The effects of injector spacing s and injector diameter d on mixing are numerically investigated in supersonic combustor with perpendicular injection behind a backward-facing step. Simulations are reported for airstream Mach number of 2.4. Parameters are changed on following 4 cases to investigate the effects of injector configuration on mixing efficiency $\eta_m$. In the case of varying d or s, dynamic pressure ratio $Rq(=(pu^2)_j/(pu^2)_a)$ is also varied to keep bulk equivalence ratio $\Phi({\oe})Rq.d^2/s)$ constant. (l) Injector spacing s is varied at constant $\Phi$=0.5, 1, 2 for injector diameter d=6mm. In the case of $\Phi$=1, $\eta_m$ has its maximum value at s=24mm. The reason is that increase of $\eta_m$. , by widening spacing at Rq=constant competes with decrease of $\eta_m$ by increasing Rq at s=constant. When spacing is narrow, the flow field of vicinity of injector becomes two-dimensional because adjacent jets interferes each other. By widening spacing, air is easily entrained by three-dimensional effect. This mechanism also appears in the case of $\Phi$=0.5, 2 for d=6mm, and $\eta_m$. reaches its maximum value at s=24mm for $\Phi$=0.5 and at s=42mm for $\Phi$=2. (2) In the case of injector diameter d varied at $\Phi$=1 for s=30mm, $\eta_m$. has its maximum value at d=3mm. The reason is that decrease of $\eta_m$ by increasing injector diameter competes with increase of $\eta_m$ by decreasing Rq at d=constant.(3) In the case of s varied at $\Phi$=0.5, 1,2 for d=3mm, the injector spacing at which mixing efficiency has its maximum value is s= 18mm for $\Phi$=0.5, s=24mm for $\Phi$=1, s=24mm for $\Phi$=2. Therefore it is found that d=3mm and s=24mm can be optimum configuration over a range of $\Phi$=0.5~2.(4) The effect of h on the optimum spacing is investigated. s is varied for d=6mm at step height h=4, 6, 8mm. The simulation results do not show significant change on the step height.

Autonomous vehicles using V2X can drive safely information on areas outside the sensor coverage of autonomous vehicles conventional autonomous vehicles. As V2X technology has emerged as a key component of autonomous vehicles, research on V2X security is actively underway research on risk analysis due to failure of V2X communication is insufficient. In this paper, the service scenario and function of autonomous driving system V2X were derived by presenting the intersection scenario of the autonomous vehicle, the malfunction was defined by analyzing the hazard of V2X. he ISO26262 Part3 process was used to analyze the risk of malfunction of autonomous vehicle V2X. In addition, a fault injection scenario was presented to verify the fail-safe of the simulation-based intersection scenario.
The flow pattern at the inlet of the catalyst layer in a selective catalytic reduction (SCR) system is one of the key parameters influencing the performance of the denitrification process. In the curved diffusing parts between the ammonia injection grids and the catalyst layers, guide vanes are installed to improve flow uniformity. In the present study, a numerical simulation has been performed to investigate the effect of the geometrical configuration of the guide vanes on the aerodynamic characteristics of a denitrification facility. This application has been made to the existing SCR process in a large-scaled coal-fired power plant. The flow domain to be solved covers the whole region of the flow passages from the exit of the ammonia injection gun to the exit of the catalyst layers. ANSYS-Fluent was used to calculate the three-dimensional steady viscous flow fields with the proper turbulence model fitted to the flow characteristics. The root mean square of velocity and the pressure drop inside the flow passages were chosen as the key performance parameters. Four types of guides vanes were proposed to improve the flow quality compared to the current configuration. The numerical results showed that the type 4 configuration was the most effective at improving the aerodynamic performance in terms of flow uniformity and pressure loss.

The demand for high-voltage power devices is rising in various industries, but especially in the transportation industry due to autonomous driving and electric vehicles. IGBT module parts of 3.3 kV or more are used in the power propulsion control device of electric vehicles, and the procurement of these parts for new construction and maintenance is increasing every year. In addition, research to optimize high-voltage IGBT parts is urgently required to overcome their very high technology entry barrier. For the development of high-voltage IGBT devices over 3.3 kV, the resistivity range setting of the wafer and the optimal conditions for major unit processes are important variables. Among the manufacturing processes to secure the optimal junction depth, the optimization of the diffusion process, which is one step of the unit process, was examined. In the diffusion process, the type of gas injected, the injection time, and the injection temperature are the main variables. In this study, the range of wafer resistance (Ω cm) was set for the development of high voltage IGBT devices through unit process simulation. Additionally, the well drive in (WDR) condition optimization of the diffusion process according to temperature was studied. The junction depth was 7.4 to7.5 ㎛ for a ring pattern width of 23.5 to25.87 ㎛, which can be optimized for supporting 3.3 kV high voltage power devices.

