Application of matrix converter to vector control of induction motor using simplified Venturini algorithm which is capable of achieving the maximum output voltage is developed. This algorithm simplifies the control algorithm and therefor reduces the digital implementation time. Matrix converter is used as voltage-referenced voltage fed vector controlled induction motor drive. This paper describes the performance of vector controlled induction motor with four quadrant capability employing a matrix converter power circuit. The advantage of this system over the conventional rectifier-inverter arrangement are capability for regeneration into the utility, sinusoidal supply currents and minimum passive components. The steady-state and transient performance of the induction motor drive under the vector control technique is demonstrate with simulation and experiment results.

The wound induction motor can provide high starting torque and reduced starting current simultaneously by inserting large scale resistor. And this technique is one of the well known methods among the induction motor starting methods and generally used for heavy load starting such as Crain and Cement factories. The conventional PI controller has been widely used in industrial application due to the simple control algorithm and in general, PI controller is used for control of current, torque, position, and speed for the wound induction motor drive system. However, the system may result in poor performance since sensors have to be used, which in turn is limited by the environmental condition. Recently, to overcome these problems, many sensorless vector control methods for the wound induction motor have been studied. This paper presents MRAS method with on-line stator resistance tuning for sensorless vector control of the wound induction motor drive. In conventional MRAS method, in low frequency, stator resistance variation can result in poor performance. Therefore, to overcome several shortages of the conventional MRAS caused by parameter variation and enhance robustness of the sensor less vector control, this paper investigates a MRAS method with on-line stator resistance tuning for sensorless vector control of the wound induction motor. The validity and effectiveness of the proposed method is verified through digital simulation.

The paper is proposed artificial neural network(ANN) sensorless control of induction motor drive with fuzzy learning control-fuzzy neural network(FLC-FNN) controller. The hybrid combination of neural network and fuzzy control will produce a powerful representation flexibility and numerical processing capability. Also this paper is proposed. speed control of induction motor using FLC-FNN and estimation of speed using ANN controller. The back Propagation neural network technique is used to provide a real time adaptive estimation of the motor speed. The error between the desired state variable and the actual one is back-propagated to adjust the rotor speed so that the actual state variable will coincide with the desired one. The proposed control algorithm is applied to induction motor drive system controlled FLC-FNN and ANN controller, Also, this paper is proposed the analysis results to verify the effectiveness of the FLC-FNN and ANN controller.

This paper proposes the novel V/f control method to improve the stability of a V/f controlled induction motor drive system. The conventional V/f control method used in the proposed V/f control method is a vector-based method that is slightly different from the existing conventional V/f control method. The proposed control method uses a dynamic current compensator to improve the stability of a V/f controlled induction motor drive system. This proposed method is easy to implement and completely eliminates the motor oscillation phenomenon causing the instability of a V/f controlled induction motor drive system, especially when the system is driven near the resonant frequency in steady-state with light load. Additionally, this paper analyzes theoretically the instability of a V/f controlled induction motor drive system and shows the validity of the Proposed V/f control method through simulation and experimental results.

In recent years, a.c servo motors have been gradually replacing d.c sevo motors in various high-performance demanded aplications such as machine tools and industrial robots. In particular, the high-performance slip-frequency control of an induction motor, which is often called the vector control, is considered one of the best a.c drive. In this paper, the transient state equation and vector control algrithms of an induction motor are described mathematically by using the two-axis theory(d-q coordinates). According to the result of these algorithms, we scheme the speed control system for an induction type ac servo motor in which vector control is adopted to give tha a.c motor high performance. Motor drive is a PWM inverter using power MOS-FET, and is controlled in order to let the actual input current of the motor track the current reference obtained from a microcomputer(8086 cpu). Driving experiments are performed in the range of 0 to 3000 rpm, and it is verified that high speed response is possible.

This paper presents the control algorithm for maximum efficiency drives of an induction motor system with the high dynamic performance. This system uses a simple model of the induction motor that includes equations of iron losses. The model, which only requires the parameters of induction motor, is referred to a field-oriented frame. The minimum point of the input power can be obtained at the steady state condition. The reference torque and flux currents for the vector control of induction motors are calculated by the optimal efficiency control algorithm. The drive system with the proposed efficiency optimization controller has been implemented by a 32 bit floating point TMS320C32 DSP chip. The results show the effectiveness of the control strategy proposed for the induction motor drive.

The single phase induction motor has been commonly applied to small-sized electrical appliances because of its low cost, but it has low efficiency and large torque ripple, and it is incapable of speed control. However, two-phase induction motors have small torque ripple, high efficiency and variable speed control, because they are inverter fed. In this paper, the dynamic characteristics of the two-phase induction motor, such as the torque ripple, current and speed, are analyzed by using the time-stepping finite element method, and compared with the cage-type single phase induction motor.
Generally PI controller is used to control the speed of an induction motor. It has the good performance of speed control in case of adjusting the control parameters. But it occurred the problem to change the control parameters in the change of operation condition. In order to solve this problem, Fuzzy control or Artificial neural network is introduced in the speed control of an induction motor. However, Fuzzy control have the problems as the difficulties to change the membership function and fuzzy rule and the remaining error. Also Neural network has the problem as the difficulties to analyze the behavior of inner part. Therefore, the study on the combination of two controller is proceeded. In this paper, Speed controller of an induction motor based fuzzy-neural network is proposed and the speed control of an induction motor is performed using the proposed controller. Through the experiment, the fast response and good stability of the proposed speed controller is proved.

The paper presents a speed control system of vector controlled induct- ion motor using neural networks. The main feature of proposed speed control system is a Neural Network Controller(NNC) which supplies torque current to induction motor and Neural Network Emulator(NNE) which captures the forward dynamics of induction motor. A back propagation training algorithm is employed to train the NNE and NNC. In order to determine the NNC output error, plant(induction motor) output error can be back propagated through the NNE. The NNC and NNE for speed control of vector controlled induction motor is carried out by TMS320C30 DSP and IGBT current regulated PWM inverter. Through computer simulation and experimental results, it is verified that proposed speed control system is robust to the load variation. (author). refs., figs.

The application of A.C. motor for servo system is rapidly increased according to the recent advance of power electronics and digital control techniques. The induction motor which has a simple structure and needs less maintenance has become to be used widely in the industrial field for the speed and position control recently. In this paper, the full-bridge resonant inverter is applied to the speed control of single phase inducting motor. The digital PID control algorithm is used and the control parameter is determined by the Zigler-Nichols transient response method. The speed control is carried out by the one chip micro-processor(intel EV 8097BH) and control program is developed by the assembly language. By the experimental result, it is confirmed that the speed of single phase induction motor driven by full bridge series inverter can be smoothly controlled by a digital PID controller.
