Array Sensing Using Electromagnetic Method for Detection of Smelting in Submerged Arc Furnaces

  • In this paper, we propose an array sensing detection method for smelting of submerged arc furnaces (SAF) based on electromagnetic radiation. AC magnetic field generated by electrode currents and molten currents in the furnace is reflected outside of the furnace. According to the spatial distribution of electromagnetic field a radiation model of SAF is built. We design a 3D magnetic field sensing array system in order to collect the magnetic field information. Through the collected information, the current distribution characteristics of SAF are described and the key parameters of smelting are obtained. Theoretical simulation and field test show that the curves acquired by the sensing array can accurately reflect the information of the relative displacement when the relative displacement between the array and electrode is 10 cm. Compared with the detection method of 3D single point, the proposed array sensing method of magnetic field obtains better results in terms of real-time and accuracy, and has good practical value for industrial measurement.

  • The air-conditioning industry is closely related to types of lifestyles, climate, and products. With the improvement of national income, the pursuit of pleasant living and working environments, and South Korea's four seasons and distinct climatic conditions, demand for air conditioning has increased. In addition, the industry is becoming increasingly precise and cooperative, and the increase in the domestic production of sophisticated air conditioning and continued growth of future industrial cooperation are expected to rapidly rise. Accordingly, the study of air piping systems can improve the productivity and quality of products and cost savings and can achieve vibration reduction. Additionally, using a heat treatment furnace for copper tube annealing treatment reduces the risk of using an oxy-acetylene torch.

모형소각로의 촉매에 의한 배기가스 정화특성에 관한 연구 (A study on the pollutant reduction using catalyst in model furnace)

  • In proportion to the increase of industrial development, emission troubles were concerned as global issue. For these reasons, so many researchers and associated institutes effort to reduce pollution with new technology and various devices. As a kind of these methods, we used catalysts as a after-treatment system. At first, we made equipment of model furnace. And various catalysts were equipped at exhaust duct of combustion system, and excess air ratio(a), change cell numbers catalyst materials(Pt, Pd) were changed as experimental conditions. With these various condition, temperature. NOx, CO, HC, $CO_2$ and $O_2$ concentration were measured. As a result, NOx conversion increased with increasing of cell number in Pd catalyst. And Pt catalyst became 100% conversion at 200 and 300 cell. Also, Pt catalyst was better than Pd catalyst at a=1.5 in this condition. In addition, CO and HC concentrations were decreased at a = 1.5 with Pd catalyst.

  • Ultrafine particles have been widely used in many high technology industrial areas. The spherical nonagglomerated and uniform nanometer-size SiO$_2$particles are synthesized by the direct injection of TEOS(Tetraethyorthosilicate) using electro-hydrodynamic spraying method. Electro-hydrodynamic spraying can generate submicron-size TEOS droplets having high electric charges by applying a high electric field between the liquid injection nozzle and the reaction tube. These TEOS droplets are evaporated, and thermally decomposed or oxidized to produce nanometresized SiO$_2$particles in the reaction tube. Spherical, nonagglomerated and ultrafine particles are generated in various conditions and examined by using SEM and SMPS. As the total gas flow rate in the furnace changes from 1.5 lpm, the mean diameter of SiO$_2$particle decreases from 120 nm to 68 nm. The synthesized particle charging fractions are also investigated.

  • Recently in the construction industry there has been an increasing use of increasing replacement of cement with blast furnace slag cement(BS), an industrial by-product, to reduce environment load and production costs, and other increasing uses of BS cement. However in the case of BS being delivered in RMC factories, only score reports submitted when the are delivered are relied upon and ways to test the quality of fineness is inadequate. Therefore this study gave many changes to various cements and BS fineness to test the variations of BS as a cement, then used the correlation between this and the density value in the Hydrometer method to test the possibility for rapid appraisal of quality fineness of BS cement. Results showed that if the one fifth graph of the density and fineness correlation were to be used, a rapid appraisal of BS cement fineness quality would be possible.

