Industrial Process Monitoring and Fault Diagnosis Based on Temporal Attention Augmented Deep Network

  • Following the intuition that the local information in time instances is hardly incorporated into the posterior sequence in long short-term memory (LSTM), this paper proposes an attention augmented mechanism for fault diagnosis of the complex chemical process data. Unlike conventional fault diagnosis and classification methods, an attention mechanism layer architecture is introduced to detect and focus on local temporal information. The augmented deep network results preserve each local instance's importance and contribution and allow the interpretable feature representation and classification simultaneously. The comprehensive comparative analyses demonstrate that the developed model has a high-quality fault classification rate of 95.49%, on average. The results are comparable to those obtained using various other techniques for the Tennessee Eastman benchmark process.

  • Method for performance monitoring and diagnosis of a MIMO control system has been studied aiming at application to model predictive control (MPC) for industrial processes. The performance monitoring part is designed on the basis of the traditional SPC/SQC method. To meet the underlying premise of Schwart chart observation that the observed variable should be univariate and independent, the process variables are decorrelated temporally as well as spatially before monitoring. The diagnosis part was designed to identify the root of performance degradation among the controller, process, and disturbance. For this, a method to estimate the model-error and disturbance signal has been devised. The proposed methods were evaluated through numerical examples.

  • Fault Diagnosis is a process of detecting and isolating faults in a system. On demanding for safety and high reliability systems make it important for some reasons such as economical and environmental incentives. Especially embedded technology and IT technology combined with precise sensing techniques has been doing well developed and applied to fault diagnosis and prognosis in industrial systems like as automotive, ship, heavy industry and aerospace as well. This paper, as an empirical application of diesel engine, presents a method how to get raw data from physical systems, what to consider for successful implementation and which theoretic mathematical models should be applied. In a sense of system level Adaptive Filtering (we call Modified Kalman Filter) and a unit of part level Hidden Markov Process was developed and applied.

  • This paper present an advanced fault diagnosis expert system to assist the operators at local control center. The system utilizes all th information available in a local control center for the better diagnostic performance. The major feature of the system is dealing with multiple faults diagnosis based on the certainty factor method for the reasoning process. the overall performance and the generality are also enhanced by utilizing the general topological knowledge. ASCADA simulator is also developed for he test and demonstration.

중소기업의 가치혁신역량진단과 혁신전략 설정에 관한 연구 -가치혁신툴(VIQ)의 활용을 중심으로- (The study on the Diagnosis of SMEs Innovation Capability for the Value Innovation and Innovation Strategy -Focused on the Utilization of the VIQ(Value Innovation Quotient)-)

  • 본 연구에서는 가치혁신역량 진단툴(VIQ)를 활용하여 중소기업의 가치혁신역량을 진단하고 조직혁신전략의 방향을 설정한 사례를 고찰하여 시사점을 도출한다. 조직내 가치혁신을 이루기 위하여 조직내 가치혁신역량이 어느 정도 되는지 측정하는 툴이 바로 가치혁신역량 진단툴인 VIQ(Value Innovation Quotient)이다. 조직내에서는 이러한 가치혁신툴을 통하여 조직혁신역량을 진단하는 것을 넘어서 조직혁신 방향을 설정할 수 있다. 본 연구에서는 이러한 진단툴을 활용하여 실제로 대덕특구 내에서 성장하고 있는 IT기업을 선정하여 분석하고 이를 바탕으로 혁신전략을 수립한다. VIQ결과를 반영하여 혁신전략은 3가지로 도출되었다. 첫째, 급변하는 외부환경에 대응하기 위하여 비즈니스 인텔리스전스 활동 및 시나리오 플래닝 등 유연한 전략계획 체계를 구축한다. 둘째, 의사결정 차원에서 신속한 의사결정 체계를 구축한다. 셋째, 이러한 전략실행의 기반이 될 수 있도록 유연한 조직체계를 구축한다. 즉, 임파워먼트 및 유연한 의사소통체계를 구축한다. 본 기업분석 사례와 같이 변화와 혁신의 중요성은 많은 기업이 인지하면서도 이러한 변화와 혁신의 잠재력을 측정하기는 쉽지 않으나 VIQ를 활용하여 기업의 현재 혁신역량을 진단하고 향후 대응방안을 모색할 수 있다.

