  • In order to cultivate the talents acquired in the fourth industrial revolution, developed countries' government are actively engaged in the campaigns encouraging K-12 students to participate in the maker movement. Maker education is regarded as one possible solution based on high tech in the era of the 4th Industrial Revolution, and it is spreading widely along with STEM education. In South Korea, STEAM education was actively conducted nationwide, and since 2017, STEAM and maker education have been linked showing mutual development. However, compared to STEAM education linked to the curriculum, comparison and activity-based research on maker education for teenagers is still insufficient. Therefore, this study aimed to suggest implications for STEAM education and maker education by analyzing the motivation of Korean youth to participate in maker activities. The subjects of this study are high school students who participated in maker education programs in student community for the first time in Korea. In this study, students were classified into engineering-related career group and non-engineering-related career groups based on their career intentions, and the motivation and understanding of participation in maker activities were compared. As a result of the study, male students participated more in maker education community activities than female students, and the engineering-related career group had a higher intention to participate in games, outdoor activities, IT equipment, digital production, and electrical/electronic production activities than the non-engineering-related career group. In addition, in the fields of handicraft/art, home baking, installing, and horticultural agriculture, there was no difference in the intention of participate in the engineering-related career group and the non-engineering-related career group. It was found that the engineering-related career group believed that there was a strong relationship between the maker education community activity, career exploration and future career choice, while the non-engineering-related career group believed that the relationship is less strong. It was also found that the engineering-related career group was participating more actively in the maker activity than the other group.

  • Korea have been efforts to revitalize the national economy by concentrating for the industrialization about 60 years after the Korean war. A result of these efforts, We will enter to the advanced country as the current economic power. But, Our social structure under the Korean Confucianism cannot ecdysis, because we recognise to the academic ability rather than the competency ability. So, the current government is trying to build social skills by presenting the slogan for the ability to implement social policy. This research utilized by the Human Resources Development Service of Korea and the Ministry of Education statistics for the variables to determine the equivalence of the Korea Education and qualifications in order to achieve the government's efforts to meet the need to improve equivalency is to empirically.

  • In science and engineering programs in the U.S. in 2000 China, South Korea and India were top countries of origin sending students. More than half of the students intend to stay in the U.S. Immigration, education and occupational choices all have human capital aspects that require investments. A framework is proposed where expected incomes in both countries of origin and destination are calculated and used to reflect the substitution effect and the wealth effects of the expected incomes of two countries. It appears that nonpecuniary effects of education encourages immigration as much as pecuniary effects in the immigration decision equation. After the pecuniary effects are accounted for there is some negative nonpecuniary tendency of the professional scientists to immigrate to the U.S.

  • A significant number of all reported accidents in Korea involved education and training Based on the Labor Ministry data, statistics, show the education cause was directly involved in 38% of major accidents, Since safety managers have in charge of safety education at the factory, occupational safety curriculum must be studied to train safety manager effectively. In this study an analysis on relative importance of industrial safety curriculum for a good safety manager was performed by Analytic Hierarchy Process(AHP) The results showed that relative importance of industrial safety curriculum by AHP was safety management(w=0.240) ergonomics and system safety(w=0.201) construction safety(w=0.182) mechanic safety(w=0.139) electronic safety(w=0.134) and chemical safety(w=0.104) in order. The results could be used for industrial safety curriculum planning in university and safety organization such as Korea Occupational safety and Health Agency.

  • Design factors such as design objects establishment, analysis, synthesis, production, test and evaluation should be educated in a systematic way. Also design ability to reflect practical restrictive conditions such as industrial standards, economic feasibility, environmental impact, aesthetics, safety and reliability, ethical impacts and social impacts should be cultivated. In this paper, we explain the meaning of these terms and propose a systematic engineering design education framework satisfying Korean engineering education accreditation criteria. We also present a simple implementation in information network engineering.

  • To gain competitive advantage in a fast changing environment, the higher education institution (HEI) must continuously adjust the strategies to that environment. One important strategy is how to determine appropriate practical actions based on what students really need and want. Despite the abundance of research on service quality management, there is no universal consensus on how best to determine appropriate practical actions in HEIs. The aim of this paper is to develop an integrated model to be used to accurately acquire the most critical service attributes and determine appropriate actions that promote student satisfaction. Drawing on relevant literature, an integrated model is proposed which is based on students' perspective by integrating the fuzzy SERVQUAL, refined Kano, and Blue Ocean model. Subsequently, an empirical case study in the higher education sector is described that illustrates the value of the model in determining the most critical attributes and how to improve them.

  • This paper proposes a robot motion authoring using finger-robot interaction. The proposed method is a user friendly method that easily authors (creates and controls) robot motion according to the number of fingers. The effectiveness of the proposed motion authoring method was verified based on motion authoring simulation of an industrial robot.
