A position control method for interpolating aspherical grinding and polishing tool path was reviewed and experimented in a nano precision machine. The position-base algorithm was reformed from the time-base algorithm, proposed in the previous study. The characteristics of the algorithm were in the velocity control loop with position feedback. The aspherical surface was divided by an interval at which each velocity and acceleration were calculated. The theoretical velocity was corrected by position error during processing. In the experiment, a machine was constructed and nano-scale linear encoders were installed at each axis. Relation between process parameters and the variation of position error was monitored and discussed. The best result from optimized parameters showed that the accuracy was 150nm and improved from the previous report.
Intelligent devices using ICT technology have been introduced in the field of construction machinery to improve productivity and stability. Among the intelligent devices, Machine Guidance is a device that provides real-time posture, location, and work range to drivers by installing various sensors, controllers, and satellite navigation systems on construction machines. Conversely, the efficiency of equipment that requires location information, such as machine guidance, will be greatly reduced in buildings, and tunnels in the GPS blind spots. Thus, the other high-precision positioning technologies are required in the GPS blind spot zone. In this study, we will develop a relative position measurement system that provides precise location information such as construction machinery and robots in a local area where the GPS reception is difficult. A relative position measurement system tracks a marker in the form of a sphere installed on a vehicle by using the image base tracking technology, and measures the distance and direction information to the marker to calculate a position.
In this paper, we propose a position estimation method of an entertainment robot in a performance stage. A position information is needed to produce contents of an entertainment robot performance. First, the performance stage is realized by a CD (cadmium sulfide) sensor matrix with a constant distance. Then the proposed position estimation uses ON/OFF information of a CD sensor in a performance stage. We confirmed that the position of the robot is detected with an maximum 4cm in position evaluation experiments. The robot was traveling to the final target position in the walking experiment with 75cm and 120cm path plan. Ultimately, the effectiveness of the proposed estimation is assessed by experimental results of a robot in performance stage. Also, in the proposed system installed by a robot performance contents, there is no necessity to mount a position estimation device on a robot; therefore an advantage of our system is that an entertainment robot commercialized by robot vendor can be utilized in our performance stage directly.
In the precedent study, the retractable-roof spatial structure was selected as the analytical model and a tuned mass damper (TMD) was installed to control the dynamic response for the earthquake loads. Also, it is analyzed that the installation location of TMD in the analytical model and the optimal number of installations. A single TMD mass installed in the analytical model was set up 1% of the mass of the whole structure, and the optimum installation location was derived according to the number of change. As a result, it was verified that most effective to install eight TMDs regardless of opening or closing. Thus, in this study, eight TMDs were installed in the retractable-roof spatial structure and the optimum mass ratio was inquired while reducing a single TMD. In addition, the optimum mass distribution ratio was identified by redistributing the TMD masses differently depending on the installation position, using the mass ratio of vibration control being the most effective for seismic load. From the analysis results, as it is possible to confirm the optimum mass distribution ratio according to the optimum mass ratio and installation location of the TMD in the the retractable-roof spatial structure, it can be used as a reference in the TMD design for large space structure.
This paper develops an AC motor controller for applications. The AC motor controller is designed based on the variable structure control method and a variable structure disturbance observer is added to reduce the effects of exogenous disturbances. The designed controller is installed on the z-axis of a CNC machining center and milling experiments were performed. The results show improved performance on both position and speed tracking, when compared to the factory-designed servo controller.
This paper is mainly concerned with the characteristics of precision stop on the automatic operating for the train car. Recently, the automatic operation of train car and the PSD establishment inside the subway are magnified. Consequently, the importance and necessity of characteristic of train car precision position stop are augmented. It researches the characteristic of precision position stop when the train car is operated with automatically and plans the safe operation of train car and the method of maintenance which is rational.
Field measurements were carried out in this study to investigate the behavior of cut and cover tunnel such as the distribution and the magnitude of the earth pressure during back fill process of the ground material. Three kinds of measuring instruments, such as the earth pressure load cell, the concrete strain gauge and the reinforcing bar meter of embedded type in concrete structure were installed and measured. Earth pressure load cells, installed after construction of the tunnel lining, measure the outside forces acting on the tunnel lining with radial directions. Three load cells were installed at the crown, the right and the left shoulder of the tunnel, respectively. Three sets of reinforcing bar meter were installed in the double reinforcements of the tunnel lining and their locations were the same with the position of the earth pressure load cells. Concrete strain gauge was installed only one site of the upper compressive part at the tunnel crown. Based on the measuring results in the field, the deformation and the earth pressure acting on the tunnel lining were investigated with the back fill process of the ground material. Considerations on the validity of the measuring results were paid. For the analysis of measurements, after dividing back fill process into three steps, various factors which affect on the behavior of tunnel lining were investigated at each step.
This paper is concerned with the implementation of auto-tuning positive position feedback controller using a digital signal processor and microcontroller. The main advantage of the positive position feedback controller is that it can control a natural mode of interest by tuning the filter frequency of the positive position feedback controller to the natural frequency of the target mode. However, the positive position feedback controller loses its advantage when mistuned. In this paper, the fast fourier transform algorithm is implemented on the microcontroller whereas the positive position feedback controller is implemented on the digital signal processor. After calculating the frequency which affects the vibrations of structure most, the result is transferred to the digital signal processor. The digital signal processor updates the information on the frequency to be controlled so that it can cope with both internal and external changes. The proposed scheme was installed and tested using a beam equipped with piezoceramic sensor and actuator. The experimental results show that the auto-tuning positive position feedback controller proposed in this paper can suppress vibrations even when the target structure undergoes structural change thus validating the approach.
This paper proposes a new position compensation method for misaligned Hall-effect sensors of BLDCM(Brushless DC Motor). If the Hall-effect sensors are installed at wrong position, the exact rotor position cannot be obtained. Therefore, when the BLDCM is controlled with this wrong position, the torque ripple can be increased and the average torque also decreases. The back-EMF of BLDCM can be obtained by using the voltage equation and by multiplying the back-EMF constant and rotor speed. At a constant speed, the estimated back-EMF by using the multiplication of the back-EMF constant and rotor speed is constant, but the estimated back-EMF from the voltage equation decreases at the commutation point because the line-to-line back-EMF of two conducting phases is start to decrease at this point. Therefore, by using the difference between these two estimated back-EMFs, the commutation point of the phase current can be determined and position compensation can be carried out. The proposed position correction method doesn't require additional hardware circuit and can be easily implemented. The validity of the proposed position compensation method is verified through several experiments.
There has been requested to automate the welding process in shipyard due to its dependence on skilled operators and the inferior working environments. According to these demands, multiple robot welding system for sub-assembly welding line has been developed, realized and installed at Keoje Shipyard. In order to realize automatic welding system, robots have to be equipped with the sensing system to recognize the position of the welding panels. In this research, a camera vision system is developed to detect the position of base panels for subassembly line in shipbuilding. Two camera vision systems are used in two different stages (Mounting and Welding) to automate the recognition and positioning of welding lines. For automatic recognition of panel position, various image processing algorithms are proposed in this paper.
