  • In general, the tunnel portal is constructed with reinforced concrete. And the carbonation of concrete can cause reinforcement corrosion, causing function failure and tunnel destruction. To establish management system such as tunnel inspection and rehabilitation, distance between tunnel portal and coast, service life and traffic were selected as carbonation influencing factors and correlation analysis with carbonation depth for each influencing factor was performed.

  • The purpose of this paper is to analyse the factors influencing satisfaction, reliance, and loyalty to the life insurance companies. The factors are divided into two categories: the characteristics of life insurance companies and sellers. Factor analysis and multiple regression is employed. Two factors are found in the analysis of the characteristics of life insurance companies. Those are quality and social liability of life insurance companies. One factor are extracted from the analysis of the characteristics of sellers. We also find each one factor in the factor analysis of satisfaction, reliance, and loyalty. The findings are summarized as follows. Firstly, the role of sellers are very important for the three performance variables, namely satisfaction, reliance, and loyalty. Secondly, the factor for social liability of life insurance companies is statistically significant to the satisfaction performance. Finally, The three explaining variables are statistically significant to the reliance and loyalty performance.

  • This study aims to evaluate the residential exterior environment and ascertain the factors having an effect on the visual environment viewed through the living room window. This study is based on a questionnaire on the exterior environment targeting residents living in the area of Nohyunng in Jeju city, Jeju-do. The results are as follows. First, residents are satisfied with the exterior environment as a whole; however, the longer-term residents' level of satisfaction is found to be relatively low while dissatisfaction is high. Additionally, there is a difference in satisfaction and dissatisfaction levels between the residents in their own housing and those in rental housing. The residents living in rental housing were found to have a relatively low level of satisfaction and high dissatisfaction. Second, in the case where the living room window faces roads, low satisfaction and high dissatisfaction levels with the visual environment were found, where the living room is on the first or second floor. Third, satisfaction and dissatisfaction with the exterior environment have a close correlation to the impression or nature elements of 26 questions but they show low correlation in size, height, color, design, traffic, artifact elements. Finally, as a result of extracting the factors influencing satisfaction and dissatisfaction with the visual environment, four factors were extracted including "Impression & Nature factor", "Building factor", "Design factor", and "Traffic volume & Artifacts factor". "Impression & Nature factors" is the most influencing factor with satisfaction and dissatisfaction and "Traffic volume & Artifacts factor" was found to have an effect on satisfaction, but not as clearly on dissatisfaction.

  • Importance of appearance as a means of self-expression and communication is increasing in modern society even for men. And appearance has become an significant factor affecting men's quality of life. The main objectives of this study were to develop an instrument measuring appearance related quality of life(ARQoL), and examine the body factors influencing ARQoL. The ARQoL instrument was developed from in-depth interviews, focus group interviews, and literature review, and were revised through two pre-tests. The final questionnaire was administered through on-line survey with 440 men. Quota sampling was used based on age and body size. The results indicated that high ARQoL group showed significantly higher satisfaction on body factors including face, weight, shape, body proportion, hair, and overall impression than low ARQoL group. There was no significant difference in terms of satisfaction on height between two groups. Factor analysis showed that ARQoL consists of four factors - physical, economic, psychological and social factors. Overall impression was the most important body factor affecting all four factors of ARQoL and has very strong influence especially on economic ARQoL. BMI was also a significant factor affecting physical, economic and social ARQoL except psychological factor of ARQoL. Face had significant influence only on economic and psychological aspects of ARQoL.

Methods: The data were collected using self-reported questionnaire from 221 care helpers working in long-term care facility or home care service center. The data were analyzed using multiple regression with the SPSS/WIN 17.0 program. Results: There were significant differences in service quality depending on the health status, intimacy level, pleasure level, job education, and turnover intention. Factors influencing service quality were gender, intimacy level with elderly, type of working place and job satisfaction with $R^2$ value of 17.3%. The most influencing factor was intimacy level (${\beta}$=.249), followed by job satisfaction (${\beta}$=.208), gender (${\beta}$=.170), and type of working place (${\beta}$=.146). Conclusion: The results of this study indicate that the effort to improve the service quality of care helper should be focused on helping intimacy building between the elderly and the care helper. Also, a more effective way to improve service quality would be intervening for care helpers providing institutional care.

  • Purpose: This study was conducted to identify factors influencing fundus examination to prevent diabetic retinopathy in diabetes patients to provide basic data to improve screening rates of fundus examinations. Methods: Raw data from the 6th Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey, which is a cross-sectional and nationally representative survey, were used in this study. The subjects of the study were 1,029 adult diabetes patients over the age of 19 years who had been diagnosed with diabetes. The demographic characteristics, diabetes and disease-related characteristics and health behavior characteristics according to the fundus examinations were analyzed by the chi-squared test and logistic regression analyses were used to examine the factors influencing fundus examination. Results: A total of 333 patients underwent fundus examination at a screening rate of 32.2%. We identified factors influencing fundus examination in patients with diabetes as level of education, type of diabetes care, period of diabetes, and smoking. Conclusion: A multiple approach is required to raise the low screening rate of fundus examination, including specialized education for low-education groups. Moreover, nursing intervention should focus on subjects who do not engage in insulin and oral hypoglycemic agents and with diabetes for a long period.

Methods : This study was conducted in a tertiary teaching hospital. Subjects were a total of 10,383 ambulatory patients. Consultation time was measured by time spent for meeting with his/her physician per patient. Waiting time was defined as the time difference between each patient's reserved time and time to meet with his/her physician for ambulatory care. Multiple regression analyses were performed to determine the factors influencing consultation and waiting time. Results : Consultation time was different according to patient' age, previous experience of clinic visit, recent admission history, medical department, specialist care, type of reservation, and day of the week. Significant factors influencing waiting time were patient' age, residential area, previous experience of clinic visit, recent admission history, medical department, specialist care, time spent after ambulatory care begins, and day of the week. Conclusions : The medical department was the strongest factor affecting both consultation time and waiting time. The ambulatory reservation management systems should take into account patient characteristics as well as care-related features.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to understand self confidence during delivery in laboring women and to identify the factors influencing self confidence for delivery. Method: The participants of the study were 166 women who were admitted to a delivery room at C hospital in Seoul from July 1 to October 31, 2002. Data was collected using a structured questionnaire, self confidence scale, anxiety scale, knowledge of childbirth scale and graphic rating scale. The data was analyzed by the SPSS PC+ program. For the analysis of collected data, frequency analysis, Pearson's correlation, multiple linear regression analysis and stepwise selection method was used. Result: Self confidence during delivery had negative correlation coefficients with anxiety, and positive correlation coefficients with endurance of pain, husband support during pregnancy, age and parity. Anxiety was the highest factor influencing self confidence for delivery(40.0%). Endurance of pain, husband support during pregnancy and age accounted for 49.0% of self confidence in laboring women. Conclusion: The factors influencing self confidence during delivery were anxiety, endurance to pain, husband support during pregnancy and age. Further studies need to be done to identify interventions for overcoming on anxiety, promoting endurance of pain, and increasing husband support during pregnancy.
