수지이동 성형공정에서 기공형성에 미치는 모세관압의 영향에 관한 실험적 연구 (An Experimental Study on the Effect of Capillary Pressure on the Void Formation in Resin Transfer Molding Process)

  • 수지이동 성형공정에서 섬유직조가 수지에 의해 함침될 때 발생하는 기공 또는 나쁜 젖음성은 최종 성형품의 물성 저하에 심각한 영향을 미치게 된다. 본 연구에서는 함침공정에서의 수지 유동특성을 파악하고 기공 형성기구를 규명하기 위하여, 빔 형태의 금형을 대상으로 실리콘 오일과 평직형태의 유리섬유를 사용하여 미시적인 유동가시화 실험을 수행하였다. 시간과 압력에 따른 수지의 침투길이를 측정함으로써 섬유직조의 기공률에 따른 비정상상태의 투과계수와 모세관압을 측정하였고, 낮은 조업압력과 낮은 기공률에서는 모세관압이 함침공정에서 중요한 가공변수임을 확인할 수 있었다. 비디오 카메라를 이용하여 유동전단면의 이동을 근접 확대 촬영하여 기공이 형성되는 과정을 미시적으로 관찰함으로써, 섬유와 수지의 표면에너지에 의해 발생되는 모세관압이 기공의 형성에 미치는 영향을 조사하였다. 그 결과, 수지충전을 유발하는 전체 구동압력에서 모세관압이 상대적으로 클수록 기공은 더욱 쉽게 생성되는 것으로 나타났다. 또한 수지의 점도와 섬유직조의 기공률이 각각 변화할 때, 모세관수에 따른 기공의 함량을 화상 해석 기법(image analysis technique)을 사용하여 정량적으로 측정하였다. 수지가 섬유직조 내로 함침될 때 임계모세관수(Ca~2.75$\times$$10^{-3})이상에서는 기공이 형성되지 않았으며, 그 이하에서는 모세관수가 감소함에 따라 기공의 함량이 지수적으로 증가하였다. 생성된 기공의 함량은 점도에 관계없이 유사한 변화 경향을 보였으며, 모세관수가 동일한 조건에서는, 기공률이 감소함에 따라 기공의 함량이 감소하였다.

  • The cooling unit of the industrial showcase consists of a compressor, a condenser and an evaporator. An axial fan is used to circulate the air to improve the efficiency of the heat exchanger. In the past, aluminum fans have been used, which have problems such as low performance, efficiency, high failure rate, and high noise. This study is to develop high performance, high efficiency plastic fan replacing aluminum fan. A major factor in determining the performance and noise of an axial fan is the angle and cross-sectional shape of the blade, which is suitable for raising the lift force, thereby controlling the vortex, which is the main cause of noise and performance degradation. In order to produce a high efficiency injection molded fan, it is necessary to develop a mold that minimizes the deformation of the injection process for the designed shape. In this study, we developed a high efficiency, low noise plastic injection fan with more than 11% performance improvement and noise reduction compared to conventional aluminum fan.

주물공정 악취·분진 동시 처리를 위한 여과 집진장치 개발연구 (Simultaneous Removal of TVOC and Particulate Matters Using Rectangular Bag-Filter System with for a Foundry)

  • Foundry has an important economic value in the industry. However, the generation of air pollutants like particulate and odor are serious. Due to the unavoidable usage of molding sand, particulate occurs in almost all the processes. That accounts for the majority of respirable dust in the size less than $10{\mu}m$ As well as particulate, over 22 species of odor-causing gases and VOCs including hydrogen sulfide and ammonia are occurred. Therefore, the development of equipment that can simultaneously remove TVOC and particulate is regarded as an essential research. In this study, the spraying absorbent system was connected with the shear bag filter for the purpose to remove TVOC and particulate simultaneously. Maximization of process efficiency for the affective factors like the powder combination and injection method is conducted. The experiment was performed at the de-molding process of one foundry plant. Through these devices, the removal efficiency of more than 95% for TVOC was achieved with the absorbent that composed by 800 mesh Activated carbon (80%) and 300 mesh zeolite (20%). Also, the durability and economic evaluation were assessed. In the result of Durability assessment, the available recovery to maintain the deodorizing effect at 90% was counted to 350 degree.

연속마이크로렌즈 200μm 적용 7인치 LCD-BLU 금형개발 (A Study on the Fabrication Method of Mold for 7 inch LCD-BLU by continuous microlens 200μm)

  • LCD-BLU is one of kernel parts of LCD and it consists of several optical sheets: LGP, light source and mold frame. The LGP of LCD-BLU is usually manufactured by etching process and forming numerous dots with $50\sim300{\mu}m$ diameter on the surface. But the surface of the etched dots of LGP is very rough due to the characteristics of the etching process during the mold fabrication, so that its light loss is high along with the dispersion of light into the surface. Accordingly, there is a limit in raising the luminance of LCD-BLU. In order to overcome the limit of current etched dot patterned LGP, optical pattern with continuous microlens was designed using optical simulation CAE. Also, a mold with continuous micro-lens was fabricated by UV-LiGA reflow process and applied to 7 inch size of navigator LCD-BLU in the present study.

  • A possibility of production of aluminium matrix composites by using the lost foam process was investigated. Silicon carbide particles, graphite particles, and stainless steel wires were used as reinforcement materials. The reinforcement materials were introduced to the polystyrene to form patterns via injection molding process. The results obtained from this experiment can be summarized as follows. In Al/SiCp system, the particles with the radius of $100{\mu}m$ and over were entrapped in the matrix in the case of upward freezing of which solidification direction was opposite to floating direction of the particles. And few particles were entrapped in the matrix in downward freezing. In Al/graphite system, almost no particles were entrapped in the matrix except the area chill attatched. When the thickness of polystyrene slice was 4mm in Al/stainless steel wire system, the floating tendency of fibers was observed to increase as the distance from the ingate was increased.

