A Design and Case Study of a K-Stage BLU Inspection System for Achieving a Target Defective Rate

  • In this paper, we address a design problem and a case study of a K-stage back-light-unit(BLU) inspection system, which is composed of K stages, each of which includes an inspection process and a rework process. Assuming the type I, II errors and the inspection-free policy for items classified as good, we determine the smallest integer of K which can achieve a given target defective rate. If K does not exist, holding the current values of the type I, II errors, we search reversely the defective rate of an assembly line and the defective rate of a rework process, to meet the target defective rate. Our formulae and methodology based on a K-stage inspection system could be applied and extended to similar situations with slight modification.

  • 산업현장에서는 품질검사 과정 중의 잘못된 불량판정을 감소시키기 위하여, 각 제품단위에 대하여 불량판정이 나왔을 경우 복수의 검사를 반복하여 수행하는 경우가 있다. 본 논문은 총 두 번까지의 연속된 검사를 허용하는 품질검사 프로세스에 대한 분석을 다루고 있다. 본 논문에서는 제품검사의 단계와 품질판정 상태를 모델링하는 수학적 도구로서 마르코프 체인이 사용되었다. 그리고 산업체의 생산관리 시스템에서 수집된 불량 판정률을 마르코프 체인 모델의 데이터로 사용하였다. 또한 본 논문은 제품의 품질 특성 별 최종 비율과 제품의 폐기율에 대한 이러한 연속적인 이중검사 허용 프로세스의 영향에 대하여 분석을 수행하였다. 분석 결과, 연속이중검사 허용이 정상 제품에 대한 불량판정을 줄이며, 그 결과 재료, 노동 및 기타 비용을 줄이는 데 기여할 수 있다는 것을 확인하였다

  • This paper addresses the effects of an imperfect production process on the optimal production quantity and quality inspection policies. The system is assumed to deteriorate during the production process. The results are either defective products or machine breakdown whether multiple quality inspection is worth or not. Furthermore, when multiple inspection policy is adopted, the optimal inspection schedule is shown to be equally spaced throughout the production cycle. Exact solution and approximation of the optimal production quantity and approximation of the optimal number of inspection are provided. Finally, to better understand the model of this paper, comparisons between this model and classical EMQ model are provided.

Optimal Inspection Period for the System Subject to Random Shocks

  • A system subject to random shocks is considered. The shocks arrive according to a Poisson process and the amount of each shock is exponentially distributed. In this paper, a periodic inspection policy for the system is compared with a random inspection policy. After assigning several maintenance costs to the system, we calculate and compare the long-run average costs per unit time under two policies.

  • This study is to implement automatic inspection system of motor body panel by visual system. since it is inefficient to examine adhesion condition of components with the naked eye, image processing algorithm is presented to replace the existing manual inspection process with an automatic inspection process the developed automatic inspection system presents tile examination method of the adhesion condition of components with a pixed camera, which leads to an increase of the productivity and a reduction of manufacturing cost

  • If any of the set parameters such as the environment temperature, mold temperature are not maintained at a consistent level, the fail rate of injection molding products is increased. The price of the injection molding machine is very high, so in order to maximize the utilization of the machine that is required the production of a number of different products with minimum fail rate using a single machine. To prevent the defect products by an inspection process with perfect quality is very important to minimizing production of defect products in the molding process. Vision inspection systems are widely utilized in various manufacturing industries for quality assurance purposes. The vision inspection system consists of CCD camera and lighting system to capture the image of the subject of inspection, an image comparison algorithm using to determine the pass/fail of the products, and mechanical devices for the operation of the whole system. This research focuses on the development of the vision inspection system to process the inspection of an automobile parts. We developed a mechanical devices for the inspection of the injection molding products and an image comparison algorithm to determine the pass/fail result of the inspection based on the molding image and the accepted product image.

  • This paper presents the development of the Inspection machine for SMD mounted on cream solder of PCB. There are mounting errors of SMD such as misalignment, missing part, wrong orientation, wrong polarity and so on. The main hardware of the system consists of a machine vision part and a motion control part. Operating software has been developed in GUI environment to help user convenience. The Inspection Jobs consist of two procedures, that is, creation of the inspection reference data and automatic inspection. The Inspection reference data has a tree structure of linked list including PCB information, blocks, components, windows, and inspection methods. This paper presents versatile inspection methods which include a section length method, a projection method and histogram method. Therefore, user can choose the suitable procedure for various components. Finally, the automatic Inspection procedure using the reference data checks the mounting errors of components.

  • A rule-based CAPP(computer aided process planning) system is proposed in this research to develop integrated manufacturing process of machining and inspection using OMM(On-Machine Measurement) device. Generally workpiece composed of many primitive form features.   • This paper considers the problem of selecting the most profitable process mean for production processes where measurement errors exist in inspection systems. For such situations, a sequential inspection procedure is proposed to reduce measurement errors. The decision to accept, reject, or take an additional inspection of an item is made at every measurement point until the number of repeated measurements reaches its upper bound. An expected profit model is constructed and the optimal process mean, the cut-off values, and the upper bound of the number of repeated measurements are obtained when accepted(rejected) items are sold at regular(reduced) price. A numerical study is performed to investigate the performance of the proposed procedure.

제조생산공정의 경제적 샘플링 검사방식 설계 (A Design of Sampling Inspection Plan for Single Manufacturing Production Process)

  • In this study, a traditional concept of sampling inspection plan for the quality assurance system is extended to a consideration of economic aspects in total production system by representing and analyzing the effects between proceding/succeeding production process including inspection. This approach recognizes that the decision to be made at one manufacturing process (or assembly process) determine not only the cost and the average outgoing quality level of that process but also the input parameters of the cost and the incoming quality to the succeeding process. By analyzing the effects of the average incoming and outgoing quality, manufacturing/assembly quality level and sampling inspection plan on the production system, mathematical models and solution technique to minimize the total production cost for a single product manufacturing system with specified average outgoing quality limit (AOQL) are suggested.
