  • The 5G is the 5th generation mobile network that provides enhanced mobile broadband, ultra-reliable & low latency communications, and massive machine-type communications. New services can be provided through multi-access edge computing, network function virtualization, and network slicing, which are key technologies in 5G mobile communication. However, these new technologies provide new attack paths and threats. In this paper, we analyzed the overall threats of 5G mobile communication through a literature review. First, defines 5G mobile communication, analyzes its features and technology architecture, and summarizes possible security issues. Addition, it presents security threats from the perspective of user devices, radio access network, multi-access edge computing, and core networks that constitute 5G mobile communication. After that, security requirements for threat factors were derived through literature analysis. The purpose of this study is to conduct a fundamental analysis to examine and assess the overall threat factors associated with 5G mobile communication. Through this, it will be possible to protect the information and assets of individuals and organizations that use 5G mobile communication technology, respond to various threat situations, and increase the overall level of 5G security.

  • The rising pace of technological change in information and communications technology (ICT) has provoked technological convergence by providing a new mode of diversification. This paper investigates the nature of ICT-based converging technologies by examining comparative empirical evidence on converging versus nonconverging technologies in relation to the following issues: patent application trends, concentration across technologies, the concentration of patenting activity across firms, R&D efforts, and a technology impact index. For this study, a new operational definition of ICT-based converging technology is derived, and a massive quantity of patents, up to around 600,000, is analyzed. This study follows the International Patent Classification as well as the modified European Commission's industry classification system for the classification of technologies and industries, respectively.

  • Advanced countries, in recent, are trying hard to acquire intellectual properties on the promising technologies for prior occupation in the future market. The purpose of this study is to derive the IT-based Promising Technologies and find out their implications, focusing on the US patent market known as the most competitive in the world patent market. In this paper, We give a manipulated definition on the IT-based Promising Technologies and deduct the Promising Technologies based on the definition. To accomplish this purpose, we have utilized the US patents granted for the period 2001-2008 in the IT technology. As a result, we have found that 69 fields are classified as the Promising Technologies among 803 IT fields in a criterion of IPC main-group.

  • As the smartphone market becomes saturated, an innovative device equipped with new features is expected to appear soon in mobile communications. In particular, various possibilities were raised regarding the alternative technologies that can develop post-smartphones, which are differentiated from the current smartphones, as Korea commercialized the 5G infrastructure for the first time in the world. Under these circumstances, the Korean government announced the "5G+ Strategy for Realizing Innovative Growth" in April 2019, vowing to build an innovative industrial ecosystem quickly while creating various convergence services based on the 5G infrastructure. As described above, the policy importance of the alternative technologies that will develop post-smartphones is increasing, but the theoretical study on the technology evolution of post-smartphones has not been systematically conducted until now. This study reviewed the alternative technologies that can develop post-smartphones through documentary research, and data mining analysis was performed on the research result using actual data. The policy priority was also set quantitatively for the alternative technologies of post-smartphones in order to determine the alternative post-smartphone technology that the government should focus on given the constraint of limited resources. As a results, autonomous vehicle(43.68%) was found to be most important, followed by artificial intelligence(17.4%) and Internet of Things(13.1%), among alternative technologies that could develop into the post-smartphone.

  • In this paper, we propose the modified uniformly most powerful (UMP) belief-propagation (BP)-based decoding algorithm which utilizes multiplicative and additive factors to diminish the errors introduced by the approximation of the soft values given by a previously proposed UMP BP-based algorithm. This modified UMP BP-based algorithm shows better performance than that of the normalized UMP BP-based algorithm, i.e., it has an error performance closer to BP than that of the normalized UMP BP-based algorithm on the additive white Gaussian noise channel for low density parity check codes. Also, this algorithm has the same complexity in its implementation as the normalized UMP BP-based algorithm.

  • This study is aimed at identifying the association of change of travel frequencies with information and communications technologies, commuting behavior for 995 workers in the Korea Capital Region. The study surveyed total 995 commuters whose their individual character, commuting behavior, land use as well as ICTs. The measures of the commuting behavior was comprised of a main commuting mode, a use tern, total travel time, and those of land use was the distance from house/office to subway station, and those of ICTs was data and information collection, communication and leisure, online selling or purchases, finance and a civil application, cellular phone service using capacity and so on. The results indicate that commuting behavior, land use, and ICTs are positively associated to change of travel frequencies. Specifically, longer total travel time, or far from house/office to subway station, tend to reduce commuting behavior and collect data and information through internet

  • Two major processing technologies of GaAs HBT and pHEMT have been released in production at Win Semiconductors corp. to address the strong demands of power amplifiers and switches for both handset and WLAN communications markets. Excellent performance with low processing cost and die shrinkage features is reported from the manufactured MMICs. With the stringent tighter manufacturing quality control WIN has successfully become one of the major pure open foundry house to serve the communication industries. The advancing of both technologies to include E/D-pHEMTs and BiHEMTs likes for multifunctional integration of PA, LNA, switch and logics is also highlighted.
