This study, with a view point to prevent accidents arising from steel structure, construction process, has taken an approach of reviewing related materials and construction safety guidelines, conducting questionnaire surveys and on field surveys. This study has also analyzed and classified accident cases and disclosed elements concerned with those accidents. A comparative analysis of the disclosed elements against the statutory provisions regarding industrial safety and it showed that strict observance of safety rules of the accident prevention measures in industrial safety standards will result in a decrease in accidents. It is concluded, however, that additional accident prevention measures, as suggested below, should be implemented for performing of more practical and positive accident prevention. 1) Thorough review and preparation at pre-working stage at sites : Such elements of fall preventing facilely as supporting ropes and steel fabrications for safety guard rails should be initially reflected on detailed drawings and shop drawings so that they can be installed in advance at fabricating plants. 2) Sets of steel frame stairs for work platform should be installed or secured with priority and temporary installation of such prefabricated platform as scaffolds should be installed in advance with those platform attached to the frame members on the ground whenever possible before they are lifted. 3) A decrease in the rate of accident by more than 10% on Tuesdays and Thursdays, has been shown from the accident analysis so schedule of construction process should consider possible weekday of high risk of accidents such as Tuesday and Thursday. 4) An array of systemized safety activities should be adopted, such as legal installation of safety facilities based on advance safety management plan, maintenance of safety for machinery and construction equipment, and strict compliance of safety rules by workers.
Objective : The main purpose of this research is to make a survey of the effective way of the Korean traditional medical care about Industrial accidental patients. Methods : In following research, 40 cases of industrial accidental patients who hospitalized in the Dong-Shin Korean Traditional Medicine Hospital from January 1, 1996 to October 21, 2002 were surveyed. Results : 1. The highest incidence was shown in the age of twenties to fifties as much as 92.5% and the ratio of malr to female was 35:5. 2. The highest type in the industrial is professional negligences. 3. The number of patients via other hospital(82.5%) was much than that of the first visitor to our hospital(17.5%) 4. In admission motives, the patients who had been treated by western medical treatment expressed the dissatisfaction of that treatment, so hoped to be treated by oriental medical styles. 5. CVA was 47.5%, disease of sinews and bones system was 52.5%. 6. Hemiplegia(47.5%) was the most frequent out of all CVA patients symptoms, back pain(32.5%) was the commonest pain region of all the condition of sinews and bones system. 7. At first stage of admission period, Acupunture and Herb-medication was frequently prescribed for hwalhyultonglakgige, but as going to end stage was frequently used for bogi, bohyul, gudam and ansingige. 8. The treatment methods which was used for treating industrial accident was acupunture, cupping therapy, physical therapy.

As the size of construction projects has become larger in recent years, the nature of the disaster safety factors along with the progress of construction is also becoming more complex and diversified. Accordingly, the introduction of computerized construction, new technologies, and new construction methods has resulted in a variety of risk factors in the process and operations, and many new safety construction methods are being tried. Since the construction industry has variable working environments and constantly changes working methods and components depending on the rate of progress, workers at construction sites are always exposed to risk depending on the specific circumstances of the construction industry. This study attempts to collect and analyze major accident cases generated by major accident construction projects as a result of progress in construction work, and to derive the major causes and causes for each safety management activity that affect safety accidents.
Objective: This study proposes a systematic process to present the analysis methods and solutions of organizational root causes to human errors on the railroad. Background: In fact, organizational root cause such as organizational culture is an important factor in the safety concerns on human errors in the nuclear power plant, railroad and aircraft. Method: The proposed process is as follows: 1) define analysis boundary 2) select human error taxonomy 3) perform accident analysis 4) draw root causes with FGI 5) review root causes analysis with survey 6) chart analysis of root causes, and 7) propose alternatives and solutions. Results: As a result, root causes of the organizations like railroad and nuclear power plant came from the educational problems, violations, payoff system, safety culture and so forth. Conclusion: The proposed process does predict potential railroad accident through retrospect error analysis by building new human error taxonomies and problem solution. Application: This study would contribute to examination of the relationship between human error-based accidents and organizational root causes.
