Wideband Class-J Power Amplifier Design Using Internal Matched GaN HEMT (내부정합된 GaN HMET를 이용한 광대역 J-급 전력증폭기 설계)

  • In order to satisfy the diffusion of multimedia service in mobile communication and the demand for high-speed communication, it is essential to modify and improve high efficiency, wideband and nonlinear characteristic of multiband power amplifier. This research is designed to implement a single-stub matching circuit as a 2nd harmonic one that meets conditions of the Class-J power amplifier. Low characteristic impedance of the single-stub line is necessary to suit conditions of wideband Class-J. This research uses ceramic substrates having high permittivity to implement the single-stub line with low characteristic impedance, which eventually results in an amplifier satisfying the output impedance terms of Class-J in wideband frequency range. This result attributes to use of GaN HEMT packaged with a 2nd harmonic matching circuit and external fundamental circuit. The measurement results of the Class-J amplifier confirms the following characteristics: more than output power of 50 W(47 dBm) in bandwidth of 1.8~2.7 GHz(0.9GHz), maximum drain efficiency of 72.6 %, and maximum PAE characteristic of 66.5 %.

Determination of Key Factors for the Pedestrian LOS Introducing the Accessibility Index (접근성 지표를 도입한 보행로 서비스 수준의 영향요인 규명)

  • A considerable amount of literature has been published on pedestrian LOS. So far, however, there is a limitation that LOS analysis methodologies has concentrated on quantitative variables such as pedestrian flow rate, speed and space. This paper intended to suggest the accessibility variable which can not be considered on previous study. The factor was defined and quantified using public transport attributes in particular. This study was carried out in three phases: 1. defined accessibility employing public mode location and service information. 2. investigated the relationship between accessibility and pedestrian flow rate 3. developed the model to establish the factors affected to pedestrian LOS. The results showed that accessibility, walkway attribute and land use type affected the pedestrian LOS. Especially, accessibility and commercial area ratio had negative relationship with LOS. Futhermore, pedestrian LOS declined when obstacle of bus station located on the walkway. On the contrary, LOS was upgraded when sufficient effective width or residential area was secured. These results can receive considerable critical attentions related to determination of pedestrian LOS or effective walkway width.

Updating Building Data in Digital Topographic Map Based on Matching and Generation of Update History Record (수치지도 건물데이터의 매칭 기반 갱신 및 이력 데이터 생성)

  • The data of buildings and structures take over large portions of the mapping database with large numbers. Furthermore, those shapes and attributes of building data continuously change over time. Due to those factors, the efficient methodology of updating database for following the most recent data become necessarily. This study has purposed on extracting needed data, which has been changed, by using overlaying analysis of new and old dataset, during updating processes. Following to procedures, we firstly searched for matching pairs of objects from each dataset, and defined the classification algorithm for building updating cases by comparing; those of shape updating cases are divided into 8 cases, while those of attribute updating cases are divided into 4 cases. Also, two updated dataset are set to be automatically saved. For the study, we selected few guidelines; the layer of digital topographic map 1:5000 for the targeted updating data, the building layer of Korea Address Information System map for the reference data, as well as build-up areas in Gwanak-gu, Seoul for the test area. The result of study updated 82.1% in shape and 34.5% in attribute building objects among all.

A Quality System for Evaluating Reusability of Core Assets in Product Line Engineering (프로덕트 라인 공학의 핵심자산 재사용성 평가를 위한 품질시스템)

  • Product line engineering (PLE) is a new effective approach to software reuse, where applications are generated by instantiating a core asset which is a large-grained reuse unit. Hence, a core asset is a key element of PLE, and therefore the reusability of the core asset largely determines the success of PLE projects. A tore asset is a reusable part not a whole system, and supports not only variable functions but also common functions. However, there are limitations to evaluate reusability of core asset that has these unique characteristics. This paper proposes a comprehensive quality system for evaluating the reusability of core assets, based on ISO/IEC 9126. We first identify the key characteristics of core assets, and derive the set of quality attributes that characterizes the reusability of core assets. finally, we define metrics for each quality attribute. In addition, we provide guidelines for applying the metrics and perform a case study based on rental product line. Using the proposed quality system, reusability of core assets can be more effectively and correctly evaluated.