CMP용 리테이닝 링의 재질이 웨이퍼의 연마성능에 미치는 영향 (Effects of CMP Retaining Ring Material on the Performance of Wafer Polishing)

  • This paper investigates the effects of retaining ring materials, particularly PPS and PEEK, used in the CMP process, on wafer polishing and ring wear. CMP can be performed using bonded type retaining rings made with PPS or injection molding type retaining rings made with PEEK. In this study, after polishing a wafer with a PPS retaining ring, the average profile height of the wafer was 0.098 ㎛ less than that of the wafer polished with a PEEK retaining ring, implying that PPS retaining rings achieve a higher polishing rate. In addition, the center area of the wafer profile had less deviation and improved flatness after polishing with the PPS ring. These results indicate that a higher polishing rate and smaller profile height deviation can be achieved using retaining rings made with PPS compared to retaining rings made with PEEK. Therefore, with semiconductor circuit patterns becoming finer and wafer sizes becoming larger, the use of PPS in CMP retaining rings can obtain more stable wafer polishing results compared to that of PEEK.

SLS 조형품을 이용한 수지형 블로우 몰드 제작 및 시작차 부품성형에 관한 연구 (A Study on Manufacturing Resin-based Blow Mold using SLS Parts and Forming Prototype-car Parts)

  • Rapid Prototyping(RP) models are no longer used only for design verification. Currently, parts built utilizing layer manufacturing technology can be employed as functional prototypes and as patterns or tools for different manufacturing processes such as vacuum casting, investment casting, injection molding, precise casting and sand casting. This trend of Rapid Prototyping application meets the requirement of concurrent engineering and its range covers a more spreaded area. The aim of this paper is saving the manufacturing lead time and cost of plastic parts having hollow space shapes used by prototype-car. Using rapid prototype patterns, made by the Selective Laser Sintering(SLS) technique, a new approach of manufacturing resin-based blow mold is discussed. It has a great potential fur making prototype-car parts with the batch size of under 200 parts, in case of rapid modification due to a subsequent design changes in developing stage. So, the process proposed in this research shows reduction of process time and manufacturing cost when compared with the conventional process such as a Zinc Alloy fur Stamping(ZAS) mold.

  • A microlens array has been required to improve light conversion efficiency in image sensors. A microlens array can be usually fabricated by photoresist reflow, hot-embossing, micro injection molding, and UV-imprinting. Among these processes, a UV-imprinting, which is operated at room temperature with relatively low applied pressure, can be a desirable process to integrate microlens array on image sensors, because this process provides the components with low thermal expansion, enhanced stability, and low birefringence, furthermore, it is more suitable for mass production of high quality microlens array. In this study, to analyze the optical properties of the wafer scale microlens array integrated image sensor, another wafer scale simulated image sensor chip array was designed and fabricated. An aspherical square microlens was designed and integrated on a simulated image sensor chip array using a UV-imprinting process. Finally, the optical performances were measured and analyzed.

초음파 센서를 사용한 캐비닛 형상 인식 (Shape Recognition of a Cabinet by using Ultrasonic Sensors)

  • TV 본체를 둘러싸고 있는 외곽의 판을 캐비닛이라 하며 다양한 디자인이 가능하도록 하기위하여 폴리카보네이트와 같은 재질을 사용하여 만든다. 이러한 캐비닛은 사출 성형, 자외선 접합 등의 공정을 거치는 동안 열 변형을 일으키기 쉽다. 심하게 변형이 일어난 불량 캐비닛은 제품의 품질을 저하시키기 때문에 공정에서 제거되어야 한다. 본 논문에서는 TV 캐비닛의 형상 인식을 자동화하기 위하여 개발된 초음파 센서를 사용한 형상인식 시스템에 대하여 소개한다. 즉, 캐비닛 형상 인식을 위한 실험 시스템 구성과 캐비닛의 형상을 판별할 수 있는 평가 지수의 제안 그리고 초음파 거리 측정 시 발생할 수 있는 바이어스치 제거 알고리듬, 캐비닛의 양 불량품 판정을 위한 검사 알고리듬 등의 개발 및 검증 결과에 관하여 소개한다.

겔 캐스팅 공정을 위한 알루미나 슬러리에서의 첨가제 함량 변화에 따른 겔화특성 평가 (Evaluation of Gelation Characteristics with The Variation of Additive Contents in The Alumina Slurry for Gel Casting Process)

  • Recently, the use of high-tech ceramic parts in functional electronic parts, automobile parts and semiconductor equipment parts is increasing. These ceramics materials are required to have high reproducibility, reliability, large size and complex shapes. The researchers initiated the work to develop a new shaping method called gel casting, which allows high performance ceramic materials with a complex shape to be produced. The manufacturing process parameters of gel casting include uniform mixing of the initiator, bubble removal, and slip injection. In this study, we analyzed the dispersion and gelation characteristics according to the change in the additive content of the alumina slurry in the gel casting process. The alumina slurry for gel casting was prepared by mixing a solvent, a monomer and a dispersant through a ball mill. Alumina powder and a gelation initiator were added to the mixed solution, and ball milling was performed for 24 hours. A viscosity of 6,435 cps and a stable zeta potential value were obtained under the conditions of alumina powder content of 55 vol% and dispersant 2.0 wt%. After curing for 12 hours by adding aps 0.1wt%, TEMED 0.2wt%, and Monomer 3, 5wt%, it was possible to separate from the molding cup, confirming that the gelation was completed.
