  • Due to the improvement of modern information technologies, sharing stock information among the supply chain members is a common practice nowadays. Many companies are planning to adopt the information systems to possess the real-time shared stock information. Thus, it is needed to quantify the value of shared stock information. The purpose of this paper is to evaluate the value of the shared stock information for two-echelon distribution systems. Existing reorder policies can be classified into installation stock policies and echelon stock policies. Since installation stock policies do not utilize the shared stock information, and both classes of policies may show poor performances for distribution systems, we cannot evaluate the value of the shared stock information with the existing policies. Thus, we provide a new type of reorder policy, named order risk policy. We define the order risk using marginal analysis, and prove the optimality. Through computational experiment that compares the order risk policy with the existing policies, it is shown that a significant cost reduction is achieved with the effective utilization of the shared stock information. We also show the effect of the system characteristics on the value of the shared stock information.

  • Previous studies on information systems (IS) and finance suggest that information on stock message boards influence the investment decisions of individual investors. However, how information on online stock message boards influences an individual investor's buy or sell decisions is unclear. To address this research question, we investigate the relationship between a number of posts on stock message boards and order imbalance in stock markets. Order imbalance is defined as the difference between the daily sum of buy-side shares traded and the daily sum of sell-side shares traded. Therefore, order imbalance can suggest the direction of trades and the strength of the direction with trading volumes. In this regard, this study examines how the number of posts (information on stock message boards) influences order imbalance (stock trading behavior). We collected about 46,077 messages of 40 companies on the Korea Composite Stock Price Index from Paxnet, the most popular Korean online stock message board. The messages we collected were divided based on in-trading and after-trading hours to examine the relationship between the numbers of posts and trading volumes. We also collected order imbalance data on individual investors. We then integrated the balanced panel data sets and analyzed them through vector regression. We found that the number of posts on online stock message boards is positively related to prior order imbalance. We believe that our findings contribute to knowledge in IS and finance. Furthermore, this study suggests that investors should carefully monitor information on stock message boards to understand stock market sentiments.

  • Various products are displayed and traded in superstores. Therefore, providing the information of these diverse products plays a crucial part in acknowledging their presence. Currently, superstores mostly utilize printed materials to provide product information and promotion of displayed products. A display equipment is utilized for providing product information and promotion of certain high-end and new products. As such, utilizing an expensive display equipment in order to provide product information fragmentarily for 1 product or successively can be referred to as being inefficient. This paper aims at proposing a method that enables the description of product information efficiently by utilizing a display specific for store support in order to overcome the restriction mentioned above. A test was executed in order to verify the potential of the method of providing product information though the proposed display.

  • Nonlinear filters which are utilized rank-order information and temporal-order information, have many proposed, in order to restore nonstationary signals which are corrupted by additive noise. In this paper, we propose a data-dependent LWOS filter whose coefficients change based on local statistics. LWOS(Linear Combination of Weighted Order Statistics) filters[1]which also utilized two informations, and have properties of efficient impulsive and nonimpulsive noise attenuation and sufficiently details and edges preservation. DD-LWOS filters can remove non-impulsive oises while preserving signal details. DD-LWOS2 filter gets more better performance than DD-LWOS filter when input image corrupted by additive noise which includes Impulsive noise components.

  • Anonymous hierarchical identity based encryption (HIBE) is an extension of identity based encryption (IBE) that can use an arbitrary string like an e-mail address for a public key, and it additionally provide the anonymity of identity in ciphertexts. Using the anonymous HIBE schemes, it is possible to construct anonymous communication systems and public key encryption with keyword search. This paper presents an anonymous HIBE scheme with constant size ciphertexts under prime order symmetric bilinear groups, and shows that it is secure under the selective security model. Previous anonymous HIBE schemes were constructed to have linear size ciphertexts, to use composite order bilinear groups, or to use asymmetric bilinear groups that is a special type of bilinear groups. Our construction is the first efficient anonymous HIBE scheme that has constant size ciphertexts and that uses prime order symmetric bilinear groups. Compared to the previous scheme of composite order bilinear groups, ours is ten times faster. To achieve our construction, we first devise a novel cancelable random blinding technique. The random blinding property of our technique provides the anonymity of our construction, and the cancellation property of our technique enables decryption.

  • We investigate BER performance according to the order of spatial and frequency diversity combining in uplink SC-FDMA of SIMO systems. It is found that frequency diversity combining (FDC) after spatial diversity combining (SDC) is better than the reverse order combing in all SNR (Signal to Noise Ratio) range. Also, it is shown that FDC after SDC requires less computational complexity than the reverse order combining.

  • In this paper, we develop the cost minimization model to select two incentives and total order quantity with consideration of remanufacture company's return incentive. Return rate is sensitive to the incentive that the manufacture company offers. Using a EOQ(Economic Order Quantity) model of a cost minimization, we show concavities of the model about two incentives and total order quantity respectively. According to the proposed algorithm using the concavities, we find out the optimized incentive prices and total order quantity. Through numerical study, we examine sensitive analysis of the incentive price and order quantity for each parameter when the return rate is sensitive to incentive. Company lessens incentive to reduce total price. However, this makes the total price increase due to a diminution of return quantity. We expect that domestic or overseas remanufacture businesses are able to decide optimal incentive and total order quantity by this research.

  • Objectives: In this paper, the survey on internet usage patterns of health consumers was conducted and analyzed in order to determine internet health information assessment criteria for providing correct consumer health information on web-sites. Methods: By using a survey questionnaire with 16 questions on general information and 20 questions on internet health information, data were collected from September 16 to 25, 2005 from 476 participants through an internet web site, http://www.hp.go.kr. Frequency analysis, t-test, and multiple regression were used in order to analyze the difference in assessment criteria, factors influencing assessment criteria, factors influencing user satisfaction, etc. Results: General characteristics of the study population were: the persons over age 40 were the smallest age group; women were accounted for 74.2%; and the persons with average income were the largest income group; and the persons with average health status were the largest health group. Most widely used health information were: exercise, disease, and diet, in order. There was significant difference(p=.001) in importance of assessment criteria between the persons in medical institutions and the persons not in medical institutions. There was no significant difference in other assessment criteria. We also found that contents of websites and easy to use were more important factors than elucidation of information providers and information sources including speciality of information in quality assessment criteria of internet health information. Discussion and Conclusion: Results of this paper were compared with the previous studies from the literatures. Contrary to the previous studies in the literature, there was significant difference in importance of assessment criteria between the persons in medical institutions and the persons not in medical institutions. In order to apply the study results to develop health contents for consumer, there is a need for further upgrade the proposed assessment criteria based on expert opinion.