In Korea, many water intake plants are easily affected by effluents of sewage treatment plants because sewage treatment plants are usually located upstream or nearby the plants of the same riverine area. Furthermore, the inflow of harmful contaminants owing to pollutant spills or transportation accidents of vehicles using the roads and bridges intersecting the river causes significant impact on the management of water intake plants. Paldang lake, the main water intake plants in Korea, is especially exposed to various water pollution accidents, because the drainage basin area is significantly large compared to the water surface area of the lake. Therefore it is necessary to predict the possible pollutant spill in advance and consider measurements in case of water pollution. In this study, water quality prediction was performed in Paldang Lake in Korea durig the dry season using two-dimensional numerical models. In order to represent the cases of pollutant accidents, the difference of pollutant transport patterns with varying injection points was analyzed. Numerical simulations for hydrodynamics of water flow and water quality predictions were performed using RMA-2 and RAM4 respectively. As a result of simulation, the difference of pollutant transport with the injection points was analyzed. As a countermeasure against the pollutant accident, the augmentation of the flow rate is proposed. In comparison with the present state, the rapid dilution and flushing effects on the pollutant cloud could be expected with increase of flow rate. Thus, increase of flow rate can be used for operation of water intake plants in case of pollutant spill accidents.

Aerodynamic forces and moments have been used to control rocket propelled vehicles. If control is required at very low speed, Those systems only provide a limited capability because aerodynamic control force is proportional to the air density and low dynamic pressure. But thrust vector control(TVC) can overcome the disadvantages. TVC is the method which generates the side force and roll moment by controlling exhausted gas directly in a rocket nozzle. TVC is classified by mechanical and fluid dynamic methods. Mechanical methods can change the flow direction by several objects installed in a rocket nozzle exhaust such as tapered ramp tabs and jet vane. Fluid dynamic methods control the flight direction with the injection of secondary gaseous flows into the rocket nozzle. The tapered ramp tabs of mechanical methods are used in this paper. They installed at the rear in the rocket nozzle could be freely moved along axial and radial direction on the mounting ring to provide the mass flow rate which is injected from the rocket nozzle. In this paper, the conceptual design and the performance study on the tapered ramp tabs of the thurst vector control has been carried out using the supersonic cold flow system and shadow graph. Numerical simulation was also performed to study flow characteristics and interactions between ramp tabs. This paper provides to analyze the location of normal shock wave and distribution of surface pressure on the region enclosed by the tapered ramp tabs.
In order to analyze thermal hydraulic phenomena during a DVI (Direct Vessel Injection) line break LOCA (Loss-of-Coolant Accident) in the APR1400 (Advanced Power Reactor 1400 MWe), we performed experimental studies with the SNUF (Seoul National University Facility), a reduced-height and reduce-pressure integral test loop with a scaled down APR1400. We performed experiments dealing with eight test cases under varied tests. As a result of the experiment, the primary system pressure, the coolant temperature, and the occurrence time of the downcomer seal clearing were affected significantly by the thermal power in the core and the SI flow rate. The break area played a dominant role in the vent of the steam. For our analytical investigation, we used the MARS code for simulation of the experiments to validate the calculation capability of the code. The results of the analysis showed good and sufficient agreement with the results of the experiment. However, the analysis revealed a weak capability in predicting the bypass flow of the SI water toward the broken DVI line, and it was insufficient to simulate the streamline contraction in the broken side. We, hence, need to improve the MARS code.
This study is a numerical study using commercial simulation program GT-Power on 1.5MW diesel engine for power generation. Performance comparison has done for diesel operation with dual fuel operation for different engine load(50%, 75%, 100%) using the target engine model with additional gas injection system. Effect of using Hi-sene, which is actually being used in island area, instead of diesel was also studied. As a result, under 60% natural gas with diesel condition, BSFC was increased by 32% without modifying system. There was almost no change for natural gas/Hi-sene condition compared with natural gas/diesel condition. Decrease of burned fuel fraction was the main reason of these phenomena. After optimizing system, BSFC was improved by 2%.
In this paper, we proposed the novel IGBT with an additional n-type MOS structure to achieve the improved trade-off between turn-off and on-state voltage drop(Vce(sat)). These low on-resistance and the fast switching characteristics of the proposed IGBT are caused by an enhanced electron current injection efficiency which is caused by additional n-type MOS structure. In the simulation result, the proposed IGBT has the lower on state voltage of 2.65V and the shorter turn-off time of 4.5us than those of the conventional IGBT(3.33V, 5us).

Single phase voltage source converter (VSC) is an important power electronic converter (PEC), including single-phase voltage source inverter (VSI), single-phase voltage source rectifier (VSR), single-phase active power filter (APF) and single-phase grid-connection inverter (GCI). As the fundamental part of large scale PECs, single-phase VSC has a wide range of applications. In the paper, as first, on the basis of the concept of the discontinuous pulse-width modulation (DPWM) for three-phase VSC, a new DPWM of single-phase VSR is presented by means of zero-sequence component injection. Then, the transformation from stationary frame (abc) to rotating frame (dq) is designed after reconstructing the other orthogonal current by means of one order all-pass filter. Finally, the presented DPWM based single-phase VSR is established analyzed and simulated by means of MATLAB/SIMULINK. In addition, the DPWMs presented by D. Grahame Holmes and Thomas Lipo are discussed and simulated in brief. Obviously, the presented DPWM can also be used for single-phase VSI, GCI and APF. The simulation results show the validation of the above modulation algorithm, and the DPWM based single-phase VSR has reduced power loss and increased efficiency.
