  • This stduy aimed to suggest a possible way for a new setting of interior design education through analyzing educational situations of domestic interior design societies. The study showed that interior design education should not follow expressive methods made from practical work which had been popular in the past and it should establish fundamental formation to make interior design education useful in industrial fields through active educationalindustrial complex. Interior design education is not possible without interrelationship with other professional fields and cooperative attitudes among them. The rapid development in the modern industrial world and the ever-growing information processing world regardless of ideology and regiional boundaries indicate that the future of interior design education will be no longer effective with traditional education systems. The idea suggested in this study may be understood as a bridge between the educational reality and its ideal in interior design teaching. The main points of the study are follows. First, the projects of advanced interior design should be focused on increasing the ability for problem solving rather than accumulating basic knowledge. Second, motivation is important for the maximization of the efficiency of educatiov. Therefore a few suggestions in establishing design conditions, as strategies of inducing 'attention', 'self-confidence', 'satisfaction', and 'relevance' are closely examined to propose practical application methods. Third, educational methods should be developed towards creativity in order to increase abilities of thinking and expressiov. Finally, it is necessary to explore various device which help internship participants to get experiences with a sense of practical situations in industrial fields. This could be possibly done by enforcing academic grades for the work done as an internship participation; by employing workmen in industrial fields as faculty members; and by bringing faculty members into actual industrial situations and providing workmen with lectures. A new approach for a better design education seems to be desirable for the future.

  • Though safety signs are important since they transmit hazard information even after diverse accident prevention treatments, their functional effectiveness were never tested in Korea so that even those provided by Occupational Safety & Health Act(OSHAct) could not accomplish their objectives, "effective accident prevention", This research was carried out to understand confronted problems and improvement direction for safety signs provided by OSHAct. For them, current safety signs were analyzed with a semiotic view on one hand, and a questionnaire survey was conducted with safety-related people in industrial fields on the other hand. To summarize problems in semiotic aspects, geometric simplicity of pictograms in safety signs seemed to be so emphasized that they might fail to induce realistic action, and their esthetic sensation seemed to be lower than those of developed countries. And according to present questionnaire survey, it was pointed out that; 1) legal systems related with safety signs were not classified appropriately, 2) safety signs were recognized as difficult to understand and inapplicable to industrial fields, and eventually 3) safety signs were not effectively utilized for industrial accident prevention. Therefore, discussions for improving confronted problems and relation to international standards were added at the end.

  • In this paper, we consider a criterion on primitive roots modulo p where p is the prime of the form $p=2^kq+1$, q odd prime. For such p we also consider the least primitive root modulo p. Also, we deal with certain isomorphism classes of elliptic curves over finite fields.

  • Discovery of association rules has been used useful in many fields, especially in the fields of the inventory display, catalog design and cross selling. In previous works, all transactions In the database are treated uniformly. In this paper, we present a method for partitioning transactions in the database using time weights. Transactions are assigned different weights as time goes on. Examples show that these method provides purchasing patterns in the database as well as finding association rules.

  • Cyanobacteria are present abundantly in rice fields and are important in helping to maintain rice fields fertility through nitrogen fixation. Many rice fields soil contain a high density of cyanobactera, and over 50% of cyanobacterial genera that are in existence in rice paddy fields are heterocystous filamentous forms. A total of 142 isolates of heterocystous filamentous cyanobacteria were screened from 100 soil samples taken from rice paddy fields in 10 different locations across Korea, classified according to their morphological characteristics under light microscopy, and their susceptibly to fungicides examined. The collected blue-green alga were classified into a total of 14 genera, including seven genera of filamentous cyanobacteria and seven genera of nonfilamentous cyanobacteria. In particular, 142 heterocystous filamentous cyanobacteria were isolated and classified into six genera, including Anabaena, Nostoc, Calothrix, Cylindrospermum, Nodularia, Scytomena, and Tolypotrix. Yet, over 90% of the heterocystous filamentous cyanobacteria isolated from the rice paddy fields belonged to two genera: Anabaena and Nostoc. The response of 129 $N_2-fixing$ cyanobacterial isolates, 53 Anabaena and 76 Nostoc, to 10 fungicides was then investigated. The results showed that the Nostoc spp. were more tolerant of the ten tested fungicides than the Anabaena spp., and among the ten tested fungicides, benomyl showed the highest acute toxicity to Anabaena spp. and Nostoc spp. In conclusion, although benomyl is a very useful agent to control phytopathogenic fungi, the application of this fungicide to rice fields should be considered because of its toxicity to the heterocystous filamentous cyanobacteria.

  • The purpose of this study is to contemplate the environmental change of the fourth industrial revolution in viewpoint of SME, and to analyze the relevance between the fourth industrial revolution and SME, thereby reviewing the governmental supporting policy for SME. Promising fields of the fourth industrial revolution can be derived from WEF survey, manufacturing innovation, and new growth engine. Also the case of GE's movement could be a good reference. We explored the relevance between the fourth industrial revolution and SME supporting policy, and described the suitability as SME's next item among the various promising fields. When extracting new business items by using the factor of prospective and appropriate conditions, both types such as product or service and subordinate or derivative items would be possible. For the proper action to the fourth industrial revolution, not only the competence enhancing of SME itself but also positive supporting policy of government side are to be considered.

  • Purpose - Transnational corporations (TNCs) have influenced drastic changes (financial services, manufacturing, labor, technology transfer) in Central Eastern Europe (CEE). This paper examines the indirect changes in the CEE pattern of industrial development and market distribution. Research design, data, and methodology - Over 25 years, neighboring (or rival) countries competed to attract TNCs as a double-edged strategy for privatization and debt reduction. Through their experience attracting foreign direct investment (FDI), many countries started to reflect aspects of national capitalism. Countries also began to realize in 2010 that TNCs sought to enter markets with more favorable conditions for export-oriented manufacturing. Results - The analysis reveals that TNC investment strategies were aimed at eliminating local competition to acquire industrial "brown fields" to convert into "green fields." CEE countries have since strengthened their national systems and the support of large-scale state-owned enterprises and small and medium-sized start-up enterprises. Conclusions - CEE has changed based on industrial development and a regional structure of TNC market distribution and associated government policies. The pattern toward flexible markets gives countries the ability to further their economies.

  • The applications of information and communication technology (ICT) into real industrial fields are getting great attentions in recent years. More and more industrial practitioners and scientific researchers are conducting studies and trying to adopt the technologies into diverse industrial fields. The purpose of this study is to review the technologies such as big data and smart sensors and to provide application cases in order to facilitate grafting the 4th industrial revolutionary technologies onto the safety and health systems. Based on the comprehensive reviews on literature, reports, and industrial cases, we found that big data technology has been used in industries for investigating work related disease. In addition, digital image technology and drone have been applied to establish safety system in construction industry. Lastly, some companies have tried to apply the technologies to build their own safety and health system.
