  • Current leakage of industrial technologies with revealing state secret against nation is gradually increasing and scope of the spill is diversified from technology-oriented leakage to new economic security sector like information and communication, electrical and electronic, defense industry, illegal export of strategic material, economic order disturbance by foreign country, infringement of intellectual property, etc. So the spill damage can affect not only leaked company but also national interests and entire domestic industry. According to statistics from National Industrial Security Center of National Intelligence Service, a major cause of technology leakage is not only by external things about hacking and malignant code, but internal leakage of former and current employees account for about 80%. And technology leakage due to temptation of money and personal interests followed by technology leakage of subcontractor is steadily increased. Most studies in the field of security have tended to focus on measuring security capability of company in order to prevent leakage core assets or developing measurement Indicators for management rather than security activities of the company members that is most important. Therefore, this study analyzes the effect of most underlying security education in security activities on security capabilities of enterprise. As a result, it indicates that security education have a positive(+) correlation with security capabilities.

  • The leakage of sensitive information by an insider within the organization becomes a serious threat nowadays. Sometimes, these insider threats are more harmful to an organization than external attack. Companies cannot afford to continue ignoring the potential of insider attacks. The purpose of this study is to design an integrated log analysis system that can detect various types of information leakages. The system uses threat rules generated through risk analysis, and monitors every aspect of the online activities of authorized insider. Not only should system have the ability to identify abnormal behavior, they should also be able to predict and even help to prevent potential risk. The system is composed of three modules, which are log collector, log analyzer and report generator.

  • After realizing through the three large-scale data leakage incidents that intentional or accidental insider jobs are more serious than external intrusions, financial companies in Korea have been taking measures to prevent data leakage from occuring again. But, the IT system architecture reflecting the domestic financial environment is highly complicated and thereby difficult to grasp. It is obvious that despite administrative, physical, and technical controls, insider threats are likely to cause personal data leakage. In this paper, we present a process that based on metadata defines and manages personally identifiable attribute data, and that through inter-table integration identifies personal information broadly and controls access. This process is to decrease the likelihood of violating compliance outlined by the financial supervisory authority, and to reinforce internal controls. We derive and verify a decision-making model that reflects the proposed process.

  • Knowledge management system building knowledge acquisition, knowledge share, and knowledge maintenance for the member of corporation is expanded throughout whole industry to cope with rapid business environment. Electronic document basing knowledge management system can copy, print, and transfer knowledge to another party, so it is being regarded as a essential infrastructure to share knowledge. However, considering most of information leakage is sprung up by insider of organization, it is considered to provide countermeasure to protect illegal use from information leakage. The purpose of this paper is to establish digital information security system through design of document and manage digital information assets safely through electronic document security system protecting illegal leakage of digital information assets.

  • Most of security countermeasures have been implemented to cope with continuous increase leakage of technology, but almost security countermeasures are focused on securing the boundary between inside and outside. This is effective for detecting and responding to attacks from the outside, but it is vulnerable to internal security incidents. In order to prevent internal leakage effectively, this study identifies activities corresponding to technology leakage activities and designes technology leakage activity detection items. As a design method, we analyzed the existing technology leakage detection methods based on the previous research and analyzed the technology leakage cases from the viewpoint of technology leakage activities. Through the statistical analysis, the items of detection of the technology leakage outcomes were verified to be appropriate, valid and reliable. Based on the results of this study, it is expected that it will be a basis for designing the technology leaking scenarios based on future research and leaking experiences.

  • Awareness that smartphones can be used as tools for criminal activity is prevalent in many organizations, but the functionally smartphone-like smartwatch's potential as a criminal tool is being overlooked. Considering this situation, this research verifies the possibility of information leakage through an insider's smartwatch in a situation where smartphones are controlled by security regulations and technologies, but smart watch are not. By analyzing information related application usage and Wi-Fi connection generated in the smartwatch during the verification process, forensic information and limitations are identified. Finally, this research proposes preventive methods to prepare for potential smartwatch-related crimes, and reconsiders awareness of the possibility of using smartwatches as criminal tools.

  • There have been various techniques to detect and control document leakage; however, most techniques concentrate on document leakage by outsiders. There are rare techniques to detect and monitor document leakage by insiders. In this study, we observe user's document reading behavior to detect and control document leakage by insiders. We make each user's document reading patterns from attributes gathered by a logger program running on Microsoft Word, and then we apply the proposed system to help determine whether a current user who is reading a document matches the true user. We expect that our system based on document reading behavior can effectively prevent document leakage.

  • Owing to the convergence of the communication network with the control system and public network, security threats, such as information leakage and falsification, have become possible through various routes. If we examine closely at the security type of the current control system, the operation of the security system focuses on the threats made from outside to inside, so the study on the detection system of the security threats conducted by insiders is inadequate. Thus, this study, based on "Spotting the Adversary with Windows Event Log Monitoring," published by the National Security Agency, found that event logs can be utilized for the detection and maneuver of threats conducted by insiders, by analyzing the validity of detecting insider threats to the control system with the list of important event logs.