  • IoT(Internet of Things) is a concept of connected internet pursuing direct access to devices or sensors in fused environment of personal, industrial and public area. In IoT environment, it is possible to access realtime data, and the data format and topology of devices are diverse. Also, there are bidirectional communications between users and devices to control actuators in IoT. In this point, IoT is different from the conventional internet in which data are produced by human desktops and gathered in server systems by way of one-sided simple internet communications. For the cloud or portal service of IoT, there should be a file management framework supporting systematic naming service and unified data access interface encompassing the variety of IoT things. This paper implements a DB-based virtual file system maintaining attributes of IoT things in a UNIX-styled file system view. Users who logged in the virtual shell are able to explore IoT things by navigating the virtual file system, and able to access IoT things directly via UNIX-styled file I O APIs. The implemented virtual file system is lightweight and flexible because it maintains only directory structure and descriptors for the distributed IoT things. The result of a test for the virtual shell primitives such as mkdir() or chdir() shows the smooth functionality of the virtual file system, Also, the exploring performance of the file system is better than that of Window file system in case of adopting a simple directory cache mechanism.

MODFLOW or FEFLOW: A Case Study of Groundwater Model Selection for the Upper Waikato Catchment, New Zealand

  • Groundwater in the Waikatoregion is a valuable resource for agriculture, water supply, forestry and industries. The 434,000 ha study area comprises the upper Waikato River catchment from the outflow of Lake Taupo (New Zealand's largest lake) through to Lake Karapiro (a man-made hydro lake with high recreational value) (Figure 1). Water quality in the area is naturally high. However, there are indications that this quality is deteriorating as a result of land use intensification and deforestation. Compounding this concern for decision makers is the lag time between land use changes and the realisation of effects on groundwater and surface water quality. It is expected that the effects of land use changes have not yet fully manifested, and additional intensification may take decadesto fully develop, further compounding the deterioration. Consequently, Environment Waikato (EW) have proposed a programme of work to develop a groundwater model to assist managing water quality and appropriate policy development within the catchment. One of the most important and critical decisions of any modelling exercise is the choice of the modelling platform to be used. It must not inhibit future decision making and scenario exploration and needs to allow as accurate representation of reality as feasible. With this in mind, EW requested that two modelling platforms, MODFLOW/MT3DMS and FEFLOW, be assessed for their ability to deliver the long-term modelling objectives for this project. The two platforms were compared alongside various selection criteria including complexity of model set-up and development, computational burden, ease and accuracy of representing surface water-groundwater interactions, precision in predictive scenarios and ease with which the model input and output files could be interrogated. This latter criteria is essential for the thorough assessment of predictive uncertainty with third-party software, such as PEST. This paper will focus on the attributes of each modelling platform and the comparison of the two approaches against the key criteria in the selection process. Primarily due to the ease of handling and developing input files and interrogating output files, MODFLOW/MT3DMS was selected as the preferred platform. Other advantages and disadvantages of the two modelling platforms were somewhat balanced. A preliminary regional groundwater numerical model of the study area was subsequently constructed. The model simulates steady state groundwater and surface water flows using MODFLOW and transient contaminant transport with MT3DMS, focussing on nitrate nitrogen (as a conservative solute). Using a Choice Experiment to Measure the Non-market Value of Sea Water Quality with a Focus on the Incheon Special Area Management Plan (선택실험법을 이용한 해역수질 속성의 비시장적 가치 추정: 인천특별관리해역을 중심으로)

