  • The Shortley-Weller method is a basic finite difference method for solving the Poisson equation with Dirichlet boundary condition. In this article, we review the analysis for supra-convergence of the Shortley-Weller method. Though consistency error is first order accurate at some locations, the convergence order is globally second order. We call this increase of the order of accuracy, supra-convergence. Our review is not a simple copy but serves a basic foundation to go toward yet undiscovered analysis for another supra-convergence: we present a partial result for supra-convergence for the gradient of solution.

  • This study aims to investigate industry needs for convergence education in the field of nano-technology, bio-technology, robot, and design. Firstly, the area of convergence technology in nano-tech, bio-tech, robot, and design fields was examined through the literature review and case study. The areas were validated by the experts review who consisted of four industry experts and four professors in the relevant fields. Second, a questionnaire was developed for investigating industry's needs on convergence education. The questionnaire consisted of three parts: 1) awareness of necessity for convergence education, 2) the needs for convergence new technology education from the perspective of industry, and 3) opinions on convergence education. The questionnaire was validated by three engineering education experts. Third, the survey was conducted in cooperation with the Sector Council of Industrial Resources. A total of 400 respondents responded to the questionnaires: 98 in the nano-technology field, 74 in the design field, 58 in the robotics field, and 170 in the bio-technology field. Fourth the industry needs for convergence education were analyzed and implications were suggested. The results of this study are expected to provide a guideline for developing convergence education programs in higher education.

  • Recent theoretical analysis of numerical methods for solving nonlinear systems of equations is represented by alpha theory of Newton method developed Smale et al. The theory was extended to Secant method by providing convergence conditions by Yakoubsohn which the Secant method is treated as an operator defined for analytical functions. We use Secant methods as an iterative scheme with approximations, which results in new convergence conditions. We compare the two conditions and show that the new conditions represent the features of Secant method in a more precise way.

  • In this paper, we develop business models for the robot industry that facilitates to explore new business opportunities in the convergence age. Considering the trend of convergence society, we analyze the market drivers. Analyzing market dynamics and value chain, we design a set of the business model for the robot industry focused on u-health robots. In addition, we describe the evolution path of the proposed business model in terms of technology development and market. Finally, we develop a framework for evaluating the effectiveness of the business model.

  • A chameleonic surface proposed in this study was a pin-art and 3D display device for generating arbitrary shapes. A smooth and continuous surface was formed using slim telescopic actuators and high-elasticity composite material. Realistic 3D shapes were continuously generated by projecting dynamic mapping images on the surface. A slim telescopic actuator was designed to show long strokes and minimize area for staking. A 3D shape was formed by thrusting and extruding the high-elasticity material using multiple telescopic actuators. This structure was advantageous for generating arbitrary continuous surface, projecting dynamic images and lightening weight. Because of real-time synchronization, a distributed controller based on EtherCAT was applied to operate hundreds of telescopic actuators smoothly. Integrated operating software consecutively generated realistic scenes by coordinating extruded shapes and projecting 3D image from multiple projectors. An opera content was optimized for the chameleon surface and showed to an audience in an actual concert.

  • This study seeks to measure inter-industry convergence systematically and quantitatively using structural holes theory. ICT industries were classified into ICT manufacturing and ICT service then efficiency and constraints were calculated using input-output tables. The results of the study revealed both ICT industries have very high information and control benefits in the process of industrial convergence, proving to be key industries with competitive advantage. Further implications were presented based on comparative analysis between ICT manufacturing and service and trend analysis over the past 15 years.

  • In this study, novel quaternary plastomers consisting of ethylene, 1-hexene, high ${\alpha}$-olefin, and divinylbenzene were prepared using Zr metallocene catalyst, borate type cocatalyst, and tri-isobutylaluminium. The molar ratio changes of 1-hexene and high ${\alpha}$-olefin (1-octene, 1-decene, and 1-dodecene) had an effect on the properties of the quaternary plastomers. The structure of the quaternary plastomers was characterized using $^1H$ NMR. Molecular weight properties, crystallinity, and thermal properties of the plastomers were determined by GPC, WAXS, and DMA, respectively. Compared with the terpolymers prepared in our previous study, molecular weight and molecular weight distribution of the quaternary polymers were very similar, whereas glass transition temperature ($T_g$) was very low. Also, hardness and tensile properties of the quaternary plastomers were measured.
