  • A signal system for improving the code acquisition complexity of Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) receiver is proposed and the receiving correlator scheme is presented accordingly. The proposed signal system is a hierarchical code type with a duplexing configuration which consists of the Zadoff-Chu (ZC) code having a good auto-correlation characteristic and the Pseudo Random Noise (PRN) code for distinguishing satellites. The receiving correlator has the scheme that consists of the primary correlator for the ZC code and the secondary correlator which uses the PRN code for the primary correlation results. The simulation results of code acquisition using the receiving correlator of the proposed signal system show that the proposed signal scheme improves the complexity of GNSS receiver and has the code acquisition performance comparable to the existing GNSS signal system using Coarse/Acquisition (C/A) code.

  • In fingerprint-based wireless positioning, it is necessary to establish a DB of the unmeasured area. To this end, a method of estimating the position of a base station based on a signal propagation model, and a method of estimating the information of the received signal in the unmeasured area based on the estimated position of the base station have been investigating. The purpose of this paper is to estimate the position of the base station using the measured information and to analyze the performance of the positioning. Vehicles equipped with a GPS receiver and signal measuring equipment travel the service area and acquire location-based Reference Signal Received Power (RSRP) measurements. We propose a method of estimating the position of the base station using the measured information. And the performance of the proposed method is analyzed on a simulation basis. The simulation results confirm that the accuracy of the positioning is affected by the measured area and the Dilution of Precision (DOP), the accuracy of the position information obtained by the GPS receiver, and the errors of the signal included in the RSRP. Based on the results of this paper, we can expect that the position of the base station can be estimated and the DB of the unmeasured area can be constructed based on the estimated position of the base stations and the signal propagation model.

  • Yhis paper describes a fault diagnosis simulation of the Real-Time Multiple Fault Dignosis System (RTMFDS) for forcasting faults in a system and deciding current machine state from signal information. Comparing with other diagnosis system for single fault, the system developed deals with multiple fault diagnosis, comprising two main parts. One is a remotesignal generating and transimission terminal and the other is a host system for fault diagnosis. Signal generator generate the random fault signal and the image information, and send this information to host. Host consists of various modules and agents such as Signal Processing Module(SPM) for sinal preprocessing, Performence Monotoring Module(PMM) for subsystem performance monitoring, Trigger Module(TM) for multi-triggering subsystem fault diagnosis, Subsystem Fault Diagnosis Agent(SFDA) for receiving trigger signal, formulating subsystem fault D\ulcornerB and initiating diagnosis, Fault Diagnosis Module(FDM) for simulating component fault with Hierarchical Artificial Neural Network (HANN), numerical models and Hofield network,Result Agent(RA) for receiving simulation result and sending to Treatment solver and Graphic Agent(GA). Each agent represents a separate process in UNIX operating system, information exchange and cooperation between agents was doen by IPC(Inter Process Communication : message queue, semaphore, signal, pipe). Numerical models are used to deseribe structure, function and behavior of total system, subsystems and their components. Hierarchical data structure for diagnosing the fault system is implemented by HANN. Signal generation and transmittion was performed on PC. As a host, SUN workstation with X-Windows(Motif)is used for graphic representation.

  • Adaptive beamformers, which utilize a priori information on the arrival angle of the desired signal. suppress interferences while maximizing their gains in the desired signal direction. However, if there exist errors in the direction information, they can suffer from severe performance degradation since the desired signal is treated as an interference. A robust adaptive beamforming method is presented which exploits the signal-blocking structure of the Duvall beamformer. The proposed method finds an interference signal space directly from correlations of received signals and then obtains a weight vector such that it is orthogonal to the space. Applying the weight vector to two sub arrays which consist of one less sensors than the original uniform lineal array (ULA), the beamformer efficiently estimates the arrival angle of the desired signal. Its computational complexity is lower than existing methods, which require matrix inversion or eigendecomposition.

