Condition Diagnosis & On-line Monitoring Technology on the Traction Motor for Railway Rolling Stock (철도차량 견인전동기의 상태진단 및 상시감시 기술)

  • This paper presents the technology of condition diagnosis & life estimation on insulation system of the traction motor. In the non-destructive methods for diagnosis of coil insulation state, residual dielectric strength is estimated by the D-map which consist of the partial discharge quantity Q and average degradation degree $\Delta$. In the operating history of machine, the N-Y life estimation method is based on the stop-starting numbers and operating times with considering each degradation factor by the thermal, electrical and heat-cycle stress. With the on-line conditioning monitoring on the currents of traction motors, detecting the abnormal operating state due to bearing faults, stator or armature faults, eccentricity related faults and broken rotor bars can be performed.

Properties of On-Line Partial Discharge in Hydrogenerator Stator Windings (수력발전기 고정자 권선의 운전중 부분방전 특성)

  • During normal machine operation, partial discharge(PD) tests were performed with partial discharge analyzer(PDA) in two hydrogenerators. Six cable couplers were installed in circuit ring bus and endwinding of three phases. PDA showed that the normalized quantity number(NQN) and the partial discharge magnitude$(Q_m)$ were very low in hydrogenerator #1 and #2, respectively. The trend analyses of NQN and $Q_m$ value are available for monitoring of the insulation condition in hydrogenerator stator windings. The insulation condition of stator winding can be assessed. Discharge at conductor surface was discovered in B phase(C2 coupler) of hydrogenerator #1. Internal discharges were generated in A and C phases(C2 coupler) of hydrogenerator #1 and in A, Band C phases(C1 and C2 couplers) of hydrogenerator #2. Slot discharges occurred in A, Band C phases(C1 coupler) of hydrogenerator #1. The stator windings of two hydrogenerators were in good condition.

  • Most Plastic Green Houses in Korea are made according the European weather condition, which lead to have very low solar energy efficiency. Moreover, the function of green houses, as well as the structure of them, has not changed for Korean weather condition. Therefore, the structure and function of them should adopt the regional weather condition in order to improve the energy efficiency. This paper investigates the current plastic green housesin Korea, and presents an alternative for improving the energy efficiency. The elements of green houses were investigated. When using a partial opaque insulation with a thermal storage body, the difference of indoor air temperature became 20C during daytime, and 5C during night, which will save massive fossil fuels.

  • Sound insulation performance of the flush door in the apartment unit was recently decreased due to the door for the purpose of barrier free. To evaluate sound insulation, the test for 13 kinds of flush doors was performed as aperture conditions under the flush door. and the measured value was compared with the predicted values of theoretical sound transmission. The results were summarized follow; First, in case of doors with aperture by barrier free, the single number quantities ($D_{pw}$) were evaluated $21{\sim}23dB$. Whereas, in case of existing door with frame, $D_{pw}$ was evaluated $28{\sim}31dB$. And in case of sealed doors, $D_{pw}$ was evaluated $31{\sim}34dB$. Second, the measured $D_{pw}$ was good agreement with the predicted $D_{pw}$ in condition of small aperture.

Characteristics of Insulation Aging in Large Generator Stator Windings (대용량 발전기 고정자 권선의 절연열화 특성)

  • Insulation tests have been performed on two generator stator bars under accelerated aging under a laboratory environment. Electrical stress was applied to stator bar No.1, and electrical and thermal stresses were applied to stator bar No.2. Nondestructive stator insulation tests including the ac current, dissipation factor($tan{\delta}$), and partial discharge tests have been performed on both bars as the bars were aged for 11460 hours. Experimental test results show that ${\Delta}I$, ${\Delta}tan{\delta}$, and partial discharge of No. 1 and No.2 stator bars increased with increased in aging time. It has been concluded from the test that the stator insulation of the two generators are in good condition.

  • There are lots of problem which are delaminations and partial discharge of insulation materials in high-voltage rotating machines caused by mechanical, electrical and thermal aging. Several experiments have been aiming at finding the useful diagnostic parameters from the partial discharge characteristics by applying a new measurement techniques. This paper deals with the partial discharge characteristics (pulse height, pulse angle, pulse frequency spectrum and time interval), which may be a useful diagnostic concept in predicting insulation condition of mica/epoxy composite insulation materials, by using several measurement equipments (frequency spectrum analyzer. multichannel analyzer and time interval analyzer).

  • The object of this study is to find the optimal insulation design conditions of a HTS power cable cryostat. The optimum condition of a cable cryostat is obtained by varying types of MLIs, cable core weights, spacer diameters, winding pitches and MLI layer numbers. As the weight of cable core is increased, conduction heat transfer from surroundings to cable cryostat is increased. But as the spacer pitch is increased from 120 mm to 200 mm, the heat leak of cable cryostat remains almost constant. The optimal number of MLI layers is suggested. Double ply MLI is more effective than triple ply MLI and the insulation effect is best when the number of MLI layers is 36.

  • This study was conducted to draw various decisive elements of a reasonable heat curing method and to examine the importance in deciding a construction method when constructing cold weather concrete. As a result, the items proposed as important elements at the time of decision of a heat curing method included economy, workability, maintainability, insulation capability, reduced construction period and usability. As a result of importance by items under AHP technique, it was found the most important element was insulation capability, followed by reduced construction period and workability. As a result of comparison of a heat supplying and a heat insulation method by dual bubble sheet differed 2 times as much as a heat supplying method, especially the evaluation degree by insulation capability and reduced construction period was high.

  • An 1/21.6 scaled experimental facility was prepared utilizing the results of a scaling analysis to simulate the APRI400 reactor and insulation system. The behaviors of the boiling-induced two-phase natural circulation flow in the insulation gap were observed, and the liquid mass flow rates driven by natural circulation loop were measured by varying the wall heat flux, upper exit slot area and configuration. And non-heating experiments have also been performed and discussed to certify the hydraulic similarity of the heating experiments by injecting air equivalent to the steam generated in the heating experimental condition.

  • This paper is purpose to understand the insulation properties of the high voltage motor stator winding according to the different dryness conditions. we carried out the three times insulation diagnosis test for the same motor stator winding. the first test object is the contaminated winding, second is the washed-out, and natural dried during the 24 hours, and the last is the heating dried in 110$^{\circ}C$ during the 48 hours. the insulation diagnosis tests are consist of the megger, the polarization index, the AC current test, the dissipation factor test and the partial discharge test, we analyzed and made a comparison of the three cases test result.