  • The coast of Incheon reaches Incheon itself, Gimpo, Siheung, and Ansan of Gyunggi-do. Because this area has been seriously polluted, the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries has established the Incheon Special Area Management Plan (SAMP) to preserve sea water quality as a marine environment asset. However, there is concern that actions taken in this area may change the surrounding marine ecology, being effected by farms, via a river that flows from waste lands, abandoned fishing activities and fishing nets, etc. Given this background, this study estimates the value of SAMP sea water quality using a choice experiment (CE). A CE survey of 1,000 households was undertaken, investigating trade-offs involving price and four attributes for selecting a preferred alternative to obtain a marginal willingness to pay (MWTP) estimate for each attribute. The estimation results showed that MWTP for a 1 %p improvement in sea water quality, the diversity of fauna species, the diversity of flora species, and a 1 %p reduction in marine litter as a result of conserving Incheon coastal sea water quality are estimated to be KRW 75, 135, 309 and 72 per household per year, respectively. All estimation results were statistically significant at the 1 % level. These findings can provide policy makers with useful information for evaluating and planning marine environmental management policies.

  • Due to the spread of COVID-19, the use of O2O order·delivery applications are becoming very common. Unlike the past, where customers could choose the desired transaction method and channel, these days, where customers' choices are very limited, it is urgent to consider the concept of shadow labor which has been hindered by the convenience and the benefits of order·delivery app. To this end, in this study, the service quality factors perceived by users of O2O order·delivery app and their shadow work attributes were identified, and priorities according to their relative importance and satisfaction level were suggested. In order to fulfill research objectives, first, after collecting user reviews for an O2O order·delivery app, the subject words were derived using topic modeling. Research variables were selected by linking 11 keywords with the concepts of previous studies on service quality of mobile apps and those about shadow labor. Eight variables of usefulness, ease of use, stability, design quality, personalization, responsiveness, update, and presence were selected. Based on 32 measurement items from the variables, a revised IPA was conducted, and finally, 'keep', 'concentrate', 'low priority', or 'overkill' service quality factors are revealed.

  • As the development of ICT has made it easier to collect various traffic information, research on creating new traffic attributes is drawing attention. Estimation and forecasts of demand and traffic volume are one of the main indicators that are essential to traffic operation, assuming that the traffic pattern at a particular node or link is repeated. Traditionally, a survey method was used to demonstrate this similarity on trip behavior. However, the method was limited to achieving high accuracy with high costs and responses that relied on the respondents' memory. Recently, as traffic data has become easier to gather through ETC system, smart card, studies are performed to identify the regularity of trip in various ways. In, this study, route-level trip data collected in Daegu metropolitan city were analyzed to confirm that individual traveler forms a spatially similar trip chain over several days. For this purpose, we newly define the concept of spatial trip regularity and assess the spatial difference between daily trip chains using the sequence alignment algorithm, Dynamic Time Warping. In addition, we will discuss the applications as the indicators of fixed traffic demand and transportation services.

White striping degree assessment using computer vision system and consumer acceptance test

  • Objective: The objective of this study was to evaluate three different degrees of white striping (WS) addressing their automatic assessment and customer acceptance. The WS classification was performed based on a computer vision system (CVS), exploring different machine learning (ML) algorithms and the most important image features. Moreover, it was verified by consumer acceptance and purchase intent. Methods: The samples for image analysis were classified by trained specialists, according to severity degrees regarding visual and firmness aspects. Samples were obtained with a digital camera, and 25 features were extracted from these images. ML algorithms were applied aiming to induce a model capable of classifying the samples into three severity degrees. In addition, two sensory analyses were performed: 75 samples properly grilled were used for the first sensory test, and 9 photos for the second. All tests were performed using a 10-cm hybrid hedonic scale (acceptance test) and a 5-point scale (purchase intention). Results: The information gain metric ranked 13 attributes. However, just one type of image feature was not enough to describe the phenomenon. The classification models support vector machine, fuzzy-W, and random forest showed the best results with similar general accuracy (86.4%). The worst performance was obtained by multilayer perceptron (70.9%) with the high error rate in normal (NORM) sample predictions. The sensory analysis of acceptance verified that WS myopathy negatively affects the texture of the broiler breast fillets when grilled and the appearance attribute of the raw samples, which influenced the purchase intention scores of raw samples. Conclusion: The proposed system has proved to be adequate (fast and accurate) for the classification of WS samples.
