  • The purpose of this paper is the improvement of the speed control characteristics of induction machines suited the low resolution incremental-type encoder in a low speed region. In order to improve the control characteristics in a low speed range, we propose that the instantaneous speed control method by the instantaneous speed detection which is implemented by the disturbance torque observer. Also, in case of the speed control by the instantaneous speed detection, the simple estimation method of the mechanical inertia moment is proposed. We will the carry out the mathematical verification of the proposed theory by the theoretic advisement connected with the convergence relationship of the estimated inertia moment to the real mechanical inertia moment. Computer simulations and experiments by the IGBT inverter adopting DSP is performed to verify the proposed method.

  • This paper proposes a new speed sensorless control method of a permanent magnet synchronous motor using an instantaneous reactive power. In the proposed algorithm, the line currents are estimated by a observer and the estimated speed can be yielded from the voltage equation because the information of speed is included in back emf. But the speed estimation error between the estimated and the real speeds is occured by errors due to measuring the motor parameters and sensing the line current and the input voltage. To minimize the speed estimation error, the estimated speed is compensated by using an instantaneous reactive power. In this paper, the proposed algorithm is not affected by mechanical motor parameters because the mechanical equation is not used. The effectiveness of algorithm is confirmed by the experiments.

  • In this paper, we proposed a new speed control algorithm based on the least-order observer theory. The proposed system using the new algorithm can estimate the instantaneous speed accurately even at low speed by using a load torgue observer estimating the torgue component of indirect-vector controlled induction motor. Thus the stable characteristics of speed control are possible at low speed even in the case of using low-resolution rotary encoder. Also, the system becomes robust against disturbance by feedforward control the load torque estimated automatically at the speed observer.

  • In this paper, the load torque observer is designed for speed and torque control of DC motor. Load torque is very sensitive to the variation and disturbance of the input parameters. The proposed system can accurately estimate the instantaneous speed even at the low speed range by using the load torque observer based on the torque component of DC motor. The system becomes robust against disturbances using a feed-forward control of the load torque estimated automatically at the speed observer.

  • This paper is proposed to position and speed control of interior permanent magnet synchronous motor(IPMSM) drive without mechanical sensor. The rotor position, which is an essential component of any vector control schemes, is calculated through the instantaneous stator flux position and an estimated flux value of rotating reference frame. A closed-loop state observer is implemented to compute the speed feedback signal. The validity of the proposed sensorless scheme is confirmed by simulation and its dynamic performance is examined in detail.

  • A new scheme to estimate machine inertia in low speed is proposed in this paper. It is necessary to consider the machine parameter of low speed instantaneous observer to precise control in servo system, which has frequent load variation and speed change. To estimate machine parameter, especially the moment of inertia, Reduced-Order Extended Luenberger Observer (ROELO) is applied. The effectiveness of the proposed ROELO is showed by simulation.

  • This paper presents the sensorless control method that employs the adaptive back-EMF(Electromotive Force) and current model observer of interior permanent magnet synchronous motor(IPMSM). The estimated back EMF considering a saliency is obtained by using the adaptive control method. The estimated EMF is inputted to the current model observer which is connected in series with adaptive back EMF estimator and is used to estimate the position and speed of the rotor. In order to improve the shortcomings of conventional method using the current error components multiplied in the compensation constant, the modified instantaneous reactive power compensator is applied. The validity of the control system presented is verified by the simulation.

  • In this paper, an accurate position control using new estimator which estimates the instantaneous speed and accurate position with a low precision shaft encoder is proposed. The overall performance of position control system is strongly depend on the accuracy of the position information and the performance of the speed controller in low speed range. In this paper the position and speed of the motor are obtained from Kalman filter which is an optimal full order estimator. This estimator has good performance even in very low speed range include standstill. The simulation and experimental results confirm the validity of the proposed estimation and control scheme.

  • The mechanical informations such as the rotor speed and angle are required to operate the Cylindrical Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor(PMSM). A resolver or encoder is typically used to supply the mechanical informations. This position sensor adds length to the machine, raises system cost, increases rotor inertia and requires additional devices. As the result, there has been a significant interest in the development of sensorless strategies to eliminate the position sensor. This paper presents an implementation of the new sensorless speed comtrol scheme for a PMSM. To minimize the speed estimations error, the estimated speeds are compensated by using an instantaneous reactive power in synchronously rotating reference frame. In this paper, the proposed algorithm is not affected by mechanical motor parameters because the mechanical equation is not used. The effectiveness of algorithm is confirmed by the experiments.

  • This paper proposes a new anti-slip re-adhesion control system fur electric railway vehicle driven by inverter-fed induction motors. This paper introduces an instantaneous tangential farce coefficient estimator between driving wheel and rail, which is based on disturbance observer. The torque command of proposed system regulates to exceed this estimated tangential farce coefficient in order to avoid undesirable slip phenomenon of driving wheels. We have already proposed the anti-slip re-adhesion control system based on disturbance observer for simplified one wheel equivalent model successfully. This paper extend to this system to the actual bogie system, which has four driving wheels driven by two induction motors fed by one inverter. In order to apply anti-slip re-adhesion control to the actual bogie system a new anti-slip re-adhesion control based on both disturbance observer and speed sensor-less vector control of induction motor with quick response are combined. The experimental results and the numerical simulation results prove the validity of the proposed control system.
