measured. Upper gastrointestinal endoscopy was performed. The primary study endpoint was the association between MWFL and oral PPI intake. Results: In the univariate analyses, MWFL were observed in 35 (49.3%) of 71 patients who received oral PPIs and 10 (10.9%) of 92 patients who did not receive oral PPIs. The occurrence of MWFL was significantly higher among patients who received PPIs than in those who did not (p<0.001). Moreover, the occurrence of MWFL was significantly higher in patients with hypergastrinemia (p=0.005). In the multivariate analyses, oral PPI intake was the only significant independent factor associated with the presence of MWFL (p=0.001; odds ratio, 5.78; 95% confidence interval, 2.06-16.2). Conclusions: Our findings suggest that oral PPI intake is associated with the presence of MWFL (UMINCTR 000030144).

수리실험을 이용한 발전소의 순환수 취수부 흡입수조의 와류저감에 관한 연구 (On Vortex Reduction Characteristics of Pump Sump Circulating Water Intake Basin of Power Plant Using Hydraulic Experiment)

  • 발전소의 주요시설 중 발전 시스템 냉각용으로 사용되는 순환수는 순환수 취수부(Circulation Water Intake Basin)를 통해 공급된다. 순환수 취수부 중 흡입수조(Pump Sump)에서 발생하는 다양한 형태의 와류는 순환수펌프(Circulation Water Pump) 및 관로에 악영향을 미친다. 특히, 공기의 흡입을 동반한 자유표면 와류는 진동, 소음, 공동현상 등을 발생시켜 순환수펌프의 성능 저하, 관로의 손상을 일으키며 발전이 중단되는 주요 원인이 된다. 따라서 수리모형 실험을 통해 순환수 취수부에 대한 수리특성을 반드시 확인하고, 와류 발생 시 와류를 제어할 수 있는 적절한 와류제어장치(Anti Vortex Device)를 적용하여 원활한 발전소 운영이 가능하도록 해야 한다. 자유표면 와류 저감을 위해 와류제어장치 중커튼월(Curtain Wall)을 사용하는 것이 일반적이며, 자세한 내용은 American National Standard for Pump Intake Design에서 기술하고 있다. 본 연구에서는 리비아 Tripoli West 4×350 MW 발전소의 순환수 취수부를 대상으로 하였으며, 실제 운영조건을 적용하고, 수리모형 실험을 통해 순환수 취수부 중 흡입수조에서 발생하는 와류제어장치의 와류저감 효과를 분석하였다. 또한, 수중와류 제어를 위해 플로어 스플리터(floor splitter)는 기본적으로 적용하였고, 자유표면에서 발생하는 와류제어를 위해 새로운 형태인 컬럼 커튼월(Column Curtain Wall)을 추가적으로 적용하여 효과를 확인하였다. 본 연구에서는 일반적으로 적용되었던 커튼월에 새로 개발한 컬럼 커튼월을 추가적으로 적용하여 수리특성을 분석한 결과, 균일한 흐름이 형성되면서 와류가 제어되는 것을 확인하였다. 또한, 순환수펌프 관로 내에서 발생하는 와류각도는 ANSI/HI 9.8의 설계기준인 5° 이하로 나타나 흐름의 안정성을 확인하였다.

보령화력발전소 7·8호기 순환수 취수에 대한 수리 및 수치모형실험 (Hydraulic and Numerical Model Experiments of Circulation Water Intake for Boryeong Thermal Power Plant No. 7 and No. 8)

  • 본 연구에서는 화력발전소 순환수취수로의 유량증가가 취수펌프장 흐름에 미치는 영향을 해석하고 개선하기 위하여 수리 및 수치모형실험을 수행하였다. 수치모형실험결과에 의하면 화력발전소 순환수취수로의 유량이 증가하면 취수로내의 유속과 순환수취수 펌프장의 연직방향와도가 증가하여 순환수취수 펌프장내의 와류발생가능성이 크게 증가하는 것을 알 수 있었다. 수리모형실험을 수행하여 순환수취수펌프장 유입부의 수면 근처 흐름은 거의 균등한 유량 배분이 이루어지고 반면에, 바닥 근처의 흐름은 유량 배분이 균등하게 이루어지지 못하여 취수펌프장내에서 역류현상이 발생하는 것을 밝혀냈다. 삼각형 도류벽을 취수펌프장 유입부에 설치하여 유속분포의 불균일성을 제거할 수 있었고 역류발생문제를 제거하였다.
