  • This study explores the impact of a flipped classroom, in terms of self-efficacy, for elementary pre-service teachers in US teacher education programs. This research project explores how ESL microteaching activity in the flipped classroom shapes teacher-candidates' self-efficacy regarding teaching culturally and linguistically diverse (CLD) students. By analyzing ESL microteaching videos, pre-service teachers' reflection papers, and individual interviews with the course instructors, the study results show how pre-service teachers enhance their self-efficacy in teaching CLD English language learners in mainstream content subject classrooms. Moreover, the researchers provide suggestions on how teacher educators can utilize the flipped classroom to create an authentic and meaningful learning experience, such as using ESL microteaching for pre-service teachers to shape their self-efficacy in order to be well-prepared for CLD English language learners. The implication is that Korean pre-service teachers should be prepared to teach CLD students in their mainstream classrooms.

  • The purpose of this study is to research how a teaching personality and ethics in teaching affect the competence of students majoring in early childhood education. Questionnaires were distributed to 211 early childhood education students residing in I-city. For this study, frequency analysis, averages, and standard deviation were calculated by using SPSS 22.0, with Cronbach's alpha for the reliability test. To determine the relevance of each variable, correlation analysis and multiple regression analysis were done, with results as follows. First, the teaching personalities perceived most by the students were morality and educational principles. Ethics for infants and ethics for households were most perceived in the ethics of teaching; for competency, understanding of the curriculum, understanding infant protection, and learning support were perceived the most. Second, there is a statistically significant correlation among a teacher's personality, ethics, and competence. Third, the sub-factors of both personality and ethics have a positive effect on competence. The above results indicate that there should be multilateral research into students majoring in early childhood education to ensure they have correct and positive competency so they can provide high-quality early childhood education services, recognizing the importance of competence.

  • In this study, we proposed a plan to educate computer students at industrial specialized high schools about artificial intelligence programming using Raspberry Pi. To create an educational program, we received advice from experts working in schools and industries, analyzed existing research and requirements, designed weekly learning plans, developed teaching materials, and conducted classes. Due to the small number of research subjects, interviews were conducted with students, and the results of the teacher's diary were also presented to derive qualitative research results. The main interview results show that although it is true that interest in the field of artificial intelligence has increased through the class, many responded that the learning content is still difficult. The teacher's diary mainly included information about the latest trends in the industry that informatics and computer teachers should not miss out on. We hope that this study will provide an opportunity to meet the needs of the industry by increasing the proportion of artificial intelligence programming in industrial specialized high schools.

  • The purpose of this study is to identify the relationships among childcare teachers' emotional intelligence, daycare center directors' emotional leadership, and teacher-infant interactions. Also, this study examines whether a daycare center director's emotional leadership would mediate the correlation between a childcare teacher's emotional intelligence and teacher-infant interactions. A questionnaire was given to 293 childcare teachers. Using SPSS version 21.0, the data were analyzed for Pearson's correlation, hierarchical regression analysis, the Sobel-test, and the meditation effect proposed by Baron and Kenny. The findings are as follows. First, there was a positive correlation between a childcare teacher's emotional intelligence, the director's emotional leadership, and teacher-infant interactions. Second, the influence on teacher-infant interactions from directors' emotional leadership was relatively greater than childcare teachers' emotional intelligence. Finally, the emotional leadership of daycare center directors partially mediated the relationship between childcare teachers' emotional intelligence and teacher-infant interactions. This study provides significant empirical data for improving childcare.

Methods: As the first step of this research, 17 teacher efficacy factors were extracted from previous studies on related areas and a survey from directors, teachers, and professors. The preliminary 83 items applicable to the chosen factors were developed and revised through content validity test from seven early childhood professionals, pilot test, item correction, main survey, and exploratory and confirmatory factor analyses. Four hundred seventy one teachers working in a kindergarten or day care center participated in this study. Results: The teacher efficacy scale for early childhood teachers was finalized with 3 factors and 23 items. The teacher efficacy scale was composed of 16 items in teaching competence, 4 items in interpersonal relationship, and 3 items in a sense of calling. Conclusion/Implications: In this study, the valid and reliable teacher efficacy scale was developed. This scale might be a useful tool to develop the further studies in the topics of teacher efficacy and teacher education by analyzing the relationship between efficacy of early childhood teachers and other variables.