LabVIEW 를 활용한 실시간 렌즈 사출성형 공정상태 진단 시스템 개발 (Development of Real-Time Condition Diagnosis System Using LabVIEW for Lens Injection Molding Process)

  • In this paper, a real-time condition diagnosis system for the lens injection molding process is developed through the use of LabVIEW. The built-in-sensor (BIS) mold, which has pressure and temperature sensors in their cavities, is used to capture real-time signals. The measured pressure and temperature signals are processed to obtain features such as maximum cavity pressure, holding pressure and maximum temperature by the feature extraction algorithm. Using those features, an injection molding condition diagnosis model is established based on a response surface methodology (RSM). In the real-time system using LabVIEW, the front panels of the data loading and setting, feature extraction and condition diagnosis are realized. The developed system is applied in a real industrial site, and a series of injection molding experiments are conducted. Experimental results show that the average real-time condition diagnosis rate is 96%, and applicability and validity of the developed real-time system are verified.

A Heuristic Methodology for Fault Diagnosis using Statistical Patterns

  • Process fault diagnosis is a complicated matter because quality control problems can result from a variety of causes. These causes include problems with electrical components, mechanical components, human errors, job justification errors, and air conditioning influences. In order to make the system run smoothly with minimum delay, it is necessary to suggest heuristic remedies for the detected faults. Hence, this paper describes a heuristic methodology of fault diagnosis that is performed using statistical patterns generated by quality characteristics The proposed methodology is described briefly as follows: If a sample pattern generated by random variables is similar to the number of prototype patterns, the sample pattern may be matched by any prototype pattern among them to be resembled. This concept is based on the similarity between a sample pattern and the matched prototype pattern. The similarity is calculated as the weighted average of squared deviation, which is expressed as the difference between the relative values of standard normal distribution to be transformed by the observed values of quality characteristics in a sample pattern and the critical values of the corresponding ones in a matched prototype pattern.

실시간 공정 데이터와 통계적 방법에 기반한 이상진단 (On-line Process Data-driven Diagnostics Using Statistical Techniques)

  • 생산 공정의 다변량 데이터에 기반한 지능적 공정 감시 및 진단 시스템은 조업의 안정성과 고품질의 제품을 달성하고 경쟁력을 유지하기 위해서는 필수적인 업무 중 하나로 간주되고 있는데, 이와 같은 추세는 공정 이상이 발생하는 경우 안정적이고 경제적인 조업에 큰 영향을 미치는 것에 기인한다. 본 연구에서는 다변량 공정 데이터에 기반한 진단기법을 제시하고 이를 시뮬레이션 공정 데이터를 활용하여 그 성능을 평가하고자 한다. 또한 원 데이터의 전처리 과정의 유무와 비선형 방법론의 활용이 진단 성능에 마치는 영향을 시뮬레이션 공정에서 제시된 15개의 공정 이상에 대해 평가하였다. 그 결과 제안된 방법론이 신뢰할 만한 결과를 주었으며 다른 비교 방법론인 전처리 과정이 없거나 선형 방법론을 사용한 타 방법론 대비 우월한 성능을 보여주었다. 제시된 방법론은 공정 데이터에 기반한 방법론으로서 공정에 대한 수학적 모델이나 지식 모델에 비하여 상대적으로 모델링이 간편하며 공정 데이터의 잡음에 강건하다는 장점을 가진다.

  • In this paper, a fault diagnosis method is proposed for self-diagnostics of PLC(Programmable Logic Controller), process controller in industrial fields, and diagnosis of its external devices such as sensors and actuators. The aim of this research is proposition of systematic method of fault diagnosis of PLC control system and development of its equipment. A PLC fault diagnosis algorithm consists of self-diagnostics given by PLC makers, Inpuot/Output tracking method by analyzing sequence PLC programs, searching method of past fault cases in database using an expert system, and diagnosis of PLC units such as CPU, DI, and DO board. Finally usability of PLC fault diagnostic system is verified by testing a MELSEC PLC.
