Metaheuristic optimization approach has become the new framework for control synthesis. The main purposes of the control design are command (input) tracking and load (disturbance) regulating. This article proposes an optimal proportional-integral-derivative (PID) controller design for the DC motor speed control system with tracking and regulating constrained optimization by using the cuckoo search (CS), one of the most efficient population-based metaheuristic optimization techniques. The sum-squared error between the referent input and the controlled output is set as the objective function to be minimized. The rise time, the maximum overshoot, settling time and steady-state error are set as inequality constraints for tracking purpose, while the regulating time and the maximum overshoot of load regulation are set as inequality constraints for regulating purpose. Results obtained by the CS will be compared with those obtained by the conventional design method named Ziegler-Nichols (Z-N) tuning rules. From simulation results, it was found that the Z-N provides an impractical PID controller with very high gains, whereas the CS gives an optimal PID controller for DC motor speed control system satisfying the preset tracking and regulating constraints. In addition, the simulation results are confirmed by the experimental ones from the DC motor speed control system developed by analog technology.

Training neural networks is a complex task with great importance in the field of supervised learning. In the training process, a set of input-output patterns is repeated to an artificial neural network (ANN). From those patterns weights of all the interconnections between neurons are adjusted until the specified input yields the desired output. In this paper, a new hybrid algorithm is proposed for global optimization of connection weights in an ANN. Dynamic swarms are shown to converge rapidly during the initial stages of a global search, but around the global optimum, the search process becomes very slow. In contrast, the gradient descent method can achieve faster convergence speed around the global optimum, and at the same time, the convergence accuracy can be relatively high. Therefore, the proposed hybrid algorithm combines the dynamic particle swarm optimization (DPSO) algorithm with the backpropagation (BP) algorithm, also referred to as the DPSO-BP algorithm, to train the weights of an ANN. In this paper, we intend to show the superiority (time performance and quality of solution) of the proposed hybrid algorithm (DPSO-BP) over other more standard algorithms in neural network training. The algorithms are compared using two different datasets, and the results are simulated.
Evolutionary design related to the optimal design of Polynomial Neural Networks (PNNs) structure for model identification of complex and nonlinear system is studied in this paper. The PNN structure is consisted of layers and nodes like conventional neural networks but is not fixed and can be changable according to the system environments. three types of polynomials such as linear, quadratic, and modified quadratic is used in each node that is connected with various kinds of multi-variable inputs. Inputs and order of polynomials in each node are very important element for the performance of model. In most cases these factors are decided by the background information and trial and error of designer. For the high reliability and good performance of the PNN, the factors must be decided according to a logical and systematic way. In the paper evolutionary algorithm is applied to choose the optimal input variables and order. Evolutionary (genetic) algorithm is a random search optimization technique. The evolved PNN with optimally chosen input variables and order is not fixed in advance but becomes fully optimized automatically during the identification process. Gas furnace and pH neutralization processes are used in conventional PNN version are modeled. It shows that the designed PNN architecture with evolutionary structure optimization can produce the model with higher accuracy than previous PNN and other works.
Turning, a main machining process, is a widespread process in metal cutting industries. Many researchers have investigated the effects of process parameters on the machining process. In the turning process, input variables including cutting speed, feed, and depth of cut are generally used. Surface roughness and electric current consumption are used as output variables in this study. We construct a simulation model for the turning process using a neural network, which predicts the output values based on input values. In the neural network, obtaining the appropriate set of weights, which is called training, is crucial. In general, back propagation (BP) is widely used for training. In this study, techniques such as ant colony optimization (ACO) and particle swarm optimization (PSO) as well as BP were used to obtain the weights in the neural network. Particularly, two combined techniques of ACO_BP and PSO_BP were utilized for training the neural network. Finally, the performances of the two techniques are compared with each other.

Reconfigurable Intelligent Surface (RIS) is an innovative technique to precisely control the phase of incident signals with the help of low-cost passive reflective elements. It shows excellent potential in the sixth generation of mobile communication systems, which not only extends wireless coverage but also boosts channel capacity. Considering that multipath propagation and a high number of antennas are involved in RIS in assisted mega multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) systems, it suffers from severe channel fading and multipath effects, which in turn lead to signal instability and degradation of transmission performance. To overcome this obstacle, this essay suggests an improved gradient optimization algorithm to dynamically and optimally adjust the phase of the reflective elements to counteract channel fading and multipath effects as a strategy. In order to overcome the optimization problem of falling into local minima, this paper proposes an adaptive learning rate algorithm based on Adagrad improvement, which searches for the global optimal solution more efficiently and improves the robustness of the optimization algorithm. The suggested technique helps to enhance the estimate of channel efficiency of RIS-assisted large MIMO systems, according to simulation results.

