The research investigated CEO´s perception about information technology(IT) and corporate strategy by analyzing CEO's letters appeared in annual reports. Particularly, this paper examined whether there are differences in CEO's perceptions about IT among industries, and time frame. The target industries are manufacturing, distribution/services, banking, and telecommunication； the target time frames are 1996 through 1999. Also, this research examined whether CEO's perceptions about If have positive effects on organizational performance. Major findings are： First, there are distinctive differences among industries in the number of times IT was mentioned, the types of applications discussed, and the content of the discussion. Second, the number of times IT was mentioned increased over time. Third, there is a slightly positive relationship between the number of times IT was mentioned and organizational performance； but, the finding is hard to generalize.

It appears that many companies have made good results by using information technology strategy and business process renovation simultaneously about information technology promotion lately. So this study divides the construct into information technology orientation and business process orientation and sets up business performance as a dependent variable about IT promotion to show whether business performances is high when companies use IT strategy and business process renovation simultaneously about IT promotion. According to this assumption, the information orientation affects business performances. Also it investigated that a interaction with information technology orientation and business process orientation makes a better beneficial effect. Summing up, this will come to the result that information technology orientation with business process orientation makes a better business performances than information technology.

During the past decade a great deal of attention has focused on the impact of IT investment. However, many related studies have frequently generated controversial or inconsistent results. These results imply that the relationship between IT investment and performance is complex and multifaceted. And empirical studies with new analytical techniques are badly needed to examine the way IT investment interacts with various organizational and environmental elements to influence corporate performance. Accordingly a study of IT investment needs to make a contingency approach to determining the level of IT investment based on the competitive strategy in a macro perspective. The basic purpose of this research is to analyse the relationship between IT investment and IT effectiveness and to identify the moderating effect of competitive strategy in the relationship. The results showed that there is no relationship between IT investment and IT effectiveness, and the competitive strategy can be considered as a significant moderating variable between IT investment and IT effectiveness.

This paper investigates and analyzes the default block placement strategy of HDFS. HDFS is a typical representative distributed file system to stream vast amount of data effectively at high bandwidth to user applications. However, the default HDFS block placement policy assumes that all nodes in the cluster are homogeneous, and places blocks with a simple RoundRobin strategy without considering any nodes' resource characteristics, which decreases self-adaptability of the system. The primary contribution of this paper is the proposition of a network load sensitive block placement strategy. We have implemented our algorithm and justify it through extensive simulations and comparison with similar existing studies. The results indicate that our work not only performs much better in the data distribution but also improves write performance more significantly than the others.

The purpose of this study is to identify types of dynamic manufacturing strategies and their effects on business performance. Three characteristics of Korean manufacturing should be noted. First, it is found that there are six types of dynamic manufacturing strategies in Korea. Second, the roles of the infrastructural and structural action programs become different according to different types of dynamic manufacturing strategies. Third, the strategy of continuously fostering both cost leadership and differentiation capabilities has turned out to be very effective in Korea.

1. CONTENTS 1) RESEARCH OBJECTIVES The purpose of the study was to propose a future oriented urban space production strategy to offer diverse useful services to citizens to improve international competitiveness of cities in the times of competition that competitive subjects were changed from competition among countries to competition among cities. 2) RESEARCH METHOD In the proposed future-oriented urban space production strategy, the study compared/analyzed main plans related to development of urban space by selecting CBD(Jung-gu) of Busan out of local metropolises in South Korea. 3) RESEARCH FINDINGS In the proposed future-oriented urban space production strategy, the study largely sorted city's function into four scopes function of industrial support, function of social support, function of living support and function of urban infrastructure. 2. RESULTS It is expected that the proposed future oriented urban space production strategy will be utilized as a useful reference model when a lot of local governments, planning a ubiquitous urban space, establish a plan for constructing a ubiquitous urban space.

A novel Virtual Space Vector (VSV) modulation strategy for complete control of potential neutral point (NP) issues is proposed in this paper. The neutral point potential balancing problems of multi-level converters, which include elimination of low frequency oscillations and self-balancing for NP dc unbalance, are investigated first. Then a set of improved virtual space vectors with dynamic adjustment factors are introduced and a multi-objective optimization algorithm which aims to optimize these adjustment factors is presented in this paper. The improved virtual space vectors and the multi-objective optimization algorithm constitute the novel Virtual Space Vector modulation. The proposed novel Virtual Space Vector modulation can simultaneously recover NP dc unbalance and eliminate low frequency oscillations of the neutral point. Experiment results show that the proposed strategy has excellent performance, and that both of the neutral point potential issues can be solved.

According to literature review, fitness between IT activities and organizational strategy enhances performance. Theoretical research says that centralized company in IT activities is appropriate to cost-leadership strategy and decentralized company in IT activities is appropriate to differentiation strategy. But there are very few empirical research. The purpose of this study is to attest whether fitness between IT activities and organizational strategy enhances the information system performance. But the results of this field study were not consistent with literature that fitness of two independent variables enhance performance. So we should take other contingency variables such as organizational structure, culture etc. into consideration to investigate relationship between IT activities and strategy.

Recent developments in financial market liberalization and information technology are accelerating the interdependence of national stock markets. This study explores the information spillover effect of the US stock market on the overnight and daytime returns of the Korean stock market. We develop a profitable intra-day trading strategy based on the information spillover effect. Our study provides several important conclusions. First, an information spillover effect still exists from the overnight US stock market to the current Korean stock market. Second, Korean investors overreact to both good and bad news overnight from the US. Therefore, there are significant price reversals in the KOSPI 200 index futures prices from market open to market close. Third, the overreaction effect is different between weekdays and weekends. Finally, the suggested intra-day trading system based on the documented overreaction hypothesis is profitable.