Notorious press machine bothers employers by causing so many industrial accidents which are mostly of caught-in or between type. In 2008, press machines caused 1665 cases of such type of accidents, which reached about 11% of all those. Even though various approaches has been adopted to prevent those press machine accidents, up to now, no one was found to be satisfactory. In this study, two kinds of companies, accident-occurred and accident-free by press machine, were surveyed to find out positive and negative factors for accidents prevention. 400 companies which experienced accidents in 2008 and 200 companies which did not experience accident at all during the same period were selected for this survey. Most of these companies are small companies that employ less than 50 employees. Even though small companies are exempted from legal obligations to have a safety management system for accident prevention, we surveyed about safety management systems of those companies because of its crucial importance for accident prevention including whether they appointed safety managers and various supervisors. Awareness and efforts for safety of employers and employees were also measured. Results were analysed by the method of cross tabulation analysis. Main findings of this study are as follows. Most accident-occurred companies did not appoint any safety manager or supervisor. While it is recommended that the workplace of high accident rate have a safety manager. In addition, as less employers' effort for safety was made in accident-occurred companies in order to prevent accidents during press processing, the author proposes an amendment to the relevant law. Finally, the most referred reason for the negligence of hazard is the cumbersomeness in installing safeguards.
The purpose of this study was to show the occurrences of musculoskeletal disease in aging society and basic information on developments of a systematic prevention program and proposed management measures needed to prevent the disease. The Korea Occupational Safety & Health Agency has analyzed cases of industrial accidents that cause musculoskeletal disease, from 1998 to 2007. They found 30,439 people suffering from the disease during those ten years. This information is from the Ministry of Labor's industrial accident analysis and the industrial accident survey from the Korea Occupational Safety & Health Agency. The data was analyzed by age and industrial classification. In Korea, according to the studies on aging society, the occurrence of musculoskeletal disease in elderly employee's have increased, so prevention programs are needed. Psychological, mental and cognitive programs are needed, as well as other prevention programs to ensure health in old age. In this study, we were able to see the state of musculoskeletal disease in aging society and the countermeasures to prevent the disease, such as a universal design, guarantees, and recuperation services. Later, we found that studying the various elderly patients would be of great help to us.
The number of elevators in Korea has surpassed 700,000 units in 2019, which is the 8th in the world by number of installed units and 3rd in the world by new units. The word 'lift' is a representative word, and the category includes elevators, escalators, dumb waiters, and moving walks. Those who live in the city will experience using elevators once or twice a day, and these elevators are becoming an indispensable means of transportation when using high-rise apartments or subways. However, such a convenient elevator also has a lot of risks that threaten the safety of the user and actually cause many accidents every year. In particular, escalators (including moving walks), which account for as little as 5% of all elevators, account for 70% of all elevator accidents. According to Heinrich's chain of thought theory, accidents are caused by a combination of factors, which are divided into five stages: Stage 1: Genetic Factors and Social Environment, Stage 2: Individual Defects, Stage 3: Unsafe behavior and Unsafe conditions, Stage 4: Accident, Stage 5: Injury. Heinrich said that three of these five phases, unsafe behavior and unsafe conditions, require safety management and efforts to prevent accidents. In escalator accidents, the analysis of accident cases that have occurred so far will be related to unsafe behaviors and unsafe conditions, and the effective management of these causes of accidents will enable safer and more convenient use of escalators. This study analyzed accident cases of elevator users, focusing on escalator accidents over the last 10 years (2010 ~ 2019), and safety management to prevent safety accidents of elevator users by analyzing the behavior of actual users and questionnaires of experts in related fields. The method was studied.
