Development of Global Function Approximations of Desgin optimization Using Evolutionary Fuzzy Modeling

  • This paper introduces the application of evolutionary fuzzy modeling (EFM) in constructing global function approximations to subsequent use in non-gradient based optimizations strategies. The fuzzy logic is employed for express the relationship between input training pattern in form of linguistic fuzzy rules. EFM is used to determine the optimal values of membership function parameters by adapting fuzzy rules available. In the study, genetic algorithms (GA's) treat a set of membership function parameters as design variables and evolve them until the mean square error between defuzzified outputs and actual target values are minimized. We also discuss the enhanced accuracy of function approximations, comparing with traditional response surface methods by using polynomial interpolation and back propagation neural networks in its ability to handle the typical benchmark problems.

  • It is very difficult to partially describe the hull shape made up of 3-dimensional free form surface. With computerizing skill in ship design, the geometric modeling technique has been developed. In hull shape modeling, the blending technique has not yet been adapted to the hull shape surface has a variable curvature. By adapting the blend surface, small surface on drawing plane is to be softly blended with given hull surface and a projecting part. This study has adapted to the ship design one of the blending methods by which offsets data of the blend surface can be obtained by the input of blend radius on two base surfaces.

Effects of Emission from Seoul Metropolitan Area on Air Quality of Surrounding Area Using MESOPUFF II Model (MESOPUFF II모델을 이용한 서울시 $SO_2$배출량이 주변지역 대기질에 미치는 영향 분석)

  • To study the influences of the emission sources during lune 13∼15 1997 in Seoul, MESOPVFF II model has been used. The MESOPVFF II model includes terrain effects, chemical transformation and removal processes. Data of 20 surface meteorological stations and the upper air station on mid-west area in Korea were used as a DWM (Diagnostic Wind Model) input data. This model is likely to be applicable because the predicted SO2 concentration was well matched with measured 502 concentration in Seoul and Kyonggido. In generally air pollutants in Seoul have major influence on the other cities but the result of modeling appeared also air pollutants of the other cities influence on Seoul. Finally, in the case of calculating the air quality by diffusion model, the influences of air pollutants emitted in metropolitan area as well as the emission rate in modeling area should be considered.

  • In this paper, a self-learning fuzzy controller is designed with a fuzzy approximation of an inverse model. The aim of an identification is to find an input command which is control of a system output. It is intuitional and easy to use a classical adaptive inverse modeling method for the identification, but it is difficult and complex to implement it. This problem can be solved with a fuzzy approximation of an inverse modeling. The fuzzy logic effectively represents the complex phenomena of the real world. Also fuzzy system could be represented by the neural network that is useful for a learning structure. The rule of a fuzzy inverse model is modified by the gradient descent method. The goal is to be obtained that makes the design of fuzzy controller less complex, and then this self-learning fuzz controller can be used for nonlinear dynamic system. We have applied this scheme to a nonlinear Ball and Beam system.

  • We propose a novel neuro-fuzzy system based on an efficient clustering method. It is a very useful method that improves the performance of a fuzzy model with small number of fuzzy rules. The fuzzy clustering methods are studied in the wide range of fuzzy modeling. One of them, the grid partition method has problem of exponentially increasing number of rules when the dimension of input or number of membership function is linearly increased. On the other hand, the Expectation Maximization algorithm is an efficient estimation for unknown parameters of the Gaussian mixture model.   • The advancement in semiconductor technology is leading toward smaller critical dimension designs and larger wafer manufactures. Due to such phenomena, semiconductor industry is in need of an accurate control of the process. Photolithography is one of the key processes where the pattern of each layer is formed. In this process, precise superposition of the current layer to the previous layer is critical. Therefore overlay parameters of the semiconductor photolithography process is targeted for this research. The complex relationship among the input parameters and the output metrologies is difficult to understand and harder yet to model. Because of the superiority in modeling multi-nonlinear relationships, neural networks is used for the simulator modeling. For training the neural networks, conjugate gradient method is employed. An experiment is performed to evaluate the performance among the proposed neural network simulator, stepwise regression model, and the currently practiced prediction model from the test site.

  • A diagnostic system has been developed which reports modeling errors generated when exchanging CAD data using IGES (Initial Graphics Exchange Specification) format. The system determines whether the CAD data contains errors. It also helps to define the criteria for determining the integrity and interoperability of CAD data with downstream applications of another CAD/CAM/CAE/PDM systems. The methodology of our algorithms is to analyze IGES model data by identifying errors and anomalies with respect to the diagnosis of geometry and topology. The GUI (Graphic User Interface) of the developed system helps users to input values and to visualize diagnostic results at real time.

  • This paper deals with d-q axis inductance measurements of IPMSM considering core loss at low speed. d-q axis inductance measurements generally are conducted at rated speed and parallel core loss model can be used to exclude core loss effects on inductances. Core loss is generally modeled parallel to input terminal of d-q axis equivalent circuit. Therefore, the effect of core loss on inductance calculation can be varied by core loss modeling. In this paper, d-q axis inductance is calculated parallel and series core loss modeling. Calculated inductances are compared to FEA results and it is concluded that series core loss modeling is more closed to FEA results at low speed.

  • In this paper, dynamics modeling of a PEMFC is performed by electro-chemical equations. The developed PEMFC simulation model is implemented using MATLAB Simulink in order to design an optimal PCS for fuel cell systems. In addition, by use of the developed model as an input source of PCS, the validity of the proposed dynamic characteristic model of the PEMFC is verified by various simulation and experimental results.

  • In this paper, for modeling of electrical characteristics in Poly Silicon Thin Film Transistors with process parameters set up optimum values, So, the I-V characteristics of poly silicon TFT parameters are examined and simulated in terms of the variations in process parameter. And these results compared and analyzed simulation values with examination value. The simulation program for characteristic analysis used SUPREM IV for processing, Matlab for modeling by mathematics, and SPICE for electric characteristic of devices. Input parameter for simulation characteristics is like condition of device process sequence, these electric characteristic of $I_D-V_D$ $I_D-V_G$, variations of grain size. The Gate oxide thickness of poly silicon are showed similar results between real device characteristics and simulation characteristics.
