In the offshore crane system, the requirements on the operating safety are extremely high due to many external factors. This paper describes a model for studying the dynamic behavior of the offshore crane system. The obtained model allows to evaluate the fluctuations of the load arising from the elasticity of the rope. Especially, in this paper, the authors design control system in which just winch rotation angle and rope tension are used without load position information. The controller design based on input-output feedback linearization theory is presented which can handle the effect of the elasticity of the rope and track the load target trajectory input. Besides that, a full order observer is designed to estimate unknown states. Finally, By the experiment results, the effectiveness of proposed control method is evaluated and verified.

This paper describes a novel Direct Torque Control (DTC) method for adjustable speed Doubly-Fed Induction Machine (DFIM) drives which is supplied by a two-level Space Vector Modulation (SVM) voltage source inverter (DTC-SVM) in the rotor circuit. The inverter reference voltage vector is obtained by using input-output feedback linearization control and a DFIM model in the stator a-b axes reference frame with stator currents and rotor fluxes as state variables. Moreover, to make this nonlinear controller stable and robust to most varying electrical parameter uncertainties, a two layer recurrent Artificial Neural Network (ANN) is used to estimate a certain function which shows the machine lumped uncertainty. The overall system stability is proved by the Lyapunov theorem. It is shown that the torque and flux tracking errors as well as the updated weights of the ANN are uniformly ultimately bounded. Finally, effectiveness of the proposed control approach is shown by computer simulation results.

In this paper, we assume that an output sensor of a ball and beam system is coupled with AC measurement noise. We propose an output feedback controller for a ball and beam system under measurement noise of feedback sensor. Measurement noise makes feedback signals distorted, and results in performance degradation or even system failure. Therefore, we need to design a robust controller to accommodate the possible measurement noise in the feedback information. Our controller is equipped with a gain-scaling factor to minimize the effect of measurement noise in output feedback information. We give an analysis of the controlled system and illustrate the improved control performance via simulation and experiment for a ball and beam system.
Many nonlinear controllers for the power system are based on nonlinear models involving the power angle as an element of the state, and therefore the reference value for the power angle is needed. As this reference value is not generally available, it is difficult to apply such nonlinear control methods in practice. To deal with this problem, we present an input-output feedback linearizing control scheme by selecting the output as a combination of the squared voltage and the relative frequency. It is shown that the internal dynamics are locally stable with controllable damping, and that the frequency remains bounded for all time. Simulations illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed method.

In this paper, we apply the input-output linearization technique to tracking the follow-up trajectory r(t) in the ball-beam system. There exist system disturbance and various uncertainties, the conventional input-output linearization based control yields some noticeable errors in tracking performance. As a result, a new robust control technique for the uncertainty of the system was proposed and its improved performance verified through simulation and experimental results. So, more realistic system model is obtained with unmatched uncertainties and disturbance. Then, in order to improve the control performance, a new optimal bang-bang control input is additionally added.
As in most industrial processes, the dynamic characteristics of an electric power system are subject to changes. Amongst those effects which cause the system to be uncertain, faults on transmission lines are considered. For the stabilization of the power system, we present an indirect adaptive control method, which is capable of tracking a sudden change in the effective reactance of a transmission line. As the plant dynamics are nonlinear, an input-output feedback linearization method equipped with nonlinear damping terms is combined with an identification algorithm which estimates the effect of a fault. The stability of the resulting adaptive nonlinear system is investigated.

In this paper, robust stability analysis for the fuzzy feedback linearization regulator is presented. Well-known Takagi-Sugeno fuzzy model is used as the MISO nonlinear plant model. Uncertainty and disturbance are assumed to be included in the model structure with known bounds. For these structured uncertainty and disturbances, robust stability of the close system is analyzed in both input-output sense and Lyapunov sense. The robust stability conditions are proposed by using multivariable circle criterion and the relationship between input-output stability and Lyapunov stability. The proposed stability analysis is illustrated by a simple example.
A nonlinear controller based on feedback linearization method is proposed for an electromagnetic suspension system. After exactly linearizing the system with nonlinear feedback, linear control technique is applied. Modeling of stagger typed magnet is introduced and controlled for not only levitation, but guidance. By the feedback linearization, the nonlinear, MIMO system is linearized and decoupled, so we can use linear control law. The simulation of this system control skim is demonstrated. Robustness properties of the proposed controller with respect to the load variations and external disturbance is also analyzed for a multi input multi output system. In this properties, the boundary of variation is proposed.
Direct torque control (DTC) of induction machines (IM) is a well-known strategy of these drives control which has a fast dynamic and a good tracking response. In this paper a nonlinear DTC of speed sensorless IM drives is presented which is based on input-output feedback linearization control theory. The IM model includes iron losses using a speed dependent shunt resistance which is determined through some effective experiments. A stator flux vector is estimated through a simple integrator based on stator voltage equations in the stationary frame. A novel method is introduced for DC offset compensation which is a major problem of AC machines, especially at low speeds. Rotor speed is also determined using a rotor flux sliding-mode (SM) observer which is capable of rotor flux space vector and rotor speed simultaneous estimation. In addition, stator and rotor resistances are estimated using a simple but effective recursive least squares (RLS) method combined with the so-called SM observer. The proposed control idea is experimentally implemented in real time using a FPGA board synchronized with a personal computer (PC). Simulation and experimental results are presented to show the capability and validity of the proposed control method.