Purpose: In South Korea, two kinds of mandatory insurance, Fierce Liability Insurance and Outdoor Advertising Liability Insurance sells as of February 2021 according to relevant codes. This study analyzed third party liability and personal living liability insurance in terms of various risks not corporation side but personal side arising from normal living and life. Research design, data and methodology: Some cases of drone accident hit man and fierce dog accident were taken into analysis to verify blame ratio and insurance claim money. The former case is that on the way down the elevator, the dog, American pit bull terrier rushed in and bit the lower part of the knee against the visitor. The latter case is that while flying in the sky as usual, the drone suddenly crashed, fell, and hit the head of a young child while walking on the street. Further previous studies such as third party liabilities, liability insurance, mandatory insurance were deeply analyzed. Results: Based on some case studies and previous studies, the author suggested valuable comments in turn realization of insurer as provider, exhaustive creation and operation of mandatory insurance, realization of insured as demanded, and arrangements of laws and systems in special consideration of amendment of companion animal and exhaustive execution of mandatory insurance by the government. Conclusions: This study was about third party liability, personal living liability insurance and expansion of mandatory insurance caused by relevant laws by the government. In this study the author verified what issues were observed from two cases drone accident and fierce dog accident and then suggested some valuable comment as above both systemic plans and practical plans. First of all, the individual should get Comprehensive Property Insurance(CPI) that covers the risks of his/her own property arising from the everyday life. And then the individual should further buy Personal Living Liability Insurance(PLLI) in order to prepare 'accidents that may happen when, where, or how' and overcome the said accidents. Moreover, the individual should take a look every single insurance contract whether he/she has a special terms and conditions of Personal Living Liability Insurance(PLLI) or not.
Purpose: In order to reduce industrial accidents caused by forklift trucks, it is actually necessary to analyze the causes of accidents. This study aims to present disaster prevention measures by analyzing accident cases by forklift accident type. Method: For the analysis of industrial accidents, including serious industrial accidents caused by forklifts from 2021 to 2022, accident statistics from the Korea Occupational Safety and Health Agency were used to analyze accidents in four types. Result: In the last two years, the total number of victims, including deaths and other serious injuries, was 2,559, which was 1,396 in 2021 and 1,163 in 2022. Disaster prevention measures were presented for industrial accidents by size and occurrence type of equipment that cause serious industrial accidents in which more than 1,000 people are injured annually. Conclusion: It is necessary to expand the number of workers subject to the forklift financial support project to less than 100. It is necessary to amend the proviso on boarding restrictions in Article 86, Paragraph 7 of the 「Regulations on Industrial Safety and Health Standards」. It is mandatory to install front and rear cameras. It is necessary to install driving-linked safety belts. It is necessary to install line beams obligatory. It is necessary to expand the subject of forklift special safety and health education to workplaces that have more than one forklift truck, and it is necessary to redesignate the training hours to 16 hours every year.
Objective: The aim of this study is to reclassify human errors and to develop hands-on tools to apply the new classification for preventing human error accidents in highway construction site. Background: The main cause of accidents in highway construction was reported as the carelessness of workers. However, such diagnosis could not help us operationally prevent accidents in real workplace. Method: The accidents in highway construction were reanalyzed and the causes of human error were reclassified in order to educate and improve the awareness of human error in highway construction. Field survey and interview with safety managers and workers were conducted to find the causal relationship between the actual accidents and the human errors. Results: The most frequently observed human errors in highway construction were classified into six categories such as mis-perception, distraction, memory fail, slip, cognition error and mis-judgment. In order to provide hands-on tools to increase the awareness of human error in construction field, the human error checklist and card sorting diary were developed. Especially, the card sorting diary was designed to increase the ability in human error inspection of safety manager at construction site. Moreover, posters were developed based on actual accident cases. Conclusion: We suggested that the improved awareness and analytical report on checklist, card sorting diary and posters for construction field could collectively prevent the accident. Application: The classification of human error, hands-on tools and posters can be directly applicable on highway construction site. This analytical and collective approach preventing human error-related accident could be extended to other construction workplaces.