  • Recently, the reason of using foamed concrete is for core of panel, filler of construction material to give lightness. However, cement causes environmental problem. The cement generates CO2 but we normally use cement during manufacturing foamed concrete. Accordingly, this study focuses on dynamic properties of matrix according to the addition ratio of paper ash to make lightweight matrix with blast furnace slag and paper ash which are industrial by-product. The experiment progessed in order to select th optimum mixing ratio of the blast furnace slag and paper ash. There are totally 7 levels such as B100:P0, B95:P5, B90:P10, B85:P15, B80:P20, B75:P25, B70:P30 in this study. As a result of the test, B95:P5 matrix has the best density and compressive strength.

  • 본 연구에서는 산업부산물을 이용한 저시멘트계 지반개량재의 강도특성을 고찰하였다. 저시멘트계 지반개량재는 시멘트의 일정부분을 대표적인 포졸란 물질인 고로슬래그, 플라이애쉬, 석고 등의 산업부산물과 활성제를 이용하여 대체함으로써 제조하였다. 일축압축강도 실험을 통하여 포졸란 물질의 반응성을 고찰하였으며 최적의 강도를 나타내는 구성조합을 도출하였다. 실험결과 시멘트의 사용량을 감소시키고 적절한 량의 산업부산물과 활성제를 첨가한 결과 강도가 증가하고 시료구조가 밀실화 되는 것을 확인할 수 있었다.

  • 본 연구에서는 각종 산업부산물(플라이애시 2종, 페트로 코크스 연소 유동층 보일러 애시 및 고로 슬래그 미분말)을 활용한 싱크홀 복구용 경량 충전재 제조에 관한 연구를 수행하였다. 이를 위해 혼합물 실험계획법을 적용하여 산업부산물의 배합비에 따른 혼합 원료 물성(압축강도) 거동을 검토하였고, 상용프로그램인 MINITAB을 사용하여 통계적 분석을 하였다. 산업부산물의 배합조건별 압축강도는 고로 슬래그 미분말에 강한 의존성을 나타냈으며, 압축강도(3일 재령)는 고로 슬래그 미분말 사용량에 3~11MPa 수준이며, 유동층 보일러 플라이애시의 사용은 압축강도 발현에 미치는 영향이 가장 적은 것으로 평가되었다. 그리고 혼합물 실험계획에 따른 원료 배치 1조건에 대해서 기포 콘크리트를 제조하여 압축강도와 투수계수를 측정하였으며, 이때 부피비중 0.9~1.0, 겉보기 기공률은 30~50% 수준, 압축강도(3일 재령)는 1~2MPa 수준, 투수계수는 $10^{-2}{\sim}10^{-3}cm/sec$ 수준이다.

마이크로웨이브 가열이 황철석의 상변환과 Fe 용출에 미치는 효과 (The Effect of Microwave Heating on the Mineralogical Phase Transformation of Pyrite and Fe Leaching)

  • 전기로와 마이크로웨이브에 노출시킨 황철석 시료에 대하여 광물학적 상변화를 파악하고 Fe 최대 용출 인자들을 결정하고자 하였다. 전기로에 노출시킨 시료에서 적철석으로 구성된 가장자리 구조가 나타난 반면에 마이크로웨이브에 노출시킨 시료는 적철석과 자류철석이 가장자리 구조로 나타났다. 특히 마이크로웨이브에 노출시킨 시료는 결정 내부에 아크방전에 의하여 수많은 크랙들이 서로 연결되어 형성되었지만 전기로에 노출시킨 시료는 크랙이 형성되지 않았다. XRD 분석에서, 전기로에 노출시킨 시료는 황철석과 적철석이 나타났지만 마이크로웨이브에 노출시킨 시료는 황철석, 적철석 및 자류철석이 나타났다. 황철석 시료에 대하여 암모니아 용출실험을 수행하여 Fe 용출률이 최대로 나타나는 인자들은 -325 mesh 입도, 2.0 M의 황산, 1.5 M의 황산암모늄, 1.0 M의 과산화수소 농도에서였다. 용출률이 최대로 나타나는 인자들을 전기로에 그리고 마이크로웨이브 노출 시료에 각각 적용한 결과 전기로 보다 마이크로웨이브에 노출시킨 시료에서 Fe 용출률이 더 많이 그리고 더 빠른 시간에 나타났다. 따라서 산업광물에 포함된 Fe 제거에 혹은 금을 함유하는 황철석 분해에 마이크로웨이브 가열이 효과적일 것으로 사료된다.
