  • The insulation diagnostic tests was performed at local thermal power plants high voltage motor. The insulation diagnostic tests include measurements of insulation resistance, polarization index, AC current, $tan{\delta}$, partial discharges. This paper describes the difference of insulation characteristics for high voltage motor makers.

  • In this paper, design considerations and manufacturing procedure of 200 class insulation system with polyimide(Kapton) main insulation and silicone resin VPI process on the traction motor thor EMU will be reviewed. The performance test and the long life evaluation test that prove stability and reliability of Insulation system for traction motor will also be introduced.

  • This paper present the fundamental insulation characteristics of Dry Air gas and insulation coating in high voltage power apparatus. It is known that the dielectric strength. of Dry Air is approximately one-third that of SF6 gas. we attempt that the insulation coating and dry air gas have replaced the SF6 gas as insulation of the switchgear. We proposed the dry air insulated switchgear(DAIS) for High Voltage apparatus.   • Traction motors driven by high speed switching inverters is demanded higher operating temperature, severe duty cycles, higher starting current, frequent voltage transients and finally severe environmental exposure. For applications to inverter duty, traction motors needs a special insulation system, which has characteristics of increased bond strength, lower operating temperature and higher turn-to-turn insulation. In this paper, design considerations and manufacturing procedure of 200 Class insulation system with polyimde(Kapton) main insulation and silicone resin VPI process on the traction motor for EMU will be reviewed. And performance test and long life evaluation test which prove stability and long life evaluation test which prove stability and reliability of insulation system for traction motor will be introduced.

A Study on Insulation Properties of Global VPI Type Generator through Replacement of Stator Windings

  • As the competition in the manufacturing market for small and medium sized generators is intensifying, there is increasing pressure to reduce production cost. Manufacturing the generator stator windings with global vacuum pressure impregnation (GVPI) is a very effective way to reduce costs. However, the stator winding has a fatal disadvantage in that the insulation wears due to vibration in the slot. KEPRI (KEPCO Research Institute) conducted insulation diagnosis for three generators in KOMIPO (Korea Midland Power Co., Ltd.) which were manufactured by GVPI and operated for about 17 years. Insulation diagnosis showed that deterioration of insulation has progressed significantly. Therefore, KEPRI recommended replacing the stator windings of all three generators. In this paper, the insulation properties of the generator stator winding with global GVPI are described by comparing and analyzing the insulation diagnosis results and visual inspection for stator windings.

  • The insulation of cable which used for Ultra-High Voltage(UHV) underground power transmission requires excellent insulation capability for high voltage. The typical insulation materials are used XLPE, EPR, etc, but insulation efficiency of these is affected by void or alien substances, existed at the inside of insulators. In this paper, the partial discharge patterns of the defects within insulation cable are observed and analyzed. In this test, void, fiber and metal inclusions which possibly exist in cables, are simulated and investigated the patterns of partial discharges for each models Also the relations between calculated field strength and the insulation breakdown voltage. The experiment shows distinct partial discharge patterns in accordance with the kinds of defects within Insulation cable.

  • Reduction of insulation thickness would be beneficial not only for increasing the cable length but would also improve its thermal performance. An interfacial diffusion method was devised to reduce insulation thickness by improving the interfacial properties of XLPE cable insulation. In this paper, to evaluate superficially the interface properties between XLPE insulation and semiconducting layer, the dielectric and insulation properties of tan${\delta}$ and volume resistance were measured with temperature dependence. Above the results, dielectirc and insulation properties with semiconductor/XLPE were more anormal than its bulk caused by the interfacial properties.

  • Insulation aging diagnosis system provides early warning in regard to electrical equipment defects. Early warning is very important in that it can avoid great losses resulting from unexpected shutdown of the production line. For solving this problem, many researchers proposed a method that diagnose power plant by using partial discharge. In this paper, we design the intelligent sensor to diagnose insulation degradation state that uses a Microprocessor and Al. Proposed sensor has MCU that is used to diagnose insulation degradation and communicate with main IDD system. And we use a fuzzy model to diagnose insulation degradation.

  • In this paper, breakdown strength and dielectric characteristics were experimented in the structures of insulation/insulation/insulation and insulation/semiconductor/insulation by using of insulation material of polyethylene terephthalate film. The breakdown strength and the permitivity of each specimen were measured as a function of temperature and frequency respectively. The breakdown strength of PET/PET/PET did not changed greatly but that of PET/SEMl/PEr increased as a function of temperature. As the frequency inclosed, the permitivity of PET/PET/PET and PET/SEMI/PET decreased. The tan $\delta$ of PET/PET/PET showed lower than that of PET/SEMl/PET in low frequency but higher in high frequency .

  • Insulation in buildings are one of the crucial factors for energy reduction, and depending on the application areas and properties of the insulation requirements, various different types of insulation materials are being developed, produced, and used. Amongst these is the aircaps often used as packing materials. Because of their porous nature, they are highly efficient in preventing heat and are consequently used overseas often as insulation materials and as part of cold water concrete insulation curing method. This paper studies the recently developed usage of aircaps in waterproofing materials and evaluated their performance as supplementary insulation materials.