  • This paper proposes a new measurement method for the effective measurement of the 99% occupied bandwidth (OBW) at monitoring stations. Although the OBW measurement of radio signal is recommended by the International Telecommunication Union Radio (ITU-R) with several methods, there still does not exist a clear measurement recommendation or standard for terrestrial DTV signal on-air environment. Modified adjacent channel power ratio (MACPR), which can be applied to 8-VSB (Vestigial Side Band) DTV (Digital Television) signal, is herein defined to verify the results of measurements obtained using the proposed measurement method. MACPR is a proper measuring parameter for determining the measuring area of a monitoring station. From measurement results obtained in real field environment, it has been found that the OBW of 8-VSB DTV signal can be effectively measured in areas where the MACPR value is over 35 dB and when the measurements are repeated more than 600 times in the same reception site. It also has been verified that measured results are within an error range of +/-0.1% compared to results directly obtained at a transmission station. It is expected that the proposed method is able to be employed in order to determine the proper location of monitoring station and provide a reliable OBW measurement procedure for 8-VSB DTV signal on-air environment.

  • We propose a method for removing interference and noise to estimate target information. In wireless channels, information signals are subject to interference and noise, making it is difficult to accurately estimate the desired signal. To estimate the desired information signal, it is essential to remove the noise and interference from the received signal, extracting only the desired signal. If the received signal noise and interference are not removed, the estimated information signal will have a large error in distance and direction, and the exact location of the target cannot be estimated. This study aims to accurately estimate the desired target in space. The objective is to achieve more presice target estimation than existing methods and enhance target resolution. An estimation method is proposed to improve the accuracy of target estimation. The proposed target estimation method obtains optimal weights using linear constraints and the minimum variance method. Through simulation, the performance of the proposed method and the existing method is analyzed. The proposed method successfully estimated all four targets, while the existing method only estimated two targets. The results show that the proposed method has better resolutiopn and superior estimation capability than the existing method.

  • In this paper, we formed a transmitter and receiver by using three identical Chuas circuits and then formed wire and wireless transmission line from the channel which was between those three circuits. We proposed a secure communication method in which the desired information signal was synthesized with the chaos signal created in a Chuas circuit and sent to the transmitter through channel. Then the signal was demodulated receiver of Chuas circuit. The method we used to accomplish the secure communication was synthesizing the desired information with the chaos circuit by parallel connection in a wireless transmission line. After transmitting the synthesized signal to the wire and wireless transmission line, we confirmed the actuality of the secure communication by separating the information signal and the chaos signal in the receiver.

  • We describe a new method for identifying the sequences that signal the start of translation, and the boundaries between exons and introns (donor and acceptor sites) in human mRNA. According to the mandatory keyword, ORGANISM, and feature key, CDS, a large set of standard data for each signal site was extracted from the ASCII flat file, gbpri.seq, in the GenBank release 108.0. This was used to generate the scoring matrices, which summarize the sequence information for each signal site. The scoring matrices take into account the independent nucleotide frequencies between adjacent bases in each position within the signal site regions, and the relative weight on each nucleotide in proportion to their probabilities in the known signal sites. Using a scoring scheme that is based on the nucleotide scoring matrices, the method has great sensitivity and specificity when used to locate signals in uncharacterized human genomic DNA. These matrices are especially effective at distinguishing true and false sites.

  • This paper estimate a desired signal in a correlation wireless communication. The transmitted signal is mixed with the information signal, interference, and noise in wireless channel, and it is incident on the receiver. In this paper, we apply MUSIC algorithm and sub-array method to recover the total rank of the correlation matrix in order to estimation a desired signal among receiving signals. Through simulation, we analyze to compare the proposed method with the classical MUSIC algorithm. As a result of the simulation, the proposed method improved the resolution about 10degrees compared to the conventional MUSIC algorithm. We prove the superiority of the proposed method for the desired signal estimation in correlation channel.