In this study, we propose a space search algorithm (SSA) and then introduce a hybrid optimization of fuzzy inference systems based on SSA and information granulation (IG). In comparison with "conventional" evolutionary algorithms (such as PSO), SSA leads no.t only to better search performance to find global optimization but is also more computationally effective when dealing with the optimization of the fuzzy models. In the hybrid optimization of fuzzy inference system, SSA is exploited to carry out the parametric optimization of the fuzzy model as well as to realize its structural optimization. IG realized with the aid of C-Means clustering helps determine the initial values of the apex parameters of the membership function of fuzzy model. The overall hybrid identification of fuzzy inference systems comes in the form of two optimization mechanisms: structure identification (such as the number of input variables to be used, a specific subset of input variables, the number of membership functions, and polyno.mial type) and parameter identification (viz. the apexes of membership function). The structure identification is developed by SSA and C-Means while the parameter estimation is realized via SSA and a standard least square method. The evaluation of the performance of the proposed model was carried out by using four representative numerical examples such as No.n-linear function, gas furnace, NO.x emission process data, and Mackey-Glass time series. A comparative study of SSA and PSO demonstrates that SSA leads to improved performance both in terms of the quality of the model and the computing time required. The proposed model is also contrasted with the quality of some "conventional" fuzzy models already encountered in the literature.
According as the latest printing technology is converted from analogue to digital, life cycle of a printing technology is shortened and the existent printing companies were faced always in a new technology. Specially, way of foreign countries export opened because globalization of printing market is accelerated. But, printing buyers of advanced nation require standard printing process control. fect at product process step. Emphasized in IPA technical conference for past several years tendency about graphic art color proofing and technical analysis and comparison going through Color Proofing RoundUP. These researchers have developed a color management technology. A specially developed printing technology and reference characterization data brought certain high quality elevation in a graphic art proofing technology. When excessive GCR method application supervise printing, width of color conversion necks by requiring a lot of color conversions than proofing. But, these point is lacking relatively than a lot of effects that GCR gives. Therefore, correct interests of GCR algorithm and verification step to forecast beforehand result about actuality application are positively necessary. Therefore, this research forced into input file which is applied with different levels from input to print for printing optimization that consider standard printing with eco-friendly by method to solve these problem. And experimented using manuscript who GCR level is applied as is different in each field, and analyzed the result. Also, it is verification method by step to last printing from input file that solve been the various quality who generate in actuality field through these analysis result. ICC color management confirmed printing optimization process applying GCR algorithm improved to base.
Optimized BMP plans for controlling water quality using the Pareto trade-off surface curve in upper basin of Namgang Dam is proposed. The proposed alternatives consist of BMP installation scenarios in which the reduction efficiency of non-point pollutants is maximized in a given budget. The multi-objective optimization process for determining the optimal alternatives was performed without direct implementation of a watershed model such as SWAT analysis, thereby reducing the time taken. The shortening of the calculation time further enhances the applicability of the multi-objective optimization technique in preparing regional water quality management alternatives. In this study, different types of BMP are applied depending on the land use conditions. Fertilizer input control and vegetative filter strip are considered as alternatives to applying BMP to the field but only control of fertilizer input can be applied to rice paddies. Fertilizer input control and vegetative filter strip can be installed separately or simultaneously in a hydrologic response unit. Finally, 175 BMP application alternatives were developed for the water quality management of the upper river basin of Namgang dam. The proposed application alternative can be displayed on the map, which has the advantage of clearly defining the BMP installation location.
In this study, we chose a flat die to optimize a general die geometry. The optimization was aimed at obtaining a uniform velocity distribution across the exit of the die. For the optimization, the input and output design parameters were randomly computed, and response surfaces were generated to obtain statistical data for the minimum and maximum sensitivities computed during optimization. Subsequently, object functions with constraints were numerically computed to obtain the minimum errors in the velocity difference (i.e., variable "Outp" in this study). Finally, we obtained the candidate optimized dataset. Note that the current numerical computations were simultaneously conducted for an entire extruder, i.e., screw plus die. The numerical outlet velocity distributions in the modified die geometry tended to be much more uniform than the conventional distributions in the current optimization processes for this specific flat die.
